21st Century Breakdown and Insomniac are Green Day’s best and most underrated albums in my opinion…both followed blockbuster albums and had their own successful singles still played today (Geek Stink Breath/Brainstew-Jaded/Know Your Enemy/21Guns)…21st went number one in 16-18 countries I believe …won a Grammy and had several nominations…if their new album has the anger and tightness of Insomniac and the ambition of 21st I’d be elated…also Westbound Sign NEEDS to get played regularly as that is such an under-looked song and tells a great story (only played once at a sound check)…Last Night on Earth is an Amazing song and should have been single and should also get played live way more. Both songs from those albums could have been successful singles….I see not a lot of love for those 2 albums here……since Dookie 30 is dropping late September that frees up album 14 for a release right before the holidays or at least a single before the holidays and the new album early next year.6 points

21CB and Insomniac are two of my absolute favourites. I’m in the camp that possibly likes them better than their blockbuster predecessors, much as like them. You are right though, they aren’t often discussed, I think because they were pretty successful they are classed so under-rated like Nimrod etc.5 points

Ahh I was hoping we'd finally get Monk's Keys released officially. Too bad. Now THAT should've been the first single for the promotion. And they didn't include Don't Wanna Fall In Love demo in there. All in all it is what I expected, nothing new really, but still cool.5 points
-
THIS!!! I'll say it again. they're releasing Dookie 30 in September to leave February open potentially for the new record!!!5 points
-
Oh they’re including Walking the Dog, love it. And the Dookie era demo of When it’s Time! I thought I’d heard rumors about that but wasn’t sure if that was a real thing or not. The Christie Road re-recording is also here which is a nice treat. My only real knock against is the nearly plain blue cover for the outer box just seems… a little lazy? Like you couldn’t think of anything more visually interesting to do there? And no Jaded in Chicago but I bet that’s wrapped up in shared rights with MTV. Oh, and it looks like they put it a write up from Cavallo in there, that’ll be nice.5 points

$300 to the Green Day store 😭 ”SO SO SO much more to come” better start saving.4 points

I genuinely believe any AI anniversary set will be pushed back to the 25th. We want it all and we want it now, but doing all this in the span of a year would be overwhelming for fans and their bank accounts4 points

Conspiracy time! With the "there's SO SO SO much more", why use three SOs? Here's my prediction: There's 3 new Green Day things that have yet to be announced. In November/ December, we get Thing 1: 1972- an EP of 5 or 6 songs that are what the band initially worked on, this will include 1981. Chances are, this EP will follow some kind of loose narrative or so cohesion in some way. In February-April sometime, we get a whole album of new songs, this is Thing 2. 13-18 tracks of whatever they've been working on recently, with the vim and vigour they got whilst recording 1972. In May- August we get Thing 3: 20 Years of American Idiot, this will be huge and really catapult Green Day back into the mainstream, with us hardcore fans already very satiated. This will be similar to Dookie, and the Limited Edition vinyl set will have some Cigarettes and Valentines re-recordings for good measure. Alongside the American Idiot celebration, Green Day also announce the "WIDE AWAKE" tour, starting in October, celebrating 30 years of Dookie, 20 years of American Idiot, 1972 and the new album. A real greatest hits and a look at their new stuff tour. This world tour will probably last October-February time.4 points

Dookie Dog Bowl is pretty badass, too. When Its Time piano gives me chills. Burnout demo might be my favorite. Is Dookie their best album?!?!3 points

SO SO SO much more this year and next year? must be 1972 single and lp announcement (+tour announcement?) this year and AI anniversary3 points

Agreed but don’t like the baby voice thing much. well this is wild, the email as well is exciting. Some of the songs sound so different I’m really surprised. Billie sounds very young and vulnerable at times, almost tentative on When It’s Time which is so beautiful with the piano. Great harmonies, drums just great bunch of songs. Love FOD but my brain can’t deal with Basket Case 😂😂. Some of the comments on YouTube are that this is what Dookie would have been of released by Lookout which would make sense. Love it.3 points

I also love how When It's Time has been around FOREVER. Wasn't it played live in 1992 or something?3 points
-
I like the "In The End" demo more than the album version. That stripped down, calm presentation of the song is a lot more fitting to the lyrics and the dual vocals.3 points

Yeah the alternate Basket Case lyrics are something else and makes me wonder when these 4-track demos are from. When they played Gilman in mid November of 1992 the lyrics were as we know them and they’re the same in December 1992 for the Art of Ears demos. So were the 4-track demos earlier in 1992? @Todd, your expertise is needed!3 points

Chad move would be to release AI, Demos, Milton Keynes, and C&V, but I am not holding my breath3 points

That would require the original stems to be available. From the Green Day Rock Band days, I remember extensive discussion about recovering the stems from tape and digitizing them for inclusion in the game. Most of Dookie was able to be successfully digitized but "Chump" and "Longview" had issues. Maybe (hopefully) something has changed on that front.2 points
