They told us months ago that it won't be released until 2023. That's literally all they've told us about 1972. Stop expecting an announcement. It's probably not gonna happen until at least December. We don't know how big of a project this is. Maybe the reason it's taking this long is because it's a lot longer or more of an ambitious project than RevRad or FOAM. Or maybe they just want to make sure that they get it right this time so we don't have another FOAM situation I'd get it if it had been 5 years since the last GD project but it's been less than 3 years since FOAM and there was a Network project and 3 Green Day songs (and a covers album) released since FOAM. Idk why everyone is so desperate to hear something immediately. I don't want them to release something before they're happy with the project11 points

“Could I have done without the superfluous cover of Kiss’ “Rock and Roll All Nite?” Sure, especially considering it’s a slot in the set list that could have gone to any number of Green Day originals that would have made the theater go bananas, like “She” or “Bang Bang” or “Nice Guys Finish Last” or “The Grouch” or “Warning.” “ Respect. ✊🏻 This author knows his stuff6 points

I love seeing all these people realising that Green Day are a great live band for the first time6 points

I know it was only posted because it had been reposted in a (now gone) instagram story but I've removed the trash Daily Mail photos. We prefer to avoid having invasive paparazzi photos posted on here.5 points

Yeah that's a possibility I guess. There's also about 10,000 more possibilities too. It's obviously fine to speculate but I'm just saying, on the very first page of this thread you were thinking maybe we'll get a single around February or March in 2021. Now obviously that was before we knew if they were making an album or an EP but we still don't really know anything about the album. The album may still not be out by the midway point of 2023 for all we know4 points

Yes to be clear it's trash because it's Daily Mail/paparazzi/body shaming disguised as an "article"! Not because of Billie's belly (❤️) No worries! They don't get photographed by the paparazzi much so it doesn't come up very often, just kind of an unofficial policy we have.4 points

They probably want to detach this project from the Hella Mega tour and solo shows that followed it. The good point is the the F1 october shows are the last ones added to the tour, so they will probably wrap everything up, take a little season vacation, start rehearsing in late january and go on tour on spring/summer with the new album already out4 points

I wish! it actually had me convinced it was real for a second. it's been taken down now, but screen shots are saved so I can sit here in stare at it the rest of the night. Imagine if Things I Heard Today actually ended up on 1972. WOW. I could never be restrained if I made a fake set list. It would a 70 song show with all sorts of stupid covers in there. "Seseme Street Theme Song", played 9 times in a row. Bohemian Rhapsody but played backwards. 3 times in a row. Too Dumb To Die Ruby Room A Quick One (While He's Away) The Saints Are Coming Hitchin a Ride Oh Love X-Kid Meet Me on the Roof Nightlife (50 times in a row)4 points

Yeah she didn’t even give examples for the things she was blaming them for except for the n word in American Eulogy and the LOTAG book (which was just a comics lyric book but someone wrote a horrible annotation for it). Thank god more research wasn’t put into it though, if she found The Network’s masterpiece C.U.N.T. she’d have a field day and I couldn’t even disagree.3 points

The internet is full of these videos. If they’d added funny music it could have gone viral3 points

Me too, and I noticed yesterday their YouTube followers were up but can’t remember exactly what it was. Think the tour has maybe been good for them, sure the number is up nearly 1M.3 points

I have. It's like wikipedia anyone can edit it. This is definitely a fake setlist, I'm positive we would have heard something about these new songs by now if they played them there. And them playing random (non album) lookout era songs for the first time in 30 years, c'mon yeah fuckin right. Alright which one of you guys made the setlist?3 points

Actually, 1972 is the most realistic song title on that setlist. It could very well be the album's title track. Think Warning, American Idiot, 21CB, RevRad, and FOAM3 points

If they are making a documentary about the making of the album, I'd enjoy that. Each album has different development and its always interesting to see how they go about it each time. I don't want anything more than that. I don't want to see some reflection piece about the band. I feel like we have gotten more than enough material and interviews about their past and how they became the band they are. Even if the guys are 51, 1972 could still be the name of the album. Who cares if they are 51 when it comes out, they were still born that year. This should be something as new and as fresh as they can make it. If they try copying some old style of theirs, I would actually be disappointed3 points

I don't think this is real, I could think is possible but why the band would like to play songs like Things I heard today, Maybe Forever and Jennifer after all these years??? TIHT is from 2001-2002 and Maybe Forever and Jennifer are from Lookout Era.2 points
