I think they will definitely release something at some point in the future. I am certain we will get an announcement, a single, an album when the release date for any one of these things comes. I'm even predicting we perhaps get another album a few years down the line, with a possible single or singles beforehand. these things will all happen either before, after, or on at least somebody's birthday.10 points

Nah, I'm a big supporter of GDFan2019. We need more optimism and excitement and wild predictions. Keep up the good work!6 points

I feel the same way! I fell in love with UNO instantly and it's still my favorite of the trilogy. I have such fond memories of this era because it's the first time I was active in the fan community. I joined Idiot Nation, I officially joined GDC around that time, bought tickets to my first Green Day concert, and started chatting with other fans. I was so happy. I still remember getting UNO at midnight because of my pre-order. I stayed up alllll night listening to it, trying to memorize every song. Of course, Billie's rehab stint brought the mood down. I was really sad and worried, but despite this this era of Green Day still has a lot of great memories for me. And it felt like such a redemptive moment when the 99 Revolutions toured opened up in my state and Billie was overcome with emotion because we waited for him and were just happy that he's back on stage where he belongs. Gah what a great time. I've been wanting to write about this for a while. Trying to get that in the works for a fun article.6 points

I just realized this a few days ago and had the same reaction. Objectively, I think it's the best trilogy album but at the time I liked those rockin tunes from Dos just a bit more. It was an exciting time to be a Green Day fan, no long wait for the album and we were getting 3 of them! They were coming off a huge tour and 21CB was still massive for them. What happened with Billie Joe sucked and the production was somewhat of a letdown. It was over-compressed, it's a complaint I have with several albums recorded at that time. NOFX had an album around that time that also suffered from it. It wasn't their most cohesive records but I had 37 songs from a band I loved and a ton of time to digest it. All the songs were ones that were for me and me only. Not really something I could say about Green Day before that with their massive success. There was also just a big change in direction, Mike's playing became more prominent in their sound again, they became more open to shifting away from big studios and taking on more of the recording and engineering duties on their own, they shifted to a more power pop sound etc The trilogy and it's era was very mixed for me, as mixed as it's critical reception. Perhaps if it was just a reworked tracklist mostly based on Uno it would have been better received. The world just wasn't open to a rock trilogy at a time where it barely had an attention span to listen to 3 teasers on a SoundCloud account.4 points

Or they can take a likely much-needed break, like they've always done over the holidays time.4 points

One day left for 1972 release. Could be tomorrow, could be in 1972 days.3 points

What did we do? We're just excited. Would they rather no one talked about it or gave a shit when they were releasing new music?3 points

It astounds me that even after Billie has confirmed 2023 as a date, we are still sitting here with predictions that something is due to be announced at any given time.3 points

1972 won't be called 1972. That's just some random tagline they are using a working title. At this very moment in time, at 7pm sharp.....I"m thinking the album title will be Blue Whales and The Bamboozled Network Band Explode Into Glory. Song titles could include but are not limited AT ALL: 1972 Sucks. Forgive the Ants. Coffee Blood River Sand Repent! (Featuring The Rolling Stones) Catch Those Dreams, !@@#$ I'm A Falling I'm B Falling Lady, I Love Ya (Featuring the Mystic Knights of the Cobra) Reach Your Heart The Saints Are Coming (featuring Weezer and Lil Wayne) God Is Lovely Scratching Fiends And The JOS (featuring U2 and Metallica) We're Normal Now (featuring Highly Suspect) F(woo) Us / Bark At Your Love / Spirits Die Young Saints Go Home Again2 points

It's okay to be excited and optimistic, I am. But when you're 0 in 143 in your predictions you can take a break.2 points

They’re always way off with their descriptions of course but it is fun to read about what the album sounds like.2 points

I'm hoping we soon get a magazine article from Kerrang or Alternative Press where the writers get an exclusive first listen at the album, they reveal a couple song titles, and they describe each track. I think it was Alternative Press that did this for 21CB. I remember they described Know Your Enemy as being reminiscent of a Dookie track, and Before The Lobotomy having a Beatlesque intro.2 points

I also have a feeling that major labels like to release albums of their best selling artists around September/October. In general, the time before Christmas is the strongest for sales. But someone here (I can't remember who) once said that it could be benefitial for Green Day to release albums in January/February because in these months there isn't that much competition in the charts.2 points

Nobody could have made that up because setlist.fm said that zero people went to that show. It was just the band playing to an empty venue to prove they are still punk.2 points

They have all these bag restrictions now yet this was totally fine. Nevermind that you could bludgeon someone with it2 points

I bet it is too. Adrienne must be absolutely fed up with this nonsense. She needs to slip security a 100 dollar bill so she can get to her husband....and just punch him in the face. "It's been like 30 years. Get over her already. Only write songs about me, you American Idiot." But as Billie Joe lays in the floor with cartoon birds flying around his head, Adrienne can already see it in his eyes...... He's wondering how Whatshername has been. I bet Amanda was born in 1972.2 points

“Could I have done without the superfluous cover of Kiss’ “Rock and Roll All Nite?” Sure, especially considering it’s a slot in the set list that could have gone to any number of Green Day originals that would have made the theater go bananas, like “She” or “Bang Bang” or “Nice Guys Finish Last” or “The Grouch” or “Warning.” “ Respect. ✊🏻 This author knows his stuff2 points

So they will be 100 and I will be 87. I'm a bit scared of getting roughed up at a concert at 36. At 87 I'm definitely gonna be grumpy. And yes, I was born in 19-19-1985.1 point

It was on setlist.fm, but has been taken down. This is what they said though: 1. 1972 2. How Much Longer 3. Maybe Forever 4. Pollyanna 5. Things I Heard Today 6. Jennifer 7. Holy Toledo 8. New Found Love 9. Should I Stay? 10. Crystal ENCORE: 11. JAR 12. Going ot Pasalaque 13. Christie Road 14. She (secret venue for family and friends) and then the second "secret show" on setlist.fm as well. Also taken down. 1972 Story About Forever Dirty Dirty Brainstew (partial) Untitled New Song (partial) I really like these song titles and how it ALMOST seems real.1 point

As long as it was a trilogy, it was always going to get more hate than all their previous albums (apart from Warning maybe) regardless of whether they were there to promote it. Oh Love & Kill the DJ got its fair share of hate even before iHeartRadio happened. And people would still be saying that there was a lot of filler on the album. Nightlife would still be hated. The Forgotten would still be unfairly criticized for being on Twilight. It may have done a little better in the mainstream but GD fans still wouldn't have been that kind However, I personally prefer it as a trilogy. Not because every track is perfect but because there's still far more than an albums worth of material there. Even if they made it an 18 track album like 21CB, we'd still miss out on some decent tracks imo. If they were to release a single album, I'd still want the rest of the tracks (or most of them at least) to be released in some way or form whether that be under the Foxboro Hot Tubs or another side project or something else I don't think the trilogy was that out there for the band anyway though. If you think about it, for 21CB they released around 2 hours worth of material from 2008 and 2009. Stop Drop & Roll (32:37 + 2:40 for Highway 1), 21st Century Breakdown (69:13), B-sides (2:16 + 2:39) which totals 1:49:25 of original material. If you want to include the iTunes deluxe bonus tracks (7:59 + 2:46 + 2:01 + 6:10), then that's 2:08:21 of material in total. So really the only difference in 2012 was how they packaged the material as a trilogy 2008-2009 is peak Green Day in terms of quantity & quality. The only material from this era I'm not a fan of is 1 or 2 of the covers they did Is that 2nd clip at the end of the video actual music for 1972? Because that doesn't sound like anything they've done before1 point
