  1. As much as I want new material, I want it to be ready when it comes out. I don’t want them to force it out prematurely because of fan pressure (as if they would cave to us like that). That being said, I do wish it were ready already.

  2. ^^I thought the whole purpose of them being off Reprise is to release music how and when they want. Does this mean they have a new shitty contract that they regret signing?

  3. Lmao at the IKEA hat. Also, Billie's eye shape is just perfect for wearing eyeliner. He was made for it

  5. Yes this doesn’t seem any different from the old deal despite everything they claimed they could now do

  6. This right here. If it takes another 2 years from today and it's worth the wait, good.

  7. Billie looks good in the photos from the wedding! Looks like he's slimmed down and of course looks like he's still drinking from that fountain of youth! 😍

  8. Wish we had some new Green Day to listen to in this nice summer weather.

  9. Joey’s most recent dog was Axel and he took him to London. I think he was still living at home when they got Basie and she stayed with the pack she was really a family dog. He got Axel when he moved out.

  10. Once COVID hit, it became exceptionally hard for animals to travel, especially overseas. In 2018 my sister got a dog named Otis (not after GD's production studio, but he was named after another musician!) but then in 2021 she moved to Germany somewhat permanently to be with her (now) husband. Otis had to be with my mom and I due to travel restrictions and money. Luckily late last year he was finally able to make the move. (Or unluckily in my mom's case, he's the sweetest dog on the planet.) I could see Billie saying 'the dog is mine now' and not letting the eldest have the dog back lmao. (My mom almost did the same to my sister!)

  11. Yeah would be cool of they expand their running time again like 120-150 minutes. Fall Out Boy are playing longer shows than ever I think. Would be a compromise for fans like us and casuals so they can stick to their greatest hits and put more deeper cuts.

  12. Weezer, Fall Out Boy and now Guns N Roses have revamped their set lists in big ways. Even alternating songs each night. Playing stuff from even their hated albums, deep cuts, rarities. And Guns N Roses are the definition of a legacy act. Green Day need to really alter the course of their live show. As good or perfect as it may be, gosh darn it. Fire on a different cylinder, man.

  13. You're not a legacy band if you can't release whatever the fuck you want.

  14. In a magazine interview early last year, Billie said 2023, so was it the label that pushed it into 2024?

  15. Yeah but in that one teaser when they’re in the studio with CLA, Tré shouted, “1972 y’all!!!”

  16. I don’t think it ever was the title. Like ever. I think they were just using all of 2022 to celebrate their 50th birthdays.

  17. One thing I'd like to know is, is the 1972 title still in play? If it's not the album title anymore, is it at least the name of a song?

  18. Let's say Green Day originally planned on an October 13th, 2023 release. But their was a delay in the Cd and/or vinyl production, and they were kind of toying around in the studio for some OTHER project anyway. October 13th, 2023 becomes January 5th, 2024. January isn't quite the dead month for release it was before, it could work.

  20. The original band probably cancelled and it was just a placeholder until another band was confirmed. Hopefully it was Max Creeps or The Bacon Brothers and not some guy with his laptop. sad that the best sets are only for the 1% that are lucky enough to get into impossibly small venues.

  21. Let me say as someone that usually holds off posting in this thread and only checks in on irregular intervals, that whilst I agree with the sentiment, as entitled as it sounds for a fan like me to say, I think the band (and/or management) is also responsible, through that they have been consistently starving this thread of any oxygen for over a year, so the fact that things keep veering off topic becomes pretty much inevitable. I mean, there is literally nothing to discuss. Honestly, even the occasional album-related insta post or teaser for the hyperfans would in my opinion be enough to shut up most of the meaningless or baseless triangulation. As a result, my relationship with this thread for over a year now has been like to a toxic ex or addictive substance. I keep coming back for more, even though I know it will leave me feeling unfulfilled and miserable. Bring back the days when we were analysing the back of people's heads goddamnit! Green Day, this is my urgent plea to you: help make the 1972 speculation thread great again!

  22. Maybe putting the 1972 teasers out there was a mistake and the band are sorry.

  23. The fact that they are bringing even more music as a side project band with a early next year new album under their sleeves is what intrigues me a lot and gets me excited at the same time. My only complain about everything is the early teasing for whatever 1972 is/was.

  24. Doesn’t have to be. Lots of acts put out great stuff in the later parts of their careers. Other acts… not so much. They could still choose the be the former rather than the latter, but I think a lot hinges on this next album. Off the cuff works when you’re 22 and everything you touch is hot; it’s a lot harder to pull off well when you’re 52.

  27. That’s exactly where I’m coming from, feel like people who complain are very lucky to have seen them often enough to feel that.

  28. The release timeline is out of the band's control.
