Because all the leakers we're actually us, and we all know how that turned out I wouldn't expect a single until October at earliest, BJA already says this album isn't going to be out til next year so I believe that5 points

I just realized something, and to me this confirms that these teasers are already months old. Look at the last 2 teasers. In the first one, he’s clean shaven https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRS8FtKL/?k=1 2 days later he has a salt and pepper beard https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRS8JxW5/?k=14 points

But GDFan has a feeling. Doesn't that mean we should be getting an announcement and new single any day now??3 points
-
That was at Henson Studios in May so I think they were mixing then since the recording already happened at RAK (October and March) and Ocean Way (not sure when - April maybe?) It’s gotta be done now.3 points

I think that's more like 'they have no idea what's coming/how good this is gonna be'. I say the same thing to myself whenever I write something I'm super proud of.2 points

I'm surprised we haven't gotten any tracklist leaks this time, real or fake, yet, and that's odd, even for 4Chan!!!2 points

And of course they’ll definitely start the promotion with secret shows where they play 1972 from start to finish2 points

I would be very happy about some Trilogy, 21CB and RevRad songs too, but if they want to fill stadiums, they need American Idiot songs. We have to be that realistic.2 points

I don’t think so. Remember @pacejunkie punk’s daughter saw them recently when she was on a school trip at one of the recording studios1 point

Exactly. At this point, American Idiot in full would only add an extra 25-30 minutes or so to the set, which let's face it, isn't a lot of extra time needed to potentially do it. The time they normally spend at the end of JOS not playing the song is probably almost enough time to swap out for including She's A Rebel. Of course I'd love to see some deep, deep cuts from the discography but people need to realise that American Idiot is probably the best and most iconic album the band has ever done (It's not my favourite anymore, but best doesn't have to equal favourite). Not doing an anniversary celebration in some way would be a huge missed opportunity for the band, and choosing to do one doesn't have to mean that they can't also support their new album, nor does it mean that it has to last a long time. They could bring back the album art (without the FOAM shit all over it) and play some songs that not only I, but a massive portion of their fanbase would want to hear, like seriously guys, when was the last time they played Whatsername live? Someone, anyone tell me you don't want to hear that song live. Assuming this new album will have the usual 2 or 3 singles, they'd probably only need to make room for about 5 songs, lose the covers and KFAD (I still can't believe they brought that back) and you've got yourself more than enough time to do the new songs, unless BJ suddenly decides he likes long ones again now and has a couple on the new record, but we'll cross that bridge when/if we ever get to it. Doing a shared American Idiot/1972 tour would not only satisfy a lot of old fans (20 years has gone so fast...) but be great advertisement for the new album. It's a win/win situation, not only for the band, but the fans too. Even if they don't do the anniversary/new album as a whole tour thing, it's still a win/win, and if it ends up being big enough, who'd say no to potentially having a new concert film? That would be especially great if they squeezed in a couple of trilogy songs and Bang Bang. Always Bang Bang. But lets not get ahead of ourselves, the point is, nothing bad would come from doing it, only good, and that's not even taking into consideration the jump start in hype that the next (next) album could have because of the potential success of hypothetical tour.1 point

Good catch! I wonder if it has both of their initials on it. It's definitely a new(er) one. The pervious ring was just a plain silver/white gold band.1 point

When someone gives you their business card, and their name is John Gallagher, and you have to resist asking them if they're the son of rage and love.1 point

I rather hear Nimrod, Insomniac, Kerplunk, 39, Warning and most any of the other albuns in full live, then American Idiot which has been the base of the setlist since the release1 point

Nah I’ve heard those songs enough. As much as I’d love to hear Homecoming live they have already milked the album to death. And it is my favorite album of all time lol. If they do it at all hopefully it’s a low-key surprise thing like the Dookie anniversary shows.1 point

Agreed but having said that I wouldn’t mind seeing Homecoming and Whatsername live 👀1 point

With expectations as high as American Idiot I can't see how anyone could be disappointed when the album will released... Remember FOAM anyone?1 point

I think it's intentional. They're just telling the fans that there's something in the works before they come out and reveal it officially to the whole world. They've done stuff like that in the past, and to be honest I think it's nice that they care about their fans enough to do stuff like this. Because it's not in marketing phase yet... they're literally just teases.. they don't actually reveal or announce anything besides that "something is coming". They even cover up the music and sound with another unrelated songs audio, as if they aren't quite ready for us to hear it yet. If that isn't evidence that this isn't "marketing" then I don't know what is. Now, I know that some smart cookies out there can actually isolate the song through fancy AI software stuff, but that's wayyyy beyond me... maybe @RongoIK might know how to help though1 point

The fact that they're not even teasing on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook is so stupid. So people who know about the next project is us or 15 years old kids.1 point

I thought at first I'd never like those two songs. I was a bit critical of the album when it first came out but now I love it all1 point

I really don't understand what's so bad about FOAM. You guys thought going around the world in 37 songs was too much but then think 10 songs is too little. Too late, and now I'm coming unglued! 😄 Trilogy and FOAM RULE! St. JIMMY!1 point

I have a better list of fillers songs: Father of All… Fire, Ready, Aim Oh Yeah! Meet Me on the Roof I Was a Teenage Teenager Stab You in the Heart Sugar Youth Junkies on a High Take the Money and Crawl Graffitia1 point

I'm sorry i don't understand maybe I've misunderstood, but personally I can't imagine Green Day using fillers. Followed Green Day since 1989 and listened to every song to come out of Billie Joe's head, all have been awesome. Not one has been out of place. It's just insane to think of Billie Joe throwing a song in to an album just to make up the numbers, fuck that.1 point

My source tells me they are halfway done recording tambourines. So we can expect the album sometime late 2024.1 point
