Well they teased Dookie 30 on Insta...that's something I guess. https://www.instagram.com/p/CvsnsuTOY0f/?igshid=NjIwNzIyMDk2Mg==7 points

It would be smart to have the new album propped up by Dookie 30th anniversary marketing to put Green Day at the front of peoples' minds. I could argue American Idiot 20th (whoa) could do a better job at that but that's later in 2024.6 points

Well I care about the Grammys. Grammy winning artists often see a rise in their streaming and sale figures after a Grammy win. And that's what I wish for Green Day. That their new music will be played on big radio stations again and not just songs before 2010.6 points

Let’s be careful to not get too hyped up about this, despite the early indications we have that it could be good. I was told, however, “it’s a great record.”5 points

I’m not. Having an official way to stream the demos would be really cool, maybe a surround mix, some studio chatter or alternate takes (less likely but would be really nice), a digital release for Woodstock ‘94, or an official release/remaster for Jaded in Chicago (uncensored, natch) would all be great goodies to have.3 points

I reckon RevRad would've been nominated for probably multiple Grammy awards if it was released at a different time. As it was released in October of 2016, it was right after the cut off for the 2016 Grammys and thus only would've been valid for 2017 Grammys and by that point, the mainstream would've completely forgotten about RevRad. But Still Breathing and Bang Bang were fairly popular singles early on and at the time, the album was considered a major return to form after the trilogy. FOAMF was released at a better time but no one liked it Not that Grammys even matter anyway but I do think it's nice when good bands and good music are appreciated by people I still only listened to 1981 once but I absolutely thought nothing of it. It was a low quality live recording though so I hope I do find some enjoyment out of the studio version but if that's the lead single, then I'm not expecting a very good album. It absolutely sounded like an album filler track to me3 points

Honestly, like do we really care if they win a Grammy? Do they care if they win a Grammy? All I care is that this album gives me 35-45 minutes of rock and roll happiness and that when the tour is announced I don’t have to drive to fucking Denver again to see these guys.3 points

Ah ok, so a random new user first come posting a random audio file pushing it as leak track when leaks are being discussed and fake tracks are going around. Disappears for a few months, to then come back as a friend of someone in the production process that heard some tracks without revealing the name of the tracks, somehow knowing how many tracks they recorded but not how many they made it to the end, and reveal some vague information about these tracks. Very casually this happen when people with actual knowledge are sharing some information. And of course only first going back and editing the original posts he made where he was just messing around. While now it’s deff telling the truth. Deff an insider and not the fake account of a bored user of this forum.2 points

To me, this album will serve as a gauge of how much the band has left in the tank. My hope is after putting out the worst album of their career and getting back in the studio with Rob, we should get something with some passion and energy (and hopefully lyrics that are halfway decent).2 points

Wow, very source, much credible. Wow. I’m so glad they never did an American Idiot 2, or that the TV/Movie adaptation of the musical never came to fruition. I think that would have cemented them as “the American Idiot band” even moreso than they already are2 points

I have really high hopes for this record, especially after hearing Billie’s comments in that last teaser, almost a year ago this month actually!!! Where he said how the song they were working on “stays interesting, in the same way as like a song like Letterbomb is interesting.”2 points

I’m sure that @phildunphy is talking about OEB. Sidenote, if you type 1981 into Spotify, green day comes up in the search suggestions2 points

If they’re connected to the band, why would they ever say anything negative about their record? Or even their friends’ record.2 points

How will they cram in yet another Nice Guys Finish Last cut into #Dookie30?1 point

Maybe Dookie 30 is coming this year to not ruin the new album schedulw1 point

What if #Dookie30 is actually Two-kie and the new album is a total sequel to their seminal album? Would make a lot of sense if you really think about it* *Please don’t think about it too much1 point

Because they've not done for 14 years. At the most, they've done albums that are somewhat similar to those albums in certain ways like Tré or Revolution Radio. But they've not done an AI 2 or 21CB 2 in 14 years so idk why we'd expect that. Especially after everything we've heard after FOAM. At most, we'll get some similarities to AI/21CB like what RevRad was, but I'm definitely not expecting AI 2 or 21CB 21 point

I always knew the dad from Modern Family would come through with exciting Green Day info when I needed it most. Sidebar scene talking to the camera: I think he's really Billie Joe.1 point

That statement is fundamentally wrong. One day I want to own a Harry Davidson motorcycle. Or maybe a Pete Davidson...1 point

My bf is kind of a casual GD fan (he listens to them a bit more since being with me but he still only really gives a shit about the hits and some of AI), but he's been listening to Kill The DJ recently and I must report that today he told me he rates it 9.6 out of 10 and that it's at least a top 5 GD song out of all the ones that he's heard, and that musically it suits Billie's voice perfectly1 point

For those of you thinking that 1981 is lackluster, just look at the lead single from 21st century breakdown... Know Your Energy doesn't really have much going on in that song, so there's still hope that the new album will be musically diverse and impressive1 point

These were the estimate dates when I was told back in February. Nothing official.1 point

I can't say about the titles, but do you like American Idiot album? If the answer is yes, you will like the new record. Someone involved in the new album process1 point

Sometimes I feel like I can't match the quality of certain songs I wrote one year ago, let alone twenty. They're practically different people and I think Idiot especially is was always going to be a lightning in a bottle thing. I'd love to be proven wrong, but I think it's a lot more reasonable to expect RevRad than anything else (and as I've said previously RevRad with Cavallo + CLA production would've been absolutely phenomenal, not that it's not fantastic already).1 point

I cant remember too far back but were you told a few years ago that Foam was a bad record? If they continue with the strategy from the trilogy to foam this will hold true If theyre actually in Oceanway with Rob though then this should atleast be a solid record. Doesn’t mean they’ll win a grammy but they should atleast be at the award ceremony this time. But given the amount of time its been since their last nomination and given their history they always have a chance to win. Yeah so if they chart with a song like that then its a slam dunk. They need a rockin single too though. With AI you had a good contrast with those singles - AI, Holiday and BOBD 21cb you had KYE and 21 guns - both charted extremely well. they need to dominate the Alternative charts and rock charts with the rocking tune and then sweep into the top 40 with the tune that creates contrast on the album. GD at their best had the reach that they had because they diversified their sound and got played across several radio stations regardless of their stylistic differences.1 point

Love Is For Losers reached that level or had that magic touch for me. Which is why it bugs me to no end that it was a solo project rather than a proper Green Day album.1 point

Tre was definitely funnier in the 90s, I think the added energy made it more humorous. I still find him funny as hell though and he’s unique in his delivery. I love how some interviewers just never know what to do or say after Tre talks.1 point
