I. Hate. Package. Tours. I'm sooo sick of bands touring with 3 other acts. An opening act? Fine okay but I didn't pay a whole bunch of money to just skip most of the lineup. I wouldn't mind so much if I liked at least 2 bands on the bill but that has never been the case for me. But I guess this is what they're dead set in doing now. Still hoping for an arena tour. That's all I want. Club would be amazing but I'll take arenas with one other band please. No more stadiums.

I love the quiet parts in those songs (it's actually the only part of SDV that I like lmao) so it makes sense why that part of the new song stuck out to me on first listen. Somebody else said it would be nice if Mike sang that part in the new song like he does in SD&V - personally no I don't think it would be as good. I love it when Mike sings lead, but I feel he has a rougher voice that works better with certain music or certain vibes of emotions. I think this works better with Billie's softer voice, especially with the bits of falsetto. Think that's everything, it's been 2 hours since I started reading the thread so I may have forgotten a lot 😂 Overall I'm pretty excited for this era. I don't have a lot to compare the feeling to as I didn't become a proper fan until after Bang Bang, and I was kinda away from the band for the build up to foamf. But I'm hoping that it's a good sign and I'm not getting ahead of myself. After witnessing the shitshow that is the speculation thread I feel I'm pretty reserved when it comes to this kind of thing haha so it should be fine

At first I was a bit worried that the chorus of TADIKM is a bit too repetitive, but after listening a few times it totally fits the topic. It's like it can be shouted along at a demonstration.

I believe the 24th will be a special day for green day fans obviously new song and video but I bet the guys themselves will release a clip announcing the new album title, artwork, tracklist, needless to say it's gonna be worth the wait

Anyway…. Hard to tell from the video, but does anyone else hear strings in the “are we not home” section, or maybe it’s just another guitar line. Also hope the high backing vocal heard over the final line of the song in the live recording is more audible when we hear the final version.

I’m going to speculate further, but if they did start intending to do another record with Walker, I wonder if they recorded a few songs and then realized he wasn’t giving them the sound they wanted once they knew this record was going back to a classic Green Day sound. Did they decide based on some early tracks that Walker couldn’t deliver and they’d do better calling on Cavallo?

Based on Mix With The Masters series' I've seen among other things what CLA gets from Rob and the guys generally sounds way better than what we heard. And to me there are clear tells of Butch Walker tricks in that production, hard panned 80s reverbs, those harsh pianos just playing octaves reinforcing the chords and of course the claps. That doesn't mean it's a FOAM outtake necessarily but if it was related to this project it was very early on, pre Cavallo involvement and probably more to do with the second record Walker was supposedly working on with Green Day. Still of course could have been related to the record we're getting and it's entirely possible we see a new version when it releases, but IMO there's no way it's a recording they did with Rob Cavallo (Of course this is just speculation and none of us will probably ever know for sure!)

Im not sure about Look Ma being released on tuesday as well. maybe with the vinyl they just didnt want to "waste" the b-side and thought about just putting the song from the album on it as a special something for the few people that get the vinyl (+ the leaks which is actually pretty good marketing). I really hope we get in it in full quality on tuesday.

A handful of people get lucky a few days early and this place goes full Pizza the Hutt. It's pretty cool that we have this stuff to listen to ahead of its release, regardless of quality. I don't doubt that you have done good things for the community, but I'm staggered that you would think that an open-ended ebay auction selling an object of high emotional value but only around 6 minutes playtime for nearly 400 Dollars would get you anything else but hate? It's a free world (well sorta) and supply-demand is a thing, although in this case, it demonstrates why the resale is problematic, because the scarce supply is deliberate and a sign that it's not meant to be an object for sale. The band intended it to be a gift related to the show, a physical reminder, not just another release like any other. and to be honest, I get that these are tough times, especially for an underpaid, but honourable and important job like teaching, but it's one thing to admit to engaging in unsavoury practices to get by because times are tough, it's another to pretend like everything there is right and proper.

Although, here's a relevant question I suppose: Do you guys think the B-side will be made available for streaming too on Tuesday? I initially thought it was not going to be on the album, but others here convinced me that it could well be a track on the album that was simply chosen as a B-side for the single. In that case, I could imagine them announcing the album and its release date on Tuesday, then making the single and B-side available on all streaming platforms and perhaps thereby also making the album tracklist visible too.
