I think it's intentional. They're just telling the fans that there's something in the works before they come out and reveal it officially to the whole world. They've done stuff like that in the past, and to be honest I think it's nice that they care about their fans enough to do stuff like this. Because it's not in marketing phase yet... they're literally just teases.. they don't actually reveal or announce anything besides that "something is coming". They even cover up the music and sound with another unrelated songs audio, as if they aren't quite ready for us to hear it yet. If that isn't evidence that this isn't "marketing" then I don't know what is. Now, I know that some smart cookies out there can actually isolate the song through fancy AI software stuff, but that's wayyyy beyond me... maybe @RongoIK might know how to help though6 points

On a technical definition level, yes of course this is them "marketing" their stuff to their fans, but this isn't marketing in the typical sense. Usually the marketing phase starts with an album announcement, followed by a single announcement, then comes release dates, ads and music videos. What we have here is just the boys in the studio playing around with songs and equipment. This is not what they want EVERYONE to see, which is why they are only posting it where they know the fans are listening and without the rest of the world judging their stuff before it's ready. We don't even have concrete info on what the album is or what it'll even be called yet besides the 1972 thing they have been throwing around. An announcement isn't an announcement until they say "This is our new album, it's called 1972 and here's some info about it". Once that happens, then the actual marketing will likely start, just like it always has. Yes... but isn't that what I have been saying? They're literally saying "hey fans, look, we've got something in the works but we're not quite ready to show it yet, so here's some teases." That is not an official announcement, that's just them keeping us in the loop and being excited about what they are working on.5 points

https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRh6w86x/?k=1 #NewAlbum Album confirmed!!!! It’s not an EP!!!! Now I'm convinced it's coming really soon!!! The teasers only stopped because they were on tour, and now they're on a break before Lollapalooza5 points

The fact that they're not even teasing on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook is so stupid. So people who know about the next project is us or 15 years old kids.4 points

They must have definitely changed the name of the album because this latest TikTok teaser doesn't have the #1972 hashtag EDIT: I also just noticed it has a #newsong hashtag, so maybe that means a new single is imminent?!?!?!?!?!?3 points

I believe it has been exactly 7 months since the first teaser. Time flies…3 points

You are probably right, from the earlier studio videos I got vibes from both of these records. Uno's simplicity with a touch of RevRad's louder and more aggressive overall sound. I really, really wish that were the case, but I don't think that's what this album will be. I think if they were going super ambitious again they'd be keeping this thing more under wraps... and while it could still be a possibility, I didn't really get those kind of vibes with the snippets. From what I could tell, they didn't seem to be experimenting with a wide range of different sounds or styles or anything like that. That being said it was likely very early, and they might have just been figuring out how the songs fit together before adding in all the other instruments making the songs sound epic. Keeping in mind though, 21CB was apparently written on piano before it was translated to what we know, so that's also something to consider.2 points

What will come first- The album, or the 1,972nd page of this thread?2 points

What album or albums in their discog do you expect it to sound like? I'm thinking Revrad and Uno2 points
-
They might not have settled on a title yet or they have and now they want to save it until official announcement and promo begins (build anticipation and also avoid getting swooped again)2 points

Exactly. Many artists have used the same album and song names before. If Green Day have decided on the name, they'll likely keep it... All will be revealed when the album is... you know, revealed.2 points

I thought they'd abandoned the 1972 hashtag because another band already used it? Maybe I'm remembering it wrong?2 points

The EP we think was the original plan but we don’t know what it was intended to be other than a project recorded in London2 points

Your enthusiasm knows no bounds. But I believe that if they do release the songs, they'll be on 1972 or a future album that's not C&V. The band has grown since then and they could re-work them. There are quite a number of songs that have been in the making for years, I imagine they sound a lot different than originally.2 points
-
Next year marks the 20th anniversary of the C&V sessions, so I wonder if we'll ever get to hear the recordings. Because Mike once admitted that even though the session tapes were stolen, they still have the backups. So if that's the case, we'll potentially get 2 new albums next year, 1972 and C&V!!!2 points

Still boggles my mind that they never released a proper studio version of C&V2 points

Obviously the album is going to include a cover of the Eminem song Fack.1 point

https://etcanada.com/news/914054/john-gallagher-jr-s-winona-ryder-starter-pack-potential-newsroom-reboot-performing-with-green-day/ Gallagher also played a key role in the Green Day Broadway production American Idiot. The actor and musician lived out every Green Day fan’s dream of rocking out with Billie Joe Armstrong and friends onstage. “They have this side band called the Foxboro Hot Tubs. It’s kind of a side project. It’s kind of like a glorified bar band. They do a lot of covers and they play these garage songs that sound like the Kinks or the Sonics. They don’t play as much anymore as they used to but there is a stretch there where they would play tiny clubs,” Gallagher says. “I remember one night it was a Sunday night we were doing American Idiot on Broadway and they played a Sunday night show at this club, the Bowery Electric in New York City, which only holds a couple hundred people. “They just crammed the place full of first come, first serve Green Day fans, and they played like a three-and-a-half-hour set. People were covered in beer. People were throwing keyboards, dousing themselves in Pabst Blue Ribbon. I got yanked up onstage to sing with Billie Joe a couple of times. I was stage diving. The end of the night gets a little fuzzy for me because I over-served myself. It was one of the most rock ‘n’ roll fun nights I think I’ve ever had. It all happened because Green Day was so generous with letting us into their social circle while we were doing that show.”1 point

to tease something is part of a marketing strategy. Promotion is not something that starts only when everything is done and ready to pre-sale. These studios clips are part of something that is coming, otherewise, they woudn't be out there1 point

If they want it to be 1972, it'll be 1972. I doubt they give a shit about another band shares the name (especially the black Crows lol)1 point
-
We wondered if they’d change it after Black Crowes released their album in May called 1972. That was around the time Green Day stopped using it so I have a feeling they decided to change it though that’s all the evidence we have. Nothing official explaining why1 point

They also still have the masters - would be very stupid for them to minimize the release of a new big album with a legacy scrap heap release though. That’s a fill in the gaps release1 point

Had a dream that was kind of a Hella Mega/Riding in Vans with Boys combo, but with different bands. The HM tour had just ended, and GD was releasing behind the scenes videos of their times with the other bands. But the other bands were The Offspring and Avenged Sevenfold (couldn't name you a single AS song, so I don't know how they got into my subconscious). GD had shared a house with AS, so most of the videos centered around that.1 point
-
Had a dream that GD was making a music video including Kevin. Don't remember much, just that it was Mike and Tre on one side and Billie and Kevin on the other, with people in the YouTube comments asking who Kevin was.1 point

So, at least I had a dream with Billie in it, still far from what I hoped for and god alone knows what it means. It started with what looked like a picture of three Billie’s on split zoom screen but stacked horizontally. On zooming in, the top one was some child actor’s dad who looked very like him (?) and the bottom one was Corey Taylor in a cowboy hat! Billie was in the middle looking like he did in that pic of him in a cafe in Amsterdam, glasses, black leather jacket, very nice. Kept zooming in, they were all talking and laughing, to Corey’s living room which had a huge coffee table with enormous plastic pillar legs with flowers in them and dozens of boxes of OMO washing powder all round the room, which was apparently, a protest against plastic use. Getting these beautiful pics and my brain is doing this!!!1 point
