  4. The one perk of us waiting this long is that I haven't listened to the teasers in so long that I actually forgot how they sound. Now I can go into their new music completely fresh!

  8. To say it in the words of Chris Lord-Alge, about the Grammys: "I personally think that it's nice for us musicians and producers to be recognized. Period." And they deserve recognition, so let's hope for it!

  12. I absolutely loved it when Stop when the red lights flash was played live ❤️ It was fantastic at the Emirates gig. The whole show is here (and I definitely need to watch it again!) Honestly not sure which is my fave GD video. Will have to come back to you on that one Maybe this Murder City official video but then maybe I'm biased because it was filmed in the UK Also not a standalone single

  13. It really, really was and yes I was at that show. Great times Will have to revisit the official music video again. The one I posted has always been my go to For 2010 the person that filmed that video must have had a pretty good set up because it's such a great recording!

  14. I know there was lots of love for the AI video and it’s a great video, but I agree re 21 CBD, it’s amazing and felt really different and ground breaking at the time.

  16. Sounds to me like a late summer/early fall album release and a tour that starts in the fall and goes through next year. Just a guess, but it sounds like the tour will straddle two years

  17. GD put out many albums in October including the underrated INSOMNIAC…I feel they will drop a single in July/August then go in interview mode and release the album early October just based on the amount they have recorded….maybe they don’t want to announce until the last minute….a strong single that gets people’s attention then promotion/music video to hype up the album and release a 2nd single right before the album

  22. There is poor quality audio of Sweet 16 from the Tiki Bar. I’ve got a similar quality recording of State of Shock on my PC which I think was from the same show, but I can’t find it on YouTube at the moment (it was mislabelled as Crushing Bastards but I can’t remember if that was my mistake or the uploaders’). As an aside I seem to remember Hybrid Moments being played a number of times at the Halloween show which may answer your question - a GDA update says it was played three times.

  32. The falsetto is good in 21 Guns. But I just love how it's used on songs like Before the Lobotomy and Restless Heart Syndrome especially

  33. Back in early '90s, most of the technology we have today was either in its early stages or did not exist. No smart phones, laptops, tablets. No way to stream or download music, no social media, and no internet at we know it now. So other than records and the music press, what was available globally to communicate music? MTV. The music video was the in thing for bands to present their music visually to get noticed. Following the tragic and sad loss of Kurt Cobain, there was a sort of music vacuum, and Grunge was getting tiresome. There were many bands around making music videos. A was well into The Offspring at the time and their videos. With the release of Dookie, the first music video I saw from them was Longview. The GD lyrics to live by, now visually presented as a story, came alive, even became reality and you lived it even more. This was new, this was attitude. And the ending, where Billie Joe trashed the couch, and shredded it with a knife, this was punk. And that's what you wanted to be. GD has made loads of music videos, I've downloaded around 70 videos, but not sure if that's complete. Today they still tell a story but are much more elaborate. So, my question is, do you have any interest in GD music videos, and if so, which is your favourite. It's as difficult choosing a GD video as choosing a favourite GD song. For me although Longview is special coz it was my first. I'd go for 21st Century Breakdown. I think it won an award, not sure. An amazing video.

  36. God it was such an epic way to open a show! Was that one of the shows you were at? Regardless, it looks like you got an awesome spot to enjoy the whole spectacle. For me personally, when I hear the song I visualize the official music video and the way it brings the album art to life in stylized animation. Man I love that thing.

  37. I absolutely love this video of it. It's extra special to me because this is absolutely what I see when I hear the song (when the guy zooms in I was sat right about that spot in the stands and remember it so well ♥)

  39. 21st Century Breakdown, hands down. I love 99 Revolutions and it was an amazing opener (my second favourite for sure), but nothing has ever quite captured the excitement of seeing my favourite band like Rock 'n' Roll Radio, then Song of the Century followed by 21st Century Breakdown. That may be purely sentimental though, because it was my first tour and the best one in my opinion. I still remember that feeling so well that I get butterflies whenever I hear Rock 'n' Roll Radio. I really don't mind Know Your Enemy as an opener. The drums build a pretty exciting atmosphere. I'd obviously prefer a song I like even more, but I doubt that'll ever happen, so Know Your Enemy is perfectly OK. Haven't seen American Idiot but I imagine it'd remind me of watching Bullet in a Bible and I'd probably enjoy it. Brutal Love was the best closer. Last Night on Earth and When It's Time were good, but nothing quite compares to Brutal Love.

  40. For me it's 21st Century Breakdown. Everything opening from that tour was perfect starting with the playback of Rock-'n'-roll Radio from Ramones then the build up with Song of the Century and the build up continuing through the first notes on the piano culminating with the guitars and fireworks. I think Welcome to Paradise is a pretty awesome opening song as well. And in my dream show, the band would open with Panic Song. Can you guys imagine Green Day opening with that bass line?!

  41. Random Green Day live performance thoughts are random. This is the best live performance of She in E Standard. Shibuya performance from the same year comes close thanks to the solo Billie Joe added to it (press this if you haven't heard it yet) but I still prefer Reading's high energy. Murder City with Billie's own intro and in Eb Standard was much better than album version or other E Standard performances. If you're tipsy and happen to be in concert, this is the best song Green Day has ever produced and nothing else comes even close to it.

  42. I finally found a full version of their 2009 SNL episode and it's fun because it was like the beginning of my descent into madness. I was a casual fan and didn't really like KYE, as a SNL stan I of course was watching the episode and it was the first time I heard 21 Guns and loved it. That made me more willing to see them live and three days before the 21CB tour date near me, I bought a ticket to the show and became obsessed after that. Just a fun trip down memory lane. Also funny to see Tom Hanks cut Tre off as they walk off in the Goodnight Saigon sketch and Billie try to fuck with Will Ferrell during the goodnights 😄
