  2. I am so bored right now as a fan waiting for new music. I miss when they used to drop singles randomly even if they were sucky like Here Comes the Shock or Pollyanna. No Fun Mondays were really good. Is Billie Joe at least updating the Oakland Coffee playlist? That was really good. I hope that keeps up.

  5. Listening to 21CB and I just keep thinking to myself regardless of the level of songwriting (which I'm actually still hopeful for after 1981 despite what some are saying) I am so excited for another record engineered by Chris Dugan at Ocean Way with CLA mixing - and of couse Rob Cavallo producing the thing. One of my favourite things about listening to Nimrod through to 21st Century, as a freelance producer/engineer, is being able to turn them up loud on a really nice monitoring system and aurally gawk at the pristine production. There was a Gearspace thread back in the day where Dugan answered a whole load of questions about mics, preamps etc etc on 21CB and to have a new record equally massive sounding to geek out about and give me new reference tracks for mixing would be such a great thing. I might've posted almost this exact thing in here before but alas that's how much I'm looking forward to this

  7. But Blink is literally riding off of a cancer diagnosis, pent up demand for Tom and Kardashian shit. It’s not really based off their music or releases or any career spanning longevity. GD has sustained huge organic growth and Blink’s success has been a pattern of higher volatility. Green Day from 2016-present are still playing much bigger shows. Sure maybe Foamf was a “critical failure” but they get paid from tours, albums don’t sell anymore. Tours are driven by back catalogs and Green Day’s will sell for more than Blink’s any day. Green Day achieved success outside alt-rock stations in the 2000s and Blink didn’t. Not that Blink hasn’t been massively successful because they have been. They’re the band closest to Green Day’s success. But even Fat Mike has said it directly “who’s the one band who capitalized the most off punk rock? Without a doubt it’s Green Day”. There’s no comparison. After GD’s AI tour hit England in 2005 there has been no competition. Blink didnt really achieve the success in England that GD did. Even if atm GD is less popular than Blink (I still doubt it) in the USA, GD is much more popular worldwide. Mark reached out to GD to open up for them on Hella Mega. Blink knows it’s true as well.

  8. So we have Louder Than Life in September, then When We Were Young in October. So here's what I think. The Louder Than Life setlist will be Dookie heavy, then Dookie 30 comes out on the 29th. In October, we'll get a new single (1981?) and the album announcement At When We Were Young, I could see them play the single, then debut maybe 1 or 2 other songs from the new album.

  13. For me personally I liked their older stuff a lot and Mark in general, but yeah Tom sounds really horrible live. Tbf they have a big fan base but they have more „casuals“ than Green Day. Their success depends on the region. Green Day are a bigger Name in EU. I can‘t see blink to fill a stadium or something like Hella Mega instead of Green Day. Sure both had their peak years ago but thats for rock genres in general. I‘ll give them 3-4 years until Tom‘s leaving again or Mark kicks him out of the band 😂

  14. I've still not heard the new FOB or Foo Fighters albums. Idk why. I really liked the new Paramore album This Is Why though. It took a few listens to really grow on me but I definitely think it's in their top 3 I don't like Edging either. The only way I think the new blink album can impress me is if the rest of the album is very different from Edging. I do have pretty high hopes for Sum 41's album because they have been doing interesting things for their last few albums

  16. I mean GD is definitely the much better band imo but blink have been commercially more successful since 2016. California performed better than RevRad, even if its fanbase was mixed on the album and the introduction of Skiba. FOAMF and Blink's album Nine were both not commercially successful albums but FOAMF seemed to be a bigger commercial and critical failure than Nine. And due to Tom's return and the release of Edging and their upcoming album, they're almost definitely going to continue to have more commercial success than Green Day whenever they announce their new album. I don't even like Edging and I much prefer Green Day but I think that's definitely going to be the case, even if I end up preferring the next GD album over the blink album. I still don't see them delaying the album because of blink though. I don't think either album is going to be hugely successful anyway, both bands are long passed their commercial peak imo. Of course I'm happy to be proved wrong

  17. What I love about watching the PVHS show is knowing that only four years later they’d be playing Woodstock and MSG. And if you had told them that then they would never have believed you

  18. There’s something really special about the Pinole Valley High School performance. To think they’re playing those songs and kids are just casually watching or walking by. Just another rock band setting up playing. Fast forward years later and these songs get played at massive festivals and venues now to thousands of people a night. There’s also a special 93 performance (blanking on where the show was sorry!) where they played a lot of dookie songs. I think those 93 shows are special because you get that intimate show of a band peaking and the setlists contain a mix of the first 3 albums.

  19. So many (though obv not of the quality of those iconic shows) but I can start by recommending this one: And also this one: Ofc this is iconic: And MacGregor’s! I can’t stop!

  20. Why do we think they're going to delay their single due to blink 182? Do we really think the band are gonna be like "Oh another rock band released an album this month, I guess we better delay our single a bit". As if, people who are fans of blink 182 and Green Day will be too tired from listening to a new album that they won't have the time to listen to one new song from Green Day?. Back in 2016, Revolution Radio released on the same day as Sum 41's album 13 Voices. In 2019, the band intentionally released the single Father of All alongside singles from Weezer and Fall Out Boy

  21. I am so glad the well of Amanda has seemed to dry up. I love the inspiration of Gloria and whatever muses inspired the Trilogy. I hope Dreamcatcher gets released. I am really hoping Billie Joe Armstrong gets out and about to get inspired and adventurous again. Stay the Night. Fell for You. Stop, Drop and Roll. Love is For Losers. Chasing A Ghost. Those songs are incredible. I hope Billie Joe doesn’t hide away and makes his experiences count and makes great music.

  22. Happy for finally live versions of songs never released before (disapearing boy, Road to acceptance and only of you). Almost every live release in the past has the same songs and there many great songs played live never released (at the library, 80, one for the razorbacks, i was there, private ale)
