Sorry to everyone who tried and didn't get them. We'll have to have a "watch party" in this thread and hopefully can have some fun scouring the internet for videos!10 points

I can't predict how it will be for Green Day's show. But I went to the Foo Fighters gig at the Metro back in 2017, which was also a Lollapalooza aftershow. I drove down to Chicago and arrived around 2-3 pm, and there were maybe 20-30 people lined up. Once they opened up the store for some of the merchandise, that line dwindled down to somewhere around or under 10! More people arrived over time, but a lot of those people just bought merchandise and left, which was really odd. There were a few people up front in the line that didn't even have tickets, but were openly offering people online hundreds of dollars for an extra ticket. Maybe even a little more than that! (I think I later met one person who claims to have paid a scalper 2-3k for his). Right before doors opened, the line split into two... the people that bought tickets and people that were on the "band list". By that point, I think I was around #4 in the "regular" line, despite not arriving until the mid-afternoon. Some of the people who had lined up hadn't secured a ticket yet, so went back in the line in hopes of getting one after doors opened. In terms of why not as many people had lined up early on in the day, I feel a lot of it had to do with just how small of a show it was (1200 people is about the limit of the Metro, I think?). So not that many people had tickets in the first place, particularly if some were able to buy two of them. And maybe some people were actually coming in from the festival, hence the meaning behind the show and its later start time. Great show, btw! I was in front of Dave Grohl the whole time and even exchanged a few words with him during the course of the night, After the band hit the three hour mark, he asked everyone what time it was, and I just held out my phone so he could see it. He then shouted the time out to everyone and the band proceeded to play for another half hour! If you have a chance to see Green Day in a small venue and can make the trip, you should absolutely try for a ticket.6 points

People who line up overnight need to quit that bullshit so everyone can come to the show well rested, fed and at a reasonable hour and have a good time without lots of unnecessary drama. Now that’s my rant.4 points

It's disgusting. Luckily the idiot links to his band page with his full name listed, so the authorities will have no trouble tracking him down!3 points

I’ve always been the one to be jealous of all the club shows not in my city. And then here we are and I couldn’t make it work. But now besides hubby having an early wake up call on Saturday he’s asked me to work with him as he’s short staffed. A 12 hour day on my feet. I would never have made it after a show. Sometimes life is not how you want it to be.3 points

Struck out too. I feel like the 1,000 people that scored are more like lucky contest winners. This feels so random when so many of us were in line so early. Oh well. Hoping for a good recording.3 points

It now officially says sold out on the ticket page. GG.3 points

At this point I'm sure they are making an experimental rock album 😄😄3 points

Believe me I've seen 8-10 people overnight turn into 100+ before doors! There's also those who "know everyone", arrive at 4pm and stand to chat with whoever they know that's closest to the front and never move! Don't get me wrong I've nothing against people taking toilet breaks, grabbing something to eat or having a quick nap in the car but too many people really take the piss. My rant over!3 points
-
YES! So you get in line and think "Oh yay!!! I'm only third in line!!!! WOOT!!!!".......then just before doors open, each of those 3 people before you have 5 or so people join them out of nowhere, and now you're, what, 15th, 16th in line. That's BS. Where were YOU all day while I was out here lining up?!?! I hate that shit. Ok. My rant is done. LOL Has anybody gotten anything from The Metro after signing up for the newsletter? I haven't.....and I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything.3 points

Exactly! Bad enough when they think they are the arbiters of taste but if it comes down to bribes, which this basically is, then that’s disgraceful!3 points

Seems like their set will be broadcasted. On Hulu's site under the Lolla section is lists Green Day with the time of 8:15 CT.3 points

Welp...have fun peeps. Pretty disappointed but this was to be expected. This is why I kind of hate these shows.2 points
-
Keep trying! give it some time. I remember for the Philly Longshot show I waited about 30 mins and got in again and was able to get them.2 points

Was not expecting the price of these. Wow. Would have expected them to cost more, tbh2 points

I‘ve seen them a couple of times. Rock am Ring 2018 was probably one of the funniest shows ever. Dave lost his voice after 3-4 songs so his bandmates stepped to the mic to sing for the rest of the set 😂2 points

You were in front of our rock n roll lord and savior Dave Grohl?? Lucky!!! I tried to get tickets to that...no dice. I would love to see Dave Grohl in person some day. Just because he's a cool dude. He's the goodest boy in rock music.2 points

No, you're right. There is an etiquette to lining up. Tons of people need to learn it. You arrive with all parties that will attend concert.........all of you wait for at least a few hours.....let everybody behind see that they are there.....then you can start taking turns, one at a time, to go get food, pee, nap in car, whatever. But yeah, you're right. The people that "know everybody", and conveniently wanna stay and talk to the people toward the front of the line. LOL2 points

The Brixton, UK show had no new songs. Was more like a warm up show for Reading and Leeds2 points

Wouldn't that be great if the setlist included Walking Contradiction, The Grouch, Deadbeat Holiday, FOD, No One Knows, Forever Now? That's when I call it extra special.2 points

We should try to get a concert just for GDA users.2 points

It wouldn't have mattered. I wonder if all the platinum members were guaranteed tickets and swiped them all. Seems there were not many available from the start1 point

My little progress bar is getting closer to the finish line...not sure there will be anything at the end, but fingers crossed!1 point

Haha, yep! I've been lucky enough to meet Dave in the past and had a few interactions with him from the rail over the years. But he is an amazing performer. That show is definitely in the Top 3 of the Foo shows I've seen over the years (which I've seen a lot of, lol). And it was definitely the closest one in terms of actual distance from the stage - I think Dave's mic stand was 4-6 feet away from me on a low stage, if that gives you any idea. I'll always be grateful for that show though and being able to secure a ticket in the first place, particularly after the terrible news a few months ago.1 point

Me too! Those that buy a ticket for someone to hold a place for them and their friends all day too!1 point

Sunday, so the 31st! So excited and jealous of everyone attending this 'secret' show. I wonder what songs they'll be playing, and if there will be any new ones!1 point

I'm hoping this means there might be more club shows coming in the future 🤞 Lots of luck to all of you trying for tickets, I hope you manage to get them and have the best time!1 point

It would be funny if they switched it up and played their Hella Mega setlist at the Metro, and then the new album and deep cuts only at Lollapalooza 😬1 point

I'm glad they're posting on social media but I kind of wish they would post on instagram more often. I don't even have tiktok but I go on insta a million times a day. I got so excited from their cryptic post today. Even before we knew exactly what it meant I knew it meant things are happening!1 point
