Why are you being a jerk? You need to accept the fact that there are things that you're just not going to know about. If the band wants things to be known, they will tell us.

I think some people were at the right place at the right time to get the full leak. Doesn't mean they know anyone in the band.

The thing regarding the leaked song is, it was the fans who have the song who ‘confirmed’ that a leak happened. If ‘trusted’ fans with ‘connections’ hadn’t confirmed it, most of us would be none the wiser. So basically what we have is a case of “yes I want to confirm this thing I can’t share with you is true even though it was two years ago and is irrelevant to the current situation, for reasons unknown, but also want to keep my connections to the band intact and respect their privacy and wishes”. even though doing so is going exactly against the bands wishes and all sorts of pointless anyway. Really you’ve all just shot yourselves in the foot 👍🏼I honestly don’t get the uproar for an old song anyway, when I first saw the posts i thought something new was doing the rounds. Just don’t see the point now I know otherwise

Honest question...why is it self-important for somebody to want to keep who their friends are private? I don't have any celebrity friends and even I wouldn't want people drilling me about who I do and do not know. It's a basic privacy issue and has nothing to do with self-importance.

You guys are really just complaining for no reason People here are constantly asking for information and waiting for news. At some point, I imagine it can be hard not to say anything if you've heard the entirety of a song, a song that's likely to be released as an album track and/or a single at some point. Idk why it doesn't matter if Matt, or Jason say something about the new album but as soon as someone who doesn't usually have insider knowledge says something like "I heard the song and I like it", suddenly they're bragging and leaking information that the band doesn't want out there

It was more than that, though. Comments about how good it is, random quotes of the lyrics, and description of the sound. People were loving that they had some exclusivity, which I understand, but they weren’t respecting the band like they claimed. Respect would be silence on the song they accidentally got.

I would wonder how that would go. We were talking to him and Adrianne for like an hour that evening about all sorts of things. Astrology, Weird Al, apps he likes, beer, Corpus Christi TX, etc. It was casual and he brought up the album stuff. I didn’t just go up and ask.

Purely speculative here, but my assumption is that the band/management wouldn't be trying so hard to keep it out of our ears if it were old and unused.

Doesn't the clip sound just like a FOAM song? Like how Sugar Youth took a bit from She's A Rebel, this does it with Holiday. And with the "American Idiot Pt II" potential naming of FOAM it fits. Why all the fuss here, it's prob just an old unused song/demo leak, leave it at that, let's wait till Green Day officially announces something about new material?

I just heard the 12 second snippet going around after an embarrassing amount of research and can say it’s without a doubt them. It does sound like Holiday but somehow different at the same time. Idk I liked the sound of it lol

I'm not too fussed on hearing a snippet As mush as I love GD, did you realise there is a band in your local area that also loves GD? Well, guess what? They have had GD as an influence to write their own music! For those who are so desperate to hear new GD, may I offer a humble suggestion: go to a local gig, follow your local bands on social media, download their songs off Bandcamp While they may not be Green Day, they are what GD were 30 years ago, playing material arterial inspired by their idols.. Their songs go for much longer than 11 seconds Until then let's let's just wait until the new GD album is released so we can enjoy it just how it's intended.

I don't really care if people have the leak, talk about the leak, share the leak, whatever. It'll come out at some point anyway and everyone who's heard any of it (likely just the hardcore fans who spend time in these forums) will buy the music when it comes out anyway so not really any harm done. However Let's not pretend that people who are holding onto the leak "out of respect for the band" are actually respecting the band in any way. You know that's bullshit. You've actively disrespected the band by listening to and holding onto the leak that you shouldn't even have and then publicly releasing information about it. Regardless of whether or not you keep the leak private, you've purposely gone against the band's wishes for your own personal gain/pleasure/curiosity. Not trying to be mean, that's just how it is.

How is confirming that something exists a flex? If you have knowledge of something and can confirm its existence, why wouldn't you do that when there are questions about its validity?

I've given my whole life, body and soul, to this band, that I love so much for over 30 years. I've always trusted and respected their wishes, knowing that when they tell me when something is going to happen, or something will be released, it's their decision not mine. But when some song gets out there against the band's wishes, when there's a relentless selfish pursuit of that song, imho that damages that trust and respect. And what if the band are upset and maybe angry over such a leak, shouldn't we be concerned? It makes me feel sad. If the band do not want us to hear the song, then that's good enough for me. Maybe I don't want to be on here anymore.

I didn't feel like people were acting that way at all, but things can easily get misinterpreted on here seeing as how most of us have never met in person and sarcasm can get lost in translation at time

Dude seems to have anger issues, and it's hilarious how he talks about anyone else's energy. Projecting and twisting people's words and flat out lying about them. It's sad. Basically throwing a tantrum because no one has sent him the song he heard a clip of and said he doesn't even like.

Maybe they aren't planning anything for those anniversaries? I was surprised they made such a big deal over nimrod. when they barely did anything for dookie or insomniac's 25th. Though at some point I would love them to release a properly mixed and mastered version of the dookie recording of 409 in Your Coffeemaker, and a brain-shaped 7" vinyl Brain Stew single like the CD from '96.

I'm probably going to listen to the full song if I can. But I'm not gonna spend time looking for the song. I'm not going to bother people who've heard the song into sending it to me. And I don't want to be the reason the song leaks to the whole online fanbase who's looking to hear the song because I don't think the band wants that to happen
