Here’s a Reddit post, analyzing Tré’s Oakland Coffee photo. Someone pointed out the coffee machine says 2:09, and wondered if that’s a hint. Maybe an album announcement or single?6 points

That photo is likely from months ago since tre isn't in crutches. As for the 2:09 I seriously doubt it could mean anything. Since the photo is old it's unlikely that they would have the specific release date planned out back then. And why would the album or a single come out on the 9th? I think the 10th would make more sense (also considering the 10th is on a Friday this year.) And above all that; green day isn't a band that will cryptically tease you. They always let you know for sure when your being teased for #1972 and etc. Its been a long ass run but I know we are getting close to and actually single date. I can feel it in my nimrod5 points

The use of AI cover on FOAM is exactly the opposite of nostalgia grab, it’s literally a unicorn throwing up on nostalgia. Like the record itself.4 points

I remember GDA used to have a section for all those voicemail recordings, and that’s where I discovered these songs I hope we get these songs on the new album!!!3 points

I wouldn't mind if 1972 is a sequel of sorts to American idiot if so as long it's not called American Idiot 2, and as long it's coming from a place of true inspiration and it's not just nostalgia bait. Thing is, when you look at how the FOAM cover used the American idiot cover as a sort of nostalgia grab i can't help but be skeptical.3 points

greenday.com is updated with Nimrod templates. The FOAMF era is officially over. Pheew.3 points

Working in retail will make you hate any Christmas song of any genre. There are only so many times you can tolerate the same five songs on repeat while customers threaten to report you to the CEO because the last lemon cheesecake is damaged. I can't even listen to the original You Get What You Give anymore because of the Sainsbury's version (in case you want to suffer, this is what I'm on about). At least they've retired that so I'll (probably?) forget about it eventually... but there is no forgetting Wham. Or Slade. Or Mariah Carey. Then again, they're all bearable compared to that Sainsbury's cover and that's in my head now. HELP.3 points

Over in Nimrod 25th topic. Few guys have had emails changing delivery date. Mine's still saying Jan 27th though.2 points

Who's getting notifications about nimrod getting pushed back? And why Feb 8? That's a Wednesday. I pre-ordered from Amazon and it still says 1/27 release...is it the GD store variants that are affected?2 points

Yes, maybe Warning, possibly FOAM? Since 39/Smooth in 1990 up to Warning as well as a new awesome sound to fry your brain, you could relate to Billie Joe's lyrics which where dark and sometimes depressing. Coz that was happening to you. Pissed off, living in slums, no work, no money, and a government who didn't give a fuckin shit. Songs about life, which was shit, about you coz your shit. And the happier moments with songs about girls, who were not shit.2 points

Those where the days. Back in '91 the main source of news where the music mags like NME and Melody Maker. Especially for tour dates and venues. Laptops, tablets, and smartphones were about to surface.2 points

Even if it is basically American Idiot Part II, that would be fine but don’t call it that. That’s a shitty title2 points

omg what a nostalgia trip. I religiously checked rockontv!! What an amazing resource.1 point

Correct, it’s “fuck nostalgia” which makes it even weirder if the next album is “Okay, you want nostalgia?…”1 point

I think the biggest problem with it is that living in the Uk and it being such a huge hit, we hear it so often it’s got to be really horrible for people. I was never a Wham fan nor liked the song so however many years on, to still be hearing it so much is just grating. It’s everywhere all the time round Christmas.1 point

And I thought FOAM was a bad album name. Having that album cover is enough of a crime. Actually naming the album American Idiot part II would've been worse Why not just do the same thing to the Dookie album cover and just name the album "Shit". Not as catchy as Dookie but if it were of equal quality to FOAM, the name would be pretty accurate1 point

I would like to know ChatGpts summary / prediction of the next Green Day album sound based on the previous album descriptions AND so I have! here is CHATGPTS prediction of possible album sounds Describe a 3 different album styles based on Green Day’s history of evolving and experimenting with different sounds Green Day has a history of evolving and experimenting with different sounds over the course of their career. Here are three potential album styles that the band could explore based on their past work: Punk-influenced: Green Day's early albums like "Dookie" and "Insomniac" featured a raw, punk-influenced sound with fast tempos, distorted guitar riffs, and socially conscious lyrics. A new album in this style could feature a stripped-down, aggressive sound with a focus on fast-paced songs and politically charged lyrics. Pop-influenced: Green Day's later releases like "American Idiot" and "Revolution Radio" incorporated elements of pop and arena rock into their sound, resulting in a more polished and commercially successful sound. A new album in this style could feature more radio-friendly, catchy songs with an emphasis on catchy melodies and upbeat tempos. Experimental: Green Day has a history of experimenting with different musical styles and approaches, and a new album in this style could feature a diverse range of influences and sounds. This could include elements of genres such as folk, electronic, or funk, as well as more unconventional song structures and instrumentation.1 point

This time, I’m sure they’ll announce a single a few weeks in advance, and I doubt they’ll make us wait for the album as long as we did for FOAM (September-February). If I had to guess, maybe March-April (Or May)1 point

You hate feeling good. Maybe go listen to FOAM for a few days. Billie wrote it just for people like that, haha! 1972 is coming in the next 11 months and 27 days. I say we all put Father of All Dot Dot Dot on a loop until then. Even if 1972 coming out earlier than December 31st, 2023, just wait. Keep listening to FOAM Forever. Now.1 point

Since the album is all but confirmed to be done, there is a percent chance higher than 0 that they surprise release the album1 point

Def not true they had their voicemails for a couple years and the official greendaymusic.com forum that we(probably no one else here) used to use before this one also their website was pretty updated and Brian Dr Ron greenday.net became part of official news and fan shit also between 1995 and nimrod era there was a lot of updates on official site. Also there was this awesome site called rockontv.com that would tell you any tv appearance even an interview that wascoming up for any band it was pretty cool1 point

This is your craziest post so far, it is obvious they are different people. They do not even share the same name, how could they be the same person? They don't even have the same bone structure, this is truly an insane post1 point

And ironically many of their biggest hits like Good Riddance, BOBD, WMUWSE and 21 Guns are their softest songs1 point

What do you mean by "heavy". Green Day has never really had an album that's very heavy musically, at least not since the 90's. When I think of heavy Green Day songs, I think of Take Back, Platypus, Horseshoes & Handgrenades, Bang Bang and a few others. And these songs are few and make up a small percentage of their albums. RevRad is as heavy sounding as basically all of their albums released in the 21st century. Albums like FOAMF and the trilogy are rock albums, just as much as the albums from the 90's or 00's. Even their more punk sounding albums of the 90's aren't that heavy.1 point
