Remember Billie talking about how much work 21st Century Breakdown was in Welcome to My Panic? How they put absolutely everything into that album and how draining that was; They haven't quite gotten to that level since, and I have a feeling that they've come to terms with the fact that it does take a tremendous amount of effort in order to pull off a properly masterful Green Day album. This is all me spitballing but my gut tells me that after FOAMF, and based off the return of Cavallo, CLA and the AI references in the teasers -- they're trying to reach those heights again. I'm not trying to predict one way or another whether that will be successful, but I get that idea. As such I'm thinking that we're seeing them work on this record for so long without any solid announcements, aside from a few hints to keep us fans busy, is because they're trying to achieve a balance where, yes, they put a ridiculous amount of effort into their next record: but also they get to keep having actual lives and families alongside that. Especially with the tour that just finished last year I think it's fairly unreasonable to expect that they've been working on the record 24/7 since we saw the initial teasers in 2021, and if they had been then we all know the toll that would take and how ultimately that's not a great path to go down for anybody. In summary - yes, we might have to wait until next year, but I do expect that there's a reason for that and I truly believe at the very least we're getting a project that has some real scope to it. One of my favourite things about Green Day for the most part is that when you listen to their music you can tell that they've considered every detail - every last chord, lead line, bass part, lyric or drum fill. And ultimately even if I have to wait another three years for that I think it'll be worth the wait.15 points

Oh Billie's in London? That must mean the single is coming any day now... Right? Right??9 points

Sorry for the delay. This is one message I wish I didn't have to post. But I did promise to let you know. Had to ring back again, had no reply to my email. The company has confirmed what we already know from Jason. He is always reliable and accurate with his information anyway. The advertisement for their equipment, included a recent interview with Rob Cavallo this year. Therefore, the statement by him that the album will be released next year, refers to 2024, as Jason said. Really sorry to be the bearer confirming disappointing news. Anyways, at least we have something to hold on to. Maybe we will get a single from the new album as a Christmas present this year.8 points

It can make sense for at least two reasons: - The band ended a world tour 6 months ago, it’s understandable they want to take their time to recover and get ready for another promotion carnival + tour - Marketing strategy, have the best release window Out of the two, if I had to bet I would put my money on the first one. They are 50+, they never seemed to really enjoy the promotion part of a release cycle, they always had a downtime period after touring. Covid fucked things up and is putting us in the perspective of “oh we had the last record such a long time ago”. But a whole lot of stuff happened since the FOAM release. Including a long tour that ended not one or two years ago, but 6 months ago.7 points

21st Century Breakdown doesn’t get half the love it deserves. It went number 1 around the world…won another Grammy for best rock album and got other nominations know your enemy and 21 guns were hits….but for some reason people (a good amount) diss the record…Insomniac also doesn’t get the recognition it deserves before AI it was their 2nd highest selling album…and was more successful commercially then fans realize…I’d LOVE THE NEW ALBUM TO HAVE TBE RAWNESS AND POWER OF INSOMNIAC AND THE DEPTH/EXPERIMENTAL ENERGY OF 21st BREAKDOWN…fans rightfully so love AI and Dookie…Warning and Nimrod are fan favorites but Insomniac and 21st I think are their best and would love a hybrid of both on the new album…Westbound Sign also should have been a single and should be played on the new tour7 points

It does if it's true Billie is being treated for vocal chord degradation. I'm sure they want to give him the time he needs to recover before promoting an album and then going out on a world tour. Mould make perfect sense. Blonde Billie is record-making Billie. Black hair Billie is album promo and tour Billie. At least that's the trend post 21CB. I wouldn't mind a bit of a change up though.6 points

Billie - "I think...uh....ya know. Like things just...uh...happen and people, ya know. I think sometimes you need.....what....you know? Like I think we were just in a place where we COULD put out a record sooner, but if the music...ya know. If the music ya know doesn't....not that it's not good or that...." Mike - "If we aren't firing on all cylinders, we aren't going to put something out that we're not proud of. And that's just how it is. All those guys on GDC can just ya know, take that how they like. We still love 'em because they are here for us no matter what." Tre - "I have a mind to make some moogie!"6 points

Page 409 in your coffee maker. A very distasteful cup of coffee, I am glad Oakland Coffee don't have a 409 Coffee. Anyway. I am an insider because a random person on YouTube told me they were listening to the new Green Day album and that they liked it. Gittyup 409.4 points

Ya'll really need to stop taking these tidbits of information as gospel. It is likely that whoever is sharing these bits and pieces is only tangentially in the know and not in the inner circle, which is why most of the time the information is either wrong or vague.4 points
-
The producer literally says 2024 and GDC will just ignore that because some "insiders" say something's coming at some point in the future with no more specific information than that4 points

American Idiot has made moving forward so difficult for this band. Every album cycle has been sabotaged by these expectations set forth on it. We all say these things: Breakdown - bigger, louder, crazier but not as good. Trilogy - way bigger but not as good. Rev Rad - trying to replicate it again, but not as good. Foam - using the album cover, but not as good. I hope that despite the idiotisms in the teasers, that we get away from that criticism this time around. But what do I know, I think FOAM is a better listen than Dookie. 😄3 points

As a brit, I'm gonna be annoyed if the album title is "Saviors" because I won't be able to look at it without thinking that it's spelled wrong2 points

Yes, it is undeniable that something has changed. You can't write that Billie wasn't a social guy. With both Twitter and Instagram, he has always tried to be close to the fans with many moments of daily life (videos with dogs, with his children, with his wife, in the studio, playing at home, moments of reflection...). Things changed exactly when his son was affected by cancel culture and I well remember "fans" who went to Billie's profile, demanding that he talk about those facts. And this has also happened here, on this forum, by the same people who now complain about his absence. And I hope he will talk about that with the new album. I expect something strong even in terms of lyrics and I sincerely hope that he decides to talk about cancel culture and the rotten use of social media made of hate, insults, defamation and threats. Because you can disagree with what a person says (like with Britt) but you can't go to that person (or on THEIR profiles) and wish them death or commit suicide which happened with both Billie's son, than with Mike's wife. So I hope the new album talks about it and I honestly look forward to all the interviews (especially kerrang, nme, rolling stone) with some uncomfortable questions.2 points

I really hate to held information, because there is no point to be a fan and don't share info and discuss it with other fans. But it's not up to me and I really hope the band start the mkt for the new album soon and shed some light on everything2 points

I just hope the interviewers tackle many of our questions here. “You started teasing this album at the end of 2021 and all throughout 2022. It’s now February 2024, so what happened? Why was it delayed this long?”1 point

Whatever they filmed with Lee Kirk and those kid actors means money must have been already put into the project around that post I doubt they dropped everything and started over it would be a waste if f money…whenever this album comes out and our documentary I just hope it gets proper attention through marketing1 point

So Saviors is most likely the title or part of the title of the lead single. Normally I would say they should have an album title defined before launching a lead single. But with the record release almost a year away I’m not sure if any of these rules apply (assuming that both people here and Jason from GDfm have still accurate info and record name is still not set in stone). I’m still guessing/assuming that if song titles start to be spread around, and to multiple people in different part of the world, it means something is moving in the promotion machine.1 point

If a band has almost disappeared from social media and doesn't seem interested in engaging with their fans anymore, it may be time for fans to ask themselves some questions. It's pretty clear what's going on. If a band member's child or spouse is being repeatedly bullied/cancelled and subjected to insults by those who claim to be fans (which unfortunately still happens, even on forums like this), it's no wonder the band might want to back off and put some space between themselves and their fans and things might never go back to the way they were (for example, I don't think Billie will ever come back to Instagram). Anyway, getting back on topic, I hope these new insiders give us some solid news soon. It's not fun reading hints without knowing what they mean.1 point
-
But no one has literally said that the album is gonna be named Savior. Those are just guesses based on what Alf hinted.1 point

I still hope that the modern approach of releasing single(s) 6 months+ before the album won't be applied here. As much as I crave for new era and music, I want the old days back where you had a Rolling Stone article (on paper) - a journalist, a real insider who actually heard some songs and got to sit down with the band and talk about it, then tracklist and artwork, and a single released maybe a month before the record, along with official announcement of everything. The alternative would be the trilogy approach with lots of short studio videos, which were awesome. That's how you hype fans for their favorite band's comeback, not this shit.1 point
-
I don’t think they would be so direct at telling an album/single name. More probably is part of it or even a synonym.1 point
