Well Dookie should be coming next year since 2024 is the actual anniversary year, which leads me to believe a deluxe AI reissue will be coming towards the end of next year. I think they spaced it like this so the new album can release early next year and not be competing with these reissues.7 points

I hope it never happens. GD and the fans deserve a better opening act4 points

I was thinkin about this, and here's my guess: Insomniac was the first of these deluxe sets that we got. I'm guessing that it was done to gauge interest in that sort of thing. It must've done well, since we've gotten Nimrod and Dookie mega boxes since. But it makes sense that they wouldn't test the waters with a 5/6 LP box, yknow? That said, I would've eaten up a demos / outtakes disc for the insomniac reissue. Is there any specific stuff we know of that would've gone on that hypothetical disc?4 points

Cool surprise, I preordered the CD set on Amazon and I had enough Discover cashback money to cover it so it was free!4 points

I think with Dookie, new Green Day and new PHGP that they won’t do any more anniversary stuff next year but keep it for now.3 points
-
yeah, but probably everything was reworked. I think it would be awesome if they give us C&V they way it was recorded back then, even though some of the songs ended up merging into another ones3 points

I was thinking about something... Did Green Day get back in touch with Cavallo for the Dookie 30th and then invite him to the new album?3 points

Honestly think Simple Plan is a pretty overhated band. They're not a great band and I'm not familiar with their discography as a whole but they do have some songs I really like. They also have a fair amount of shit too, from what I've heard, but overall they're not too bad imo. I wouldn't mind if they were an opener for GD2 points

Probably irrelevant info: saw sum 41 and simple plan last night. Simple plan lead singer was saying that one of their inspirations with making music is/was Green Day. Wonder if simple plan could be an opener for GD on next tour!2 points

I honestly don't think they'll do anything for AI 20th.. I think they'll save it for the 25th. And also 25th being more auspicious than 20th2 points

Totally agree!! Therefore, if there's no Irving Plaza or an expanded Milton Keynes version.... what about "AOL SESSIONS"??? Yes, there's an Official digital exclusive EP, however it has just 4 tracks. If they released BBC Sessions, I think it is totally plausible they could release something with AOL Sessions, even the Vh1 Storytellers show could be a chance!!2 points

random off topic question, since I've been off the forum for a while: what happened to One Eyed Bastard? I remember hearing it once online, but I just went looking for it again and it's gone? Did WMG scrub it? Am I not allowed to ask for it here?2 points

They already did a release for the 25th anniversary, I doubt they'll do anything for the 30th2 points

+ New Found Glory, Kaiser Chiefs, My Chemical Romance, Sugarcult, Jimmy Eat World and Against Me! I want the Bouncing Souls opening for Green Day! 😊1 point

I saw them in Charlotte and heard them say something about being inspired by Green Day and other punk bands.1 point

Green Day's live show has definitely influenced The Offspring, Sum 41 and even Simple Plan. The Offspring do a very similar medley of metal covers, and also the Queen Hey Oh's. Oh and they skipped three of their albums as well. Sum 41 do a Queen cover. and also...skipped three of their albums. What the heck is going on? Did the Trilogy damage the number 3 so badly that bands HAVE to skip at least 3 albums or the universe will collapse? Simple Plan skipped half their discography, way to go boys! MUST SKIP THREE ALBUMS!!!!!1 point

There's a lot of squeal-y feedback on the tracks they did release, maybe the rest of the Prague recording isn't very good? Just spitballing though.1 point

Simple Plan isn‘t really awesome but they got some good songs especially the first two albums. And they‘re not that bad as a live band. I saw them performing in 2013 at Rock am Ring on the same Stage Green Day played as Headliner. Rise Against opened for Green Day and saw them 4 times and they are such a bad live band tbh, so Simple Plan would be a better Choice 😂 But for me I saw Zebrahead last thursday for the 10th time and they deserve more attention and as far as I know they also opened for Green Day many years ago1 point

I just saw them with The Offspring and Sum 41, and they really did an awesome show.1 point

When will the 25th anniversary of Album 14 be out? Hey, it'll probably come out around the time I will retire from work, sweet! Let's go ahead and start discussing what the bonus stuff for 1972 will be!1 point

They look to be the same to me, Amazon is £144 for black, and coloured vinyl is available for £168 including postage from Reflex Records, I think the colour set are indie record store specials. Way cheaper than through the official web store.1 point

Trying to justify to myself paying an extra £64 for the colour vinyl set compared to the regular black vinyl price (on Amazon UK). Does the colour vinyl version have any other extras I haven’t spotted?1 point

What do you reckon is going to be the next anniversary edition after Dookie 30? I doubt American Idiot will get an anniversary edition for its 20th on the same year as Dookie 30. Like they'll surely do something to celebrate AI's 20th like playing it in full live like they've done with Dookie. But I doubt we'll get a big release for AI 20. It'll probably be Warning 25 next, right?1 point

New album could be called Chiflada and it will sound exactly like Dookie, but with the continuing story of American Idiot. Or 杜基 डूकी Hey, Dookie in french is Idiote. Oh my. I think I've unlocked a Green Day secret. I bet the new album will come out now that I've cracked THAT code! дуки1 point

I find ALL the differences in lyrics, review the whole album and....act weird.1 point

Wasn't When I Come Around originally titled Better Not Come Around? I remember hearing a live version with those lyrics years ago and can no longer find it online.1 point

Gotcha. This encouragement that it's out there pushed me to try looking a little harder and I just found it again. Thanks. Do we know how it leaked? I'm always real curious about stuff like that.1 point

He sounds great but isn’t it strange, he sounds so tentative at times, especially in When It’s Time! So young too.1 point

I have nothing to add to the speculation but someone said they should play Westbound Sign live and I just want to say yes fucking please 😍1 point

We're all excited but I don't think this is their most anticipated album. I remember being super stoked about the trilogy coming up. This thread have 516 pages because 500 pages are bullshit and nonsense1 point

It was explicitly for putting it on AAF. When they played it the first time in Denver Billie Joe said “hey I wanna tell you something, we’re recording a live fucking album right now! So we’re going to play a brand new song. But it ain’t that brand new, this song’s called Cigarettes and Valentines”. Then I lost my goddamn mind and had something close to a heart attack.1 point
