  1. I found this: Cavallo is currently producing the newest Green Day album due out early NEXT year. Cavallo and Chris Lord-Alge are working on mixing a brand new Green Day album, which is being mixed on Lord-Alge's SSL console. There's aslo an interview from May 2nd: https://www.solidstatelogic.com/media/rob-cavallo-captures-big-studio-sound-with-big-six

  2. Have spoken to sales at co in Oxford. They seem certain it's from last year. I asked for confirmation. They've passes my request to marketing and will email me back hopefully. 🤞

  3. I don't want a 6 month gap between first single and album release

  4. If true, this is beyond stupid. I've said repeatedly that I'm fine with them taking their time on this next album and I stand by that. What I don't like is them putting out several teasers literally over a year before the album is going to be released and all these sources (whether true or not) saying that the band is done the album, that they're getting ready for touring and releasing singles just for an article to come out saying yeah it's gonna be another year For RevRad, I'm pretty sure all we got was confirmation that Billie had written a few songs around the time of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015, then a photo of Billie in studio in the beginning of 2016 and then the band releasing singles and stuff starting in August. For FOAMF we got basically nothing until the album was announced and FOA was released as the lead single, exept for the Panicland shit. And while this album may be a bigger project than both of those, I don't see why we need all this shit if the album isn't even going to release for another year

  5. Damn i wonder what's stopping them from releasing it this year if it's done

  6. If we gotta wait next year give us another foxboro hotubs album or a cover ups album or another no fun Mondays album or a b-side album or something to tide us over…..

  7. So unless the plans change, we're expecting the new album 'probably' around February-April period next year. We will only get 1 or 2 new singles this year (probably during Autumn months). I still hope for a late August single release. At least we have news of a new album release period info now, rather than nothing.

  8. No Fun Mondays, live-streaming the Coverups, there are things that could be done to make the waiting not so terrible. It’s because of the early teases and then silence. It’s frustrating for spoiled fans. Hi, it’s me. I’m a spoiled fan.

  9. Honestly having no fun Mondays and money money 2020 part 2 on 2020 and three new songs on 2021 held the waiting in a good way. The thing about 1972 is the early teasing. Sure the project changed overall but they could give a little update that this project is still going instead of giving no hint about it for almost a year.

  10. I remember when in 2016 Jason Freese blurted on a random radio that Green Day had finished the album and were about to leave for the tour. The interview was taken down everywhere and someone here was also contacted to try to calm things down.

  11. Also super weird to drop news on a new album in such a random article.

  12. Thanks! It would be great if the author could clarify the "next year" part and whether that is relative to 2022 or now.

  13. Jesus christ no way this is true I woke up and first thing I saw was these news. Are you aware that early next year easily could mean april? I mean, one fucking year? Or like I said before, in green day terms 2024 could mean 2025 as well! This is frustrating 😤

  16. Interview was taken last year - I would not overreact to this

  18. https://www.instagram.com/reel/CrwljnKg9Dx/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= probably better suited for the Random Green Day News thread, but Tony finished another guitar for Billie - this time a Les Paul Junior Tribute DC, a model he hasn’t played on stage before. I would still love to see the blue sparkle double cut junior he did for Billie get some stage time, that guitar looked incredible

  19. “Oh, yeah. Keep going! You have the Rolling Stones as a role model for that now. The great thing about the Stones is they’ve become old bluesmen. Seeing them on that 12-12-12 show — they blew everybody off the stage. They were so inspiring. And seeing all that white hair Keith Richards has now…[laughs].” -Billie Joe, on being in Green Day at age 60+ (From 2013 Rolling Stone interview). Also, Jason White told a great story on the Peer Pleasure podcast about Billie inviting him, along with the rest of the band, to a Stones rehearsal in Toronto on the American Idiot tour. He discusses how big of a Stones fan he is, and how awe inspiring it was to watch the rehearsal and meet Keith, Mick, and the rest of the band.

  20. You guys are hilarious. Seriously, stay calm people! They (band, producers, mixers etc) are all human with families, including elderly parents, and extended families, stuff happens, things change etc etc. Don’t conjure up bad news we don’t need or want. Patience!

  21. Where did you heard that? I think the only source we had was the kerrang interview where he mentioned "probably 2023".
    4 points
  22. This is disappointing I'm gonna hear the same setlist at the FEQ I guess.

  23. It’s going to feel like a very long wait but we’ve had long waits before, just need to hold on to the positives here. Time to save some ticket and merch dosh!
    4 points
  24. Well you'd hope that they just accidentally wrote down what they said about it being "early next year" if they said that the interview was taken place last year. But we also aren't really in early 2023 anymore as we are almost half way through 2023 at this point. If it's really true that it's coming out early NEXT year then I hope that the album is one of their best yet. Also that's not me having major high hopes, I just mean I hope it is worth the wait since they started teasing this like it was coming soon in December 2021, so this apparent "teasing" on and off for 2 years is just not a smart move in my opinion.

  25. I’m sure whoever wrote it would have translated “next year” being said in 2022 to “this year” when published in 2023.

  26. "He is currently producing the newest Green Day album due out early next year. Cavallo’s work has garnered 21 Grammy® awards, including a record of the year award for Green Day’s Boulevard of Broken Dreams and a Producer of the Year Award."

  27. Yeah I’m not buying this 2024 business. Albums don’t take that long to mix. An announcement is coming soon I think.

  28. I would also like to add the interface in question was released in December 2021 so I imagine it was used last year in the recording / mixing process. It’s extremely unlikely that Rob & CLA would’ve only just discovered this piece of equipment. https://www.solidstatelogic.com/media/solid-state-logic-launches-next-step-in-hybrid-production-tools-big-six-superanalogue™-mixer-with-usb-interface#:~:text=Featuring comprehensive AD%2FDA conversion, for artists%2C producers and engineers.&text=OXFORD ENGLAND December 8 - Solid, desktop mixing console%2C BiG SiX.

  29. The article does kind of read like it was written last year and not updated. They say that Rob and CLA are still in the process of mixing the record, but I think considering we've seen them at CLA's studio both mid last year and earlier this year, I think it's fairly safe to say - unless something very drastic has changed - that the record is mixed already. So whether it was written early this year or sometime last year it's fairly easy to assume that they didn't update the wording very much if at all before publishing yesterday. To be honest at this stage I'd love just any word at all from the band, even if that word is that we shouldn't expect anything soon. Or in fact even if there's something coming in the next little bit just assure us that there isn't - it'll make for a better surprise 😉

  30. Love that album Foreverly with Billie Joe & Norah. Barbara Allen is my fav track. Further demonstrating Billie Joe's versatility. Imho, the complete musician, the bestest singer/songwriter/guitarist. Ever.

  34. Yes! This! Or Tré in the shower scenes! Tré had been stepping up! What is happening???? Or Mike’s comedy project? Something to tide us over. We were spoiled for too long. We will revolt. COME ON LONGSHOT OR FOXBORO! Or stupid livestreams. Anything. Those random acoustic songs Billie Joe would play were fun. During the Trilogy era did he randomly play acoustic versions of the new songs on his IG? Does anyone have a YouTube link for those?

  39. If the interview was written last year and they actually did mean early this year, then where did that from? Is that just them assuming based on Billie's "it will probably release in 2023" statement in that one Kerrang interview. Because otherwise, I don't know why they would've said that. And if that's what they meant, they're obviously wrong about that as it's almost the mid point of the year and we still have basically no information about the album
    2 points
  40. Yeah timelines make no sense unless something truly unprecedented happened.

  41. If this was true, there would’ve been more articles regarding this news…let’s not put all our eggs into one basket. I’m staying optimistic

  42. maybe we get 1 or 2 singles this year and the album next year, like foam? but this is frustating, i thought we're getting the album this year. plans clearly changed, maybe the first project was all scrapped at this pont.
    2 points
  43. Yes! I was thinking the same thing last night. Specifically thinking during RevRad of the livestreams and that little acoustic concert where he asked what songs did people want to hear.
    2 points
  44. Where do you see early next year? I only read "Currently, Cavallo and Chris Lord-Alge are working on mixing a brand new Green Day album, which is being mixed on Lord-Alge's SSL console. But when Cavallo gets home and wants to work on a demo for another artists he is working with, he doesn't feel like he is missing anything with BiG SiX" And if it's true then I'm speechless.... their plan probably have changed since early January I guess.

  47. Tre named Charlie Watts as one of his major influences in his Rock&Roll Hall of Fame induction speech. Billie said several times that Jagger is one of his favorite frontmen of all time (I remember Instagram posts, but as we know, they're all gone). They love to cover Stones songs. And you just see the resemblance when you see Jagger on stage and Billie on stage - the way they play with the audience. You can just tell that not only Freddie Mercury was a big influence for Billie to become the fantastic frontman he is.

  48. What in your psychological analysis told you that, Dr. @GDFan2019 ?

  49. Time spent is not necessarily an indication of quality. They could be starting with something, freaking out, scrapping it, doing it over, starting something else, panicking again, rinse and repeat.
    2 points
  50. No, I’m panicking because they told us a year and a half ago they were recording a new album and haven’t said a word about it now in nine months.
