Ever since the white boy summer tiktok/revoking citizenship day (have we ever got a more eventful day when it comes to Billie Joe news?) I’ve got into the horrible habit of going through his mentions on twitter and reddit, so I’m sorry to inform you Ted Nugent has accused him of “abusing a lot of substances” and “losing his soul” because apparently those are the prerequisites for caring about other people’s rights.6 points

It's rare that he has great hair off duty anyway. Don't blame him not wanting to continue the upkeep! It'll probably look cute when it grows out scruffy and then it'll be hobo Billie time3 points

I get messages from accounts pretending to be Mike a lot! Well maybe half a dozen times at least It's extra weird because I just have an account with regular photos and nothing about Green Day! Looks like Kevin might be back in the US already?3 points

I hope they have already finished recording claps. I was told that it take more time than it appears to have all the hands tuned3 points

The man wore a (faux) fur lined coat on a tour of sweaty clubs in the deep south in summer, it's Billie logic!3 points

He said the same thing at the Irish show on revrad too ”I’m an expat In moving here etc etc etc” was really funny to see how the US media blew this one completely out of proportion2 points

I don't think so. I was there when he said it in London, really felt like more of a spare of the moment comment based on trying to hype up the audience rather than anything that had any real planning behind it. We just shocked them with our energy2 points

I heard Rivers was at the Jesse Malin show the guys went to. I was hoping we’d get more pictures of the bands hanging out now that there seem to be no covid restrictions on this tour. From what we’ve seen it looks like they stayed in their camps mostly2 points
-
The minute the tour was over too, it was like he couldn’t wait. I don’t mind it though, it’ll grow back he changes it all the time2 points

My source tells me they are halfway done recording tambourines. So we can expect the album sometime late 2024.2 points

They didn't tell us explicitly that anything was or will be called 1972.2 points

His hair grows back quickly. Plus now that the tour is done, he'll probably go back underground for awhile.1 point

Is he really walking around in a sweatshirt and a coat in July? How does he not get a heatstroke or at least awfully sweaty? At this point I think it has to be some physical anomaly.1 point

Usually takes a week or so, but big bands with big budget could take a month, because recalls. Bands like Green Day also make the process twice, due vinyls.1 point

I hope this works because I am a bit useless at adding pictures!lol! Here is a few of my best ones from London. I couldn't remember who wanted pictures of the Union Jack flag, but here you go! I do love the one of Billie smiling during Good Riddance (even if it is from the screen!) 😍1 point

Now seen this in a couple of places. It says a fan asked Rob Cavallo about 1972 and he said it just needs mastered!1 point

I'm 100% positive that the project was at one point in time called 1972. I wouldn't be too surprised if over the course of making the project the name went through some changes. If I'm not mistaken it's been a little while since we saw a 1972 hashtag.1 point

He did mention it! And during the last song, Time of you life, he included verses from 80, he suddenly swithched it to "I do not mind if this goes on, cause now it seems I'm too far gone, I must admit that I enjoy myself, 80 please keep taking me away", and it was beautiful! Them he said "this is the last show of the tour, <...>, we saved the best for last, <...> I don't know what else to tell you, umm, I love you?" And this is picture of me and a friend I gave spare ticket. https://ibb.co/LdCpCWr1 point

Showed Mum (professional) pictures from the Huddersfield gig and she was shocked by how many tattoos Billie has and was asking if any are new. I told her that they aren't new it's just that he hasn't worn short sleeves on stage for years. And I thought it was cute during the Minority introductions when he said "and my name's Billie".1 point

I was thinking really hard about how they would incorporate that into the movie, because the downfall and rehab part is a staple in this kind of biopics and eventually I came to the conclusion that they’d leave it out because these movies work the best if they have a successful grand finale and they get that with the release of AI. That feels like the natural climax. Having that and then continueing the story to the part when the band is slightly behind its peak and Billie’s addiction gets bad and then it gets better and the band goes on to do pretty well is kind of… not enough of a Hollywood ending, you know… plus these movies are PR approved so I would bet the safer “old days” version is the one we’d get. (Even though 2012 is as stereotypically rockstar as he ever got). But yeah, if this was my story not a Hollywood biopic, the grand comeback would be revrad (and a lot of the early days stuff would be skipped. I’d trade the rise to fame story for the rockstar drama). And it could end with him gently laying the guitar down at iHeart 2019.1 point

The way mainstream PR approved biopics are done is so formulaic that they don’t even have to make individual movies, you can watch the ones that already exist and imagine whatever band you want it to be about… I feel like I know exactly how the GD one would look: 1st act: - Estabilishing the main character, BJA. Childhood scene, his talent is discovered. - The topic of BJA’s father’s illness is introduced. BJA meets Mike, they start playing together, we want the audience to see that they vibe. - BJA’s father dies, the boy finds solace in playing music. Eventually, he gets Blue. Fade to black, 10 years later… 2nd act - We cut directly to Billie playing Blue in a club. We learn that they’re a fairly successful DIY band now, they say no to a record deal. A love interest is introduced, he meets Adrienne after the show. - They keep touring (a quick montage of other club shows, it ends with them playing 2000 LYA so the audience is reminded that there is a love interest). It’s estabilished that GD is now freakishly popular for a DIY band, but we see they still live in a dingy flat/eat from a dumpster. BJA realizes the band has much larger potential and grows restless with the scene. He advances the plot by signing with Warner. He marries Adrienne because this movie has a romantic storyline. We see the other guys have girlfriends too but this is a Hollywood production that wants to be easy to follow. - Dookie is out, another montage (this time they’re playing arenas, sometimes naked) we see them doing lines backstage, Woodstock 94 - we see that there’s backlash against them. BJA receives criticism from his mother. The audience sees that deep down he feels hurt and misunderstood, but there’s more touring, more partying, a baby, more touring, more partying, inevitably a fight with the wife. 3rd act - Fight with the wife, dissatisfaction, acoustic guitar, we are in the 00s. The band isn’t doing as well as it used to be. BJA gets dramatic about not wanting to do Warped tour and then agrees to doing it under the weight of arguments about his own lack of success. The audience sees he’s dying inside. - A studio scene, Cigarettes and Valentines sessions. It’s not going well, the band tells BJA his songs suck, he walks out, gives up, spirals… this era is dated through historical events BJA sees happening & is upset with - first 9/11, later the start of the Iraq war… we see he picks up the guitar again when he comes back home from a shitty night out. The sun is coming out and he’s playing a song the audience recognizes. (It should be Are We The Waiting except this is a wide appeal Hollywood production so the script gets changed by the studio to something more instantly recognizable but less narratively fitting… the AI riff will do). - The band makes up, they decide to give it one more try and do their best. Another montage, we see them recording and getting a general makeover. There’s a sense of hope about it all. Finally, the album is done, touching moment, we see they’ve adopted a one for all all for one mentality. - The big finale, everyone knows AI was a success. We watch the band set off on tour in a reasonably sized venue but there they are with their epic, larger than life show… they’re like this was ok, then it turns out it was more than ok - the final scene is heavily copying BIAB, they’re playing Jesus Of Suburbia in front of a huge audience. Fade to black… subtitles tell us Green Day became one of the biggest bands in the world and went on to play music for decades after this. Also they all lived happily ever after. Since there was a romantic storyline it has to be mentioned that BJA is still with Adrienne and by the time the movie comes out they have a bunch of grandkids.1 point

I wouldn’t want VR instead of live but I can see an argument for it, they could reach places they wouldn’t or couldn’t visit and folk living more remotely could see more shows easier. I went to see 21st Century Breakdown in the cinema and it was great, not in a cinema would be better where you could dance and jump about easier. It wasn’t the same as seeing them live but I think it was quite successful. Quite of lot of plays and more traditional theatre productions are live streamed or shown in cinemas and I’m not sure why more music isn’t.1 point
