  7. You are probably right but there is plenty of footage of him stopping playing to call out/remove fans who are behaving like assholes at other shows.

  8. On a similar theme to the CDs versus streaming conversation, am I the only one who prefers paper tickets/print at home tickets over e-tickets? I can see how e-tickets are quick to get into the venue and it saves postage of the tickets, but some people like to keep the paper tickets from the concert or are worried about accessing e-tickets at the venue. We had e-tickets for Bryan Adams 3 months ago but none of our devices were picking up a good enough Wi-Fi signal at the arena (which Showsec employees at the arena admitted isn’t great) so we had to queue to get paper tickets at the box office. We’ve since got into another gig at the arena with screenshots on my phone of the e-tickets, but I liked being able to choose to print my HM ticket at home over an e-ticket as I could keep it as a souvenir (not to mention I knew there wasn’t going to be hassle at the venue with paper tickets).

  10. Oh man I hope that’s what they’re teasing and it’s not just a Cuatro reference because this is a Trilogy era clip. I even more excited for another docu than I am for new music.

  15. My pettiest unpopular Green Day opinion is that it irks me that Billie gets a feminist icon reputation online for the dropkick… He probably got drunk and fought some guy and someone made up the story that it was to protect a girl from being assaulted and obviously it’s cool, he gets positive attention for it so that’s good, but I just don’t believe it’s true. I think he was just drunk and angry and took it out on some dude.

  22. Why would he need to "warm up" when he's been playing shows all year?

  23. I say they're a rock band who's punk at their core.

  24. It all depends on your definition of pop punk. Some considers pop punk any form of mainstream punk rock emerged from the 90’s punk rock revival. In this case Green Day definitely belongs here. Others use pop punk to define those 00’s bands born from the commercial success of 90’s punk rock bands, usually having an even more polished and accessible sound. In this case Green Day sits in a different bucket. There is a clear generational, musical and stylistic difference between Green Day and bands such as Sum 41 or Simple Plan, so if we really need to use labels, I think it’s fair to have different labels for them. That said Green Day developed a quite unique sound during the year (remember how easily a certain bunch of kids which rhymes with land trolled us by replicating it?), and in the last 15 years got heavily influenced by other genres, mainly power pop. So hard to answer.

  26. With all the hashtags they put in the teasers, I’m surprised none of them are hinting at possible song titles. Maybe 1972 will also be the name of the first single.

  29. I find the no screenshot thing to be weird. I've always taken screenshots as a just in case (my phone doesn't always like the reception at Sox park). I've never had an issue with doing it this way, and this year was the first time I've heard any venues say no screenshots. How do they even tell the difference unless they try swiping your phone? If they did that for every person, it'd take forever for everyone to get in.

  35. Green Day is Green Day I compare them to no other. And frankly I don’t give a sh** if they are pop punk or punk rock…. when a song sounds good a song sounds good. They have a lot of good sounds.

  37. In my eyes what happened was Green Day pretty much invented pop punk with Dookie, then as other bands (Blink 182 and everything similar that came after) were influenced by that and became popular they kind of developed the pop punk genre into it's own thing --meanwhile Green Day veered off course and continued to do whatever the fuck they wanted, releasing a folk punk album and then a punk rock opera for example. They're probably one of the most popular punk bands ever, so yeah - they're pop punk. But most of their music is actually pretty vastly different from most other music that you'd typically place under the 'pop punk' moniker.

  38. Pissed the Bed is my new favorite Green Day song, so don't discount the good ole Mayu Yan just yet. As far as it being their "best in years".....yes, I agree. It's better than their entire discography except maybe Father of All. Allegations Smellagations. You forget the deluxe deluxe deluxe super mega unicorn deluxe shenanigans edition of the new album, with beloved tracks such as: Public Eye. Siren head. Hardcore Breakneck Pyscho Rap and a cover of Paradise By The Dashboard Light by Meat Loaf, which is 30 minutes long and has some elements of the Midwest Medley which is interesting because apparently we or you are of midwest origin. They also cover Panic at the Disco's Middle of a Breakup and combine it with THunderstruck by AC/DC.

  40. I do miss the days I kept all my ticket stubs from shows, but I stopped when etickets came along that never felt the same to me as an old machine printed ticket ripped in half. The digital tickets I don’t like are the kind you can only open in the company app (like AXS) and I do worry about those wondering if they’ll work when you need them too. Ticketmaster ones I like because you can add them to your Apple wallet and those are downloaded you don’t need Wifi to be working to access them.

  44. Hey all, I looked in the Unreleased & Rare section of this forum and was surprised to see this unique remix of 2000 Light Years Away was not included. Link to lossy version: This mix is remarkable for being spread out wider, brighter, and having the backing vocals be more prominent, and is to my knowledge the only proper multi-track remix of a Kerplunk track. Due to licensing issues it's unavailable for streaming in its respective album online. Does anyone have this song in lossless quality to share? Thank you!

  45. According to Green Day FAQ by Hank Bordowitz which is another good reference book they recorded 1,000 Hours in 1988 and released it in April 1989. Then they recorded 39/Smooth in late December 1989 and the album is released in “early 1990”. Then they recorded Slappy on April 20, 1990 and it is released in “Summer 1990”. So, no it does not appear that the release of 39/Smooth was delayed to record the Slappy EP. It came out before, likely January or February 1990.

  48. I buy CDs as I like to have a physical copy of albums, I transfer them onto my IPod. I also listen to music on Spotify, although it’s mainly songs that I don’t have on my IPod that I listen to on Spotify. I’ve also used Spotify as a means to try an album before I buy it.
