  1. Funny thing is, in the email, I read it as FOAM finger and was like, are they still trying to push that? It fascinates me that he held onto the music for Kill Your Friends for so long. Who knows what music/lyrics that we think are brand new are actually over 20 years old?

  2. Enjoying the live album now. Glad they included all the between bits and it sounds like a complete show. In some ways the Nimrod tour is my favorite because they already had a great catalog of songs and it was the last time they would play just as a trio. Billie was just developing a stage presence and I can’t believe the sound and energy just three guys produce. Every song sounds flawless. Such a great era 💚

  3. Yeah I like what he does on the guitar after the chorus. Interesting sonic choices the band isn't really known for that I would love to see more of

  4. And can we talk about Place Inside My Head? What a great surprise. I swear Mike should have gotten one song an album just like George Harrison did. He doesn’t write a lot but the when he does they’re super poppy. This song is so bouncy and fun, has a Riverdales crossed with The Monkees vibe. Mike deserves more vinyl space than he gets.

  5. Right? He has this beautiful tone to his voice that he doesn’t always use but every so often on demos or ballads you hear it and it melts your soul 🫠

  6. Still waiting for my copy to be delivered, but did I buy the foam finger without a second thought? I sure did 🖕

  7. Listening to the lyrics from the demos made me realize why Billie thought this was a lyrical nightmare going into the studio 😂 he knocked it out of the park with the final lyrics though

  9. The live CD is brilliant. I’ve loved every time I’ve seen them live but I would also have loved to see them as just a three piece.

  10. Been listening on YouTube and can’t believe how much the lyrics changed, understand now why Billie made that comment about lyrical nightmare better now. CD box set literally just been delivered so away to load them up. Looks great by the way, complete with patch, booklet and pass.

  11. Yeah sorry, didn’t know that one anyway Also listening to these you hear exactly what he was referencing in Cuatro when he said he went into the studio with only half the lyrics. Just about every album track is the first verse repeated in the demo.

  13. Hearing the lyrics for Church on Sunday (one of my top 5 Green Day songs, easily) on Black Eyeliner is so so cool!! honestly gives me chills a bit.

  14. love hearing the progression of the songs, desensitized is so good! Can see how it started with a very unpolished idea and grew.

  15. I do agree with the conclusion that the long wait means either this album is going to be unbelievably epic or Jillie Boe is pulling his hair out and has started over again three times and still isn’t happy with it 😄

  16. Reminds me of the Stay the Night demo!

  17. The live tracks are great! I love that all of the hilarious banter was kept in.

  18. Black Eyeliner … chills. Wow! Enjoyed that more than anything they’ve put out in years, even if it is just a recycling of Kill Your Friends and Church on Sunday.

  19. not sure if anyone's mentioned this but i think it's funny how pretty much the entirety of desensitized's lyrics were changed for the final version in shenanigans

  24. This was me. My mom and I heard Good Riddance on the way to school and she ordered the cd. I put that sucker in my little blue boombox and WOW. Had the same cd ever since and it still sounds great, despite being the most played thing in my collection. Credits say written by Green Day. It sounds like a Ramones track, maybe the KKK Took My Baby Away?

  28. Black Eyeliner, What a song !! Absolutely love it. Love the tone of the guitar, the lyrics, everything!! Amazing to see how BJ took that lyric for Church on Sunday. Beautiful.

  29. This reminds me of high school, like 1998, when people were already saying that they loved Green Day, but preferred "old" Green Day, precisely bc the only song off of Nimrod that they knew was Good Riddance. If only they had listened to the album in whole, and heard Take Back, Platypus, etc.

  36. Gotta say that the demos are great. Sad to learn that When it's time was rejected three times now Seems this demos are from very very early versions, judging by the lyrics. I'd wish that they included a Scattered demo, but at least we got something

  40. Black Eye Liner has so many seeds of other songs. Kill Your Friends Melody Prechorus of Church on Sunday One line from Rotting A spiritual predecessor to the studio hey-ho from Stay the Night.

  41. Does anyone know how many boxsets were pressed? I want to know how limited the run was...if at all. It looks like most my local record stores have got copies of both the black and silver in stock. (Still glad I pre-ordered for my comfy AF crewneck - rocking it at the office today aha)
