We can agree to disagree but I’m definitely not chatting rubbish. It’s a cheap play to dismiss me. I’ve played professionally before but also was surrounded by multi-platinum artists. I learned a lot about many different things. I think you also missed the thing I was mentioning about the drums as it was about BOBD and 21 Guns. Both Rob and Butch are sticklers around EQ. There’s some really cool things about the album as a whole and I had friends at the time it was released that had a similar opinion as you do but they never actually heard the album whole-heartedly. I’ve also been in a QnA with Butch Vig about this record and Nevermind. The guy is a great producer who did a lot of amazing things with this record. The drum sound on Tre’s kit is great (it actually usually is, Rob also did a good job capturing some good drum sounds). The title track is severely underrated, it’s a great song and adds something to their legacy imo. You could essentially say Dookie has rehashes or Insomniac etc. GD has a style and there’s only so many chords and progressions. If you stay around long enough you’re going to sound like you’re “rehashing” at some point whether it’s a rehash of yourself or others. I never meant to diss The Hives but they’re also just “rehashing” if you want to get technical. Just listen to anything from the 60s and you’ll find those rhythms somewhere by somebody. I actually dont mind that era and style too much now but being a punk musician and watching everyone pretending to be like The Hives got a bit sickening. My point being these guys aren’t going to make an AI or 21cb record. I guess Green Day is guilty of versatility and having longevity.

21CB is nowhere near their best selling record. American Idiot, Dookie, Nimrod & Insomniac all easily beat 21CB in terms of sales. 21CB has more streams than Nimrod/Insomniac because it's a more recent album If 21CB is a rehash of older material, then you have to have the same opinion about Insomniac which is similar to Dookie in a lot of ways too. Restless Heart Syndrome and East Jesus Nowhere sound pretty unique to me. Yes, RHS is similar to BOBD in some ways and lyrically shares similarity with Novocaine but it is definitely not a rehash, I think it actually is better than Novocaine in terms of the lyrical content. I don't understand how EJN is similar to Holiday apart from the fact that they both have a bass led section in the middle. The guitars do not sound similar on these songs at all to me
