It was 'in the middle of working on it', not in the middle of recording. As I've said previously I think it's fair to assume that the album is mostly done hence seeing CLA in the teasers, but they're still working on the record as in prepping for a promotional cycle, music videos, etc. and as some others have speculated also probably just taking a bit of a break before they have to start the Green Day machine back up again. I strongly believe the album from a recording, mixing and mastering standpoint is finished though.6 points

I absolutely believe the album is still coming out this year, I think at the latest it'll be October but honestly probably before that. We know it's ready6 points

I averaged the guys birth month together and then averaged their birth date together and came up with June 20th. Sounds like a good release date to me. It was June 10th, but their months combined were like 6.3333 so I did some really, really questionable math and scientifically proved that this Green Day untitled will be out on one of these two dates.5 points

It was fun last night. Had a blast! Loved the show. Can't wait for more. They sounded great.5 points

Id like the album to have a more mature sound for once, kind of in the vein of the acoustic teaser we got and along a similar style to ‘Somewhere Now’ but with more thought out lyrics, along with a few nostalgia trips along the way to celebrate their career so far.3 points

When you see the photos of his mum with fans at the show she looks amazing too, she’s 90 or 91 and you would hardly believe it!3 points

I still think it’s possible that 1972 could be referring to the film they are rumoured to be working on if it’s their story and those young actors could be part of that. Or they could just have decided to use 1972 for the year ti celebrate their birthdays.3 points

Not sure about that. First, when you say they haven’t done anything inspired by besides three things, it kind of negates your argument. I would argue Insomniac was the most punk inspired, Warning was acoustic folk inspired, AI was The Who’s mod/progressive rock, 21CB classic rock, Trilogy was power pop, FOAM was garage and funk inspired, so they’ve done a lot of styles (and that’s not including the heavily inspired side projects). I would say a metal inspired album is something they have yet to do and could do really well.2 points

I mean, the teasers haven't hinted at anything metal. With Rob Cavallo back as producer, and CLA as mixer, this will no doubt be a return to form!! We're in for something EPIC!!!2 points

I was thinking that too...appears he bathed in the fountain of youth again!2 points

Green Day store is a joke. I pre ordered the limited edition of FOAM with no censoring over the motherfuckers part on vinyl. It got lost between the store and UPS and were never seen again 🙃2 points

Lol mines still nowhere the GD store refunded my $15 shipping and handling charge….but I still paid over $300 to get both the vinyl and cd 25th bundle and now I don’t know if I should rebuy and risk another $300 plus or wait?!?! So pissed2 points

Remember when we saw that photo of the guys with those kid actors? What if it’s not for a movie. but a music video featuring a flashback to their childhoods?2 points

How were you able to get one! I just tried and already says unavailable. Dammit!2 points
-
I think we must embrace the idea that we won't get anything by the first half of the year. Probably they announce a late summer or fall tour of course with a first single under the sleeve. But I'm being so optimistic though. Idk why I got this feeling that they delayed it to late year or early 2024.2 points

Announcing the record means starting the whole promotion carnival. They ended a world tour just a few months ago. They are almost 51. Give them some breathing time.2 points

I would really hope that they fill in their summer tour schedule around the 3 festivals already planned for 2023. Wouldn't that make sense?1 point

I'm sorry, I don't understand... Because the band's twitter page (and maybe some of their other social media pages) posted Happy 29th Birthday to Dookie, you think that's a sign they're moving on from Nimrod 25 and supposedly means they're closer to announcing the new album? Cause if that's what you mean, then that's quite the reach Honestly I think it's pure cope if you guys are expecting the album by June1 point

Million Miles Away https://www.instagram.com/tv/CoMEgwMJFew/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= Looks like no Mike. He’s a punkass little bitch for not sticking around for this show1 point

It was just the announcer who mentioned they were ''currently completing their upcoming album 21st Century Breakdown'' while they were coming on stage to present Grammy for record of the year.1 point

Was just coming here to post this! Been waiting forever for Rob to do an episode on them. It's really well done and worth checking out. Also helps that he's a fellow Ohioan and makes geographical references that I can relate to. 😂1 point

Well, there are things I liked and others not... or I considered as a "meh". Good things: * Keep the mix for Nimrod Album: Nothing more to say, Nimrod since 1997 is a perfect album in my opinion. I love the production (I assume it is the same mix, I didn't watch/read any "Remastered Version" in the promotion of Nimrod XXV) * Get unreleased material: It's really good to know some more content from this era, but... I will explain later. * The Art from CD and Vynil Version: I don't have any physical copy, but I watched many unboxing videos and I love the printed content. * The Live album: FOR YEARS i wanted an official release for Electric Factory Show. I remember the times I listened to Redundant Single (I think it was in 2003 or 2004), those live tracks just make me desire more and more recordings from that show. Then I could listen Time of your life from NGFL single and NGFL live from that vynil singles collection in 2009. It has some flaws, but finally my wish came true. Green Day sounded so different in that era, compared to current shows. The vibe/atmosphere/spirit of GD 90s shows feel more raw, now it is more "friendly" (Nothing against that, but I would had loved to be in a GD show in that era) * NGFL and TOYL Videos in 4K: Not part of this Boxset, but for ages I wanted classic GD videos in Full HD/4K. Bad things: * No expansion of Nimrod album: I know I said Nimrod is perfect, however Billie said Suffocatte almost was part of Nimrod. I see no reason that could have happened in this release. * The Demo album: To be fair, I got the point why this material didn't make the cut. I liked to listen to the demos of released songs, we could get the idea how much those songs changed. However, You irritate me, thankfully, was not part of Nimrod. It didn't impressed me at all. Alison cover... I wanted to listen to the band version. Black Eyeliner was a good surprise, not one of the best GD songs ever, but nice to know how this demo was a proto of Church on Sunday and Kill your friends. Place inside my head... it's ok (I give it some credit because Mike sings) Chain Saw is a good brief cover of Ramones. Tre's Polka... it's something different but boring. Overall, they could add more stuff like some alternate mixes (Prosthetic Head, the Richard Dodd Mix and Future Disc System versions of Redundant, D.U.I., etc) * Some flaws in the Live Record: First, the solo part and the fan playing guitar in Knowledge... what a waste. Knowledge sounded so good on Nimrod/Warning era. Paper Lanterns is so long... I have no problems with it IF I can watch the band (To be clear, in a DVD/BluRay/Video on YT). You know, watch the band interaction with the audience. However, just listen to the band playing the same riff for some minutes... for that reason I prefer the redundant single version, going to the best parts. I liked the "fast punk" part, though. Finally, I don't know why in the vynil version Brain Stew and Jaded were separated... it is a non-sense.1 point

Idk why people expect them to announce stuff on their birthdays, they've never done that. Remember back in 2016 when they were secretly working on RevRad and we expected them to announce something when the mayor of Oakland announced a dedicated "Green Day Day" and then nothing happened? We just need to be patient and we'll get it when they're ready1 point

My guess is we won’t hear anything until after the Innings Festival Feb 25. There’s a Coverups show Feb 2 and we were wrong about them making any kind of fuss over their birthdays so nothing will happen next month. But their calendar is empty until July so there has to be some reason for the gap I think we’ll have an announcement and promo beginning in March, maybe an album April or May and a summer/fall tour1 point
