  1. I’m convinced the album will release on tre’s birthday. evidence: -it’s a Friday this year, and that’s now when albums tend to come out - 1972 makes most sense both released this year and once everyone is 50 And I’m going to say first single around my birthday because it’s nice to think positively

  2. When Matt speaks that succinctly and definitively, he has some insight. At least if the past 15+ years of history holds true to form.

  3. Wow, after months of no Green Day dreams I had a pretty in depth one last night: I was in some bleachers/seats that I believe were in an arena, because Billie was on the stage, but it just seemed to be him and he was talking instead of playing an instrument (all the details are fuzzier now because I didn’t get to write it down in the morning right after). I realized that I could get closer, pretty much right up to the railing/barrier, because there actually weren’t that many people there. Whatever this was seemed to be fairly informal and Billie was talking with the audience. I went up close to the front and got pretty close to him and was fangirling a little because he walked past me. Don’t remember much more from that part, but it somehow morphed to a different situation with all the same people there. Some of them were GDCers (@jengd and @Rumpelstiltskin2000 I think even though I don't know what you look like! I think it was like your avatars or something). It seemed to be Billie’s house (?) but it was small and everything looked very old (like “old person” style). Billie was messing with setting up a very small, black and white antenna TV from like the 50s or 60s that he had apparently restored because we were all going to watch something. The other TVs in this house were old as well. He did not appear to have a flatscreen anywhere. I was looking at the TV thinking ‘are we really going to watch something on this?’ and was right up in front of it, inspecting it. Billie was right next to me, fiddling with it and trying to get it to work. All I can remember about his appearance is he had shorter hair and was wearing a brown sweater. He got the TV working and it started playing something. It was this weird old timey thing about fur trappers and hunters or something that lasted about 10 mins and ended up just being a commercial for cigarettes. I turned to Billie asked him if he had finished Stranger Things because I wanted to tell him about Fear Street (a new slasher movie trilogy on Netflix) since Sadie Sink (who plays Max in ST) is in a couple of them as well as Maya Hawke (who plays Robin). However, before I got the chance to say anything to him about it, my alarm went off and I woke up.

  4. Look I’m sorry, not meaning to sound rude, but how do you want them to keep those songs permanently on their setlist, if you haven’t even heard them yet?

  5. Wow the views on all their TikToks are in the tens to low hundreds of thousands but for some reason the one with Billie signing autographs at O’Hare Airport has 3.4 million. They need to get him to do more.

  6. Idk Billie seems likely to be in the know

  7. Billie was in my passenger seat in my dream last night. I don't remember exactly how he got there but I think Green Day were playing in my city and they trusted me to drive Billie around now I've passed my driving test. Anyway, a bird shat on my windscreen and I tried to park to wash it off, but the handbrake wouldn't work and even the footbrake had gone to shit because the car just rolled everywhere. Billie even had a go at the handbrake but it didn't help. At some point I must've got the car stationary and I tried to use the screenwash to get rid of the bird poo, but it wasn't working. The screenwash was clear at first but it was apparently full of gunk and horse poo. It eventually exploded all over my windscreen and flooded the engine until it sounded like the car was about to explode with us in it. We jumped out and I was like "Billie! You know all about cars! Do something!" And then I saw Mike getting a parking ticket so I ran to the machine, but the only options for parking there were "getting a bus" and "shopping" and I was just like "my car is exploding, don't give me a ticket!" I started to get quite annoyed with Billie because he was just staring at the engine and walking around the car. Then he got back in and tried to drive it. I don't know if it ever exploded. The dream changed to something else I don't remember. Green Day, you can trust my driving, but you can't trust my peasant wagon. It might be full of horse poo. Anyway, this was definitely a driving anxiety dream featuring Billie and Mike, not a Green Day dream. Edit: I just remembered what the dream changed to... we discovered that "I never had a problem dissecting the math" was FAKE NEWS and the true lyric was "I never had a problem dissecting a man" after all. I was going to post about it on GDA but something delayed me (probably the exploding car) and then I wasn't sure if it was worth posting anymore. How foolish! Of course that would be worth posting! I'm very late to this post but it made me snort my chocolate bar, thanks

  8. I’m in denial because that’s a silly idea, and it would just make more sense this year. (And who says billie was telling the truth/knew for certain when things were happening) End of September. Way too optimistic to be fair. Far more likely a single for tre’s birthday.

  9. The very first 1972 teaser (Rak studios) sounded almost like a FOAM song, same with the "share this song with your dog" teaser. All the newer teasers sound much more American idiot, and in general a bit heavier. I wonder if a reason this album is taking so long is because they decided to re-record some of the songs with Rob to make a more authentic Green Day sounding album 🤔🤔🤔 Oh and also songsforassholes account now has exactly 72 post. Lol no fuckin way it's a coincidence

  10. It's a nice theory, but it doesn't square with Billie saying it would be released in 2023. It's highly likely something might happen around that Birthday though, whether it's them announcing the album, dropping a single or whatever. The other thing is, I don't like that things are this way, but these days, albums are often announced a good 4-5 months in advance or more, with singles dropping way ahead of the album's release. It's not impossible that the band may come with an announcement soon, but even if they did it could "only" possibly be 3, maximum 3 and a half months ahead of the albums release and singles would also have to start dropping very soon.

  14. Celebrating the two biggest albums of their career while also injecting a massive amount of 1972 songs into the setlist, with Billie saying "We've learned to look back a little, but we gotta look forward too, ya know?" And after all the smack I've talked about proper representation of all their albums in concert, I'd be okay if they did this idea and ignored everything else. Idiot, Dookie, 1972. What I'm pondering now is how much of each one they play. Here's what I've come up with: 1. Welcome to Paradise 2. She 3. Pulling Teeth 4. Holiday 5. She’s a Rebel 6. Coming Clean 7. St. Jimmy 8. Longview 9. Letterbomb 10. 1972 song (ballad) 11. 1972 song (insane punk rocker) 12. Boulevard of Broken Dreams 13. Wake Me Up When September Ends 14. 1972 Song (1950s style song) 15. Extraordinary Girl 16. Burnout 17. Having a Blast 18. When I Come Around ENCORE: 19. Eminus Sleepus 20. Give Me Novacaine 21. 1972 song (Idiot style song) 22. Basketcase 23. Jesus of Suburbia 24. American Idiot 25. 1972 Song (Billie states that he never in his wildest dreams thought he could outdo Jesus of Suburbia, but this songs is called JNS and it’s 11 minutes song. The song ends with a medley of Nobody Likes You and All By Myself as images from the Boulevard of Broken Dreams video go across the entire stage.

  17. I rarely dream at all but last night I was somehow at a weird small club for a GD show. It had a two tier stage and at one point Mike appeared on the top floor in a red check maxi skirt, chunky boots and a shaved head Billie was dressed exactly like he was for New Year 2019/20. There were about three rows of faceless people in front of the stage and I was sat at a round table on a big white wooden chair at it behind them. My shoe broke (random I know). Next thing a woman pulls a curtain round the stage and Billie says something to everyone about going for a helicopter ride We were flying over water (Caribbean looking?) and I woke up I love that we looked like our avatars

  18. It actually had 72 posts since the time we were speculating about it, before FOAM was announced. I actually started getting the American Idiot vibes from the 3rd teaser. And even this one, the second teaser, reminds me of Give Me Novacaine

  20. I third that Pinhead Gunpowder is meh. A few good songs but nothing remarkable imo

  21. Meh, I'd say walking catastrophe or anniversary . Everything else is kinda bland

  22. The only good Pinhhead Gunpowder song is their cover of Achin' To Be.

  23. True and there are also plenty of artists that buck the trend I outlined (I hope Green Day will too). But for all the talk of a break from Warner or more creative leeway, I'm sure they'll still be making some strategic marketing decisions, especially if they're proud of this new album (as it seems like they are) and want it to succeed. So, in the unlikely case of a release this year, an announcement would have to come extremely soon in my view, whilst they're still on tour, in fact.

  24. Green Day has only done that with FOAMF and they only did it to coincide with the releases of the Fall Out Boy and Weezer singles and to create hype for the Hella Mega tour. And despite the album being announced months ahead of the album's release, there were still only 3 singles released before the album which is pretty normal for them

  25. I mean, from what we’ve seen in the teasers, they clearly love this album. And they just haven’t given the Trilogy, FOAM, and even RevRad the love they deserved!! Maybe if the 1972 tour is not a Hella Mega 2, so to speak, and it’s just them with a smaller opening act, then they’d have more time for a longer set list

  26. I really hope they keep the 1972 songs in the setlist permanently!!!

  27. Dookie is going to turn 30 too!!!!

  28. They were still born in 1972 next year though - they’ll all be 50 until February 17

  29. I speculate that an anouncement about an album will be in October-November following a single release in February-March. The album release date probably April-May 2023. I was expecting the album release at the end of this year but I see it won't be before 2023. It seems that they're putting so much energy/work to this new album and they wouldn't wanna release it before its the right time for them. 2023 and 2024 will be the year of Green Day.

  32. Something about the three GD wives simultaneously taking pregnancy tests. They were all negative. And something about Mike being in a movie with Rosario Dawson. Why was all this floating around in my subconscious? I don't know.
