Just because people don't like you doesn't mean they are dicks to everyone else. Haha13 points

Hey all, now that we have threads for both the secret show and the upcoming new single, let's try to migrate conversations on those topics over that way: … 666 pages seems like a good page to end on!13 points

Here's a curveball- they're going to really confuse everyone and play FOAM in its entirety tonight.13 points

I’m glad my prediction that most here would be happy seems to have come true 😀.12 points

Let me tell you folks, this new Green Day song, it's tremendous, just tremendous, okay? Nobody does music like Green Day, nobody. And let me tell you, I know good music, I have the best taste in music, believe me. So this song, it's called American Dream and it's fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. The melody, folks, the melody is like nothing you've ever heard before. It's powerful, it's energetic, it's everything you want in a song, believe me. And the lyrics, oh my goodness, the lyrics are tremendous. They really speak to the heart, they speak to the people. I understand the people, I do. And this song, it understands the people too, okay? Green Day, they're great, they're tremendous musicians. And this song, it's a winner, just like me. It's making music great again, folks. You're going to love it, everyone's talking about it. Everybody's talking about it, believe me. So go out there, listen to it, and enjoy. It's a winner, just like everything I do.12 points

I dont know how the gdc mods will take care of this, but in my honest opinion: If the musician hands out his own music to the public (in form of tape/cd/vinyl), its not a "leak" but okay for them to let everyone listen to it11 points

Major major credit to the marketing team this time around. FOAM marketing was a disaster and this is a complete 180, great modern way of teasing and getting people geared up for music from the website to giving away some single vinyls last night10 points

Not to be “that guy” but……. Has anybody heard the b-side , “Look Ma, No brains” ?10 points

I can't believe the album speculation thread is just closed down like that with no warning, after all these years, I didn't even get to say goodbye 😭9 points
-
Really really soon we will hear TADIKM and Look Ma. We already heard 1981. So I hope it's not a 10 song album because it's gonna be 3/10 song already heard.9 points

Is it weird to feel kinda happy that the “1972” thread is dead ?9 points

Green Day is also posting locations for vinyl they are leaving in public. I agree that they seem to want it out there.8 points

Just heard “Look Ma, No Brains” it’s actually One Eyed Bastard but reworked with claps and cocaine snorts.8 points

I wonder how many people got a copy (probably small) and how many of those folks who have a record player (probably very small) and how many of them have the tools needed to record from the player (likely microscopic).8 points

Ok, these are some of the best lyrics Billie has written in years. Change my mind.8 points

Not at the show, but heard people on the concert forum here, and on gdfm (plus the discord server) confirm these things so Yes!!! For those who are saying the little bridge in the songs sounds like basket case, I think it could be a deliberate callback to it. It fits the theme of going crazy and feels like an updated “state of the union” type song so a callback to an early song is cute. The song sounds so good live I can already imagine the crowds in stadiums chanting along.7 points

I Just listened to it... remember when i said they owe us music? Now i gotta say the owe us nothing at all anymore haha what a song7 points

great strategy for gifting the new song to fans in a way that doesn’t encourage (or slow down) leaking it. next time they will do cassettes7 points

Here is my audio recording of the entire show. Sorry for the sound dropping out a couple times throughout the set, used a cheap app but did my best to deliver to GD fans around the world. GD was awesome tonight. Tre particularly was on fire. Take care everyone here is the link to the entire show in audio:7 points

I mentioned after one of the teasers that I was hoping for something more than another KYE or RevRad, man they delivered. Lyrics, diversity within the song, the music itself. This is a banger. And the production value behind this, Jesus I’m so hyped. Can’t wait for the 24th 🧟♂️🧟♂️🧟♂️7 points

If 👏🏻 they 👏🏻 didn’t 👏🏻 want 👏🏻 it 👏🏻 out 👏🏻 there 👏🏻 there 👏🏻 wouldn’t 👏🏻 be 👏🏻 a 👏🏻 side 👏🏻 B ((this thought is not reflective of how many handclaps I want on the track))6 points

How is it a leak if they've left it in the public and told where it is to millions of people on instagram? Y'all are complicating this too much6 points
-
They took a rock opera song and made it into a 3 minute wild ride amazingly done! I wish they just did a solo tour like 21st Century Breakdown instead of having big bands like a hella mega 2….but if the setlist is like this then WOW6 points
-
I never even considered waiting for the studio version and listened to the live song earlier - I love it! 🥰 I feel like it’s lyrically classic Green Day without slipping too far into the cliche buzz words. Couple of new things in there. I work in pensions and ‘TikTok and Taxes’ is a phrase that just speaks to me 😂6 points
-
Sorry but you're either a killjoy or a bore this is obvious the band want it to be leaked5 points
-
It’s not a leak anymore. They want it out there5 points

Plus is that leaning into to the idea of a concept album if they’re incorporating other songs into the video?5 points

The 'we are not home, are we not home' goes so hard, I'll be screaming that at the next gig!5 points

Nah, at this point we have so many songs released, many different genres, many people making music... Its kinda impossible doesn't sound like something else.5 points

Although Billie did play Graffitia on that Live from Home thing during lockdown. And maybe last night proved they still have love for FOAM after all5 points
-
I wish it was longer than I Was A Teenage Teenager. A truly awful song that it 3 minutes 44 seconds too long5 points

I’m usually a quit observer here, mainly because FOAM and the subsequent stand alone singles have killed my excitement for new Green Day music. However, this new era is actually pretty exciting because it feels like the band actually cares about the music this time. I just felt this massive disconnect when FOAM came out, but ever since they started teasing the new single, there’s a totally different vibe. It seems like they are making an actual effort to promote the new record this time and I really like the visual style of the music video, the homepage, etc. I feel like the last time they had such a cohesiveness was with the release of 21CBD. Of course we haven’t heard the album yet, but from what we heard and saw so far, it could actually be an ambitious record again. I‘m feeling conflicted though. I can’t wait to listen to the song but I’m not sure if a live recording will do it justice. I might wait for the official release.5 points

So looking at the setlist, the songs played (apart from Dookie and TADIKM of course) is surprising. A number of songs that haven't been performed for a while like Oh Love, Nuclear Family, Homecoming and Last Night on Earth but also Graffitia's first live performance (apart from that one acoustic performance). I guess given the political vibes of this new album, it makes sense to perform that song over the rest of FOAM (though the title track appears to have been played too). Stuart and the Ave. has its 2nd play in 2023 after not being played since 2016. Geek Stink Breath, Disappearing Boy, One of My Lies, Warning. All relatively unknown songs that haven't been played much for years. Even Revolution Radio hasn't been played much since 2017. That on top of Dookie and TADIKM really makes this stand out as a great setlist even if I'd personally like to have seen more from 21CB Really refreshing after them mostly playing greatest hits since 20205 points

Ok, my thought about TADIKM: In terms of my initial reaction to the song, it's very catchy and it's upbeat. I think what sets it apart from 21CB (though it has elements of that) and American Idiot is a kind of East Bay Punk cheerfulness to it. It's also quite short, which adds to the punk feel. I'm interested to see whether this album will have some longer Homecoming/JOB-esque songs too. I think the brevity and melodic lightness puts it more in Warning territory (not a bad thing) or Trilogy, with heavier production. I think for myself this will be more of a grower, rather than instant like, BUT given how good the production of the album sounded, I'm getting very excited. The lyrics are excellent, some of the best he has written in years. I also love the quiet section in in the middle, with the piano and falsetto. I could see the next album getting quite some repeated plays on my phone. RevRad, the trilogy or FOAM all have good moments (well some more than others), but are ultimately let down by the production. I just don't find myself listening to much from post 21CB albums regularly, but this could definitely change now. Cavallo + beefy plexi really does seem to make all the difference. The boys are back! Can't wait for the 24th!5 points

DookieLukie: I don't want to hear the song live before I hear the studio version Me: Then don't listen to the live version until after you hear the studio version DookieLukie: Why are you attacking me and telling me how to live my life?5 points

I wonder if GreenDayFan is stuck in there for all eternity just reposting the teasers again and again.....4 points

The people counting these vinyl records as a “leak” really discount the planning that goes into these sorts of things. I’m sure GD’s staff are WELL aware these will get onto the internet somehow, they want this music to be played, so what if people listen 48hrs ahead of the official release? 🤣4 points
-
Let me get this straight... you are from Brazil and you want a band to come there?4 points

Hour an a half would be much more impactful if they cut KFAD….4 points

Almost every melody in this world has been made in some form or another... I read that with almost every big song releasing.. "Its a plagiat from this and that"... I make music myself and had people telling me that a song sounds like another song. But most of the time I didnt even know the songs before they showed it to me.4 points
-
Graffitia is a great song. And even though I don’t like the album, Father of All works pretty well live. I also wouldn’t mind if they played Sugar Youth live. They have such a rich catalogue, which is why it’s a shame that their recent setlist were so stale. I hope that they’ll use the next tour to actually play some of the new songs. But I’m optimistic, they seem to be excited about this new project.4 points

We have to talk about how amazing Billie and Mike looked last nigh, example below https://www.instagram.com/reel/CymkhpwrdSW/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== and how the hell does that man’s hair grow at that speed, it’s noticeable since Monday! Also, Billie in that striped shirt…..I’m gone ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️4 points

Created a thread to discuss the song as we are officially out of the speculation zone and I think it needs its own space (I guess we can continue the album speculation here): Wow this was hell of a ride 🥲4 points
