the_real_emma_thompson Anyone that knows me well will know I love meeting new people/random strangers and connecting and stuff so I was delighted when the American bloke behind me and Livs at Ronnie Scott’s the other night tried to photobomb our selfie and made us laugh. We had a nice couple of minutes bantering with him and his missus. I commented that they were a long way from home and were they on holiday? (Kinda) and had they been to Ronnie Scott’s before? (Yeah). I took a quick selfie of the four of us and quipped “for your grandchildren” 😁 Before they could respond Macy Gray swept onto stage and delivered an absolutely blistering performance. The woman is amazing - and v v funny btw. By the end of the night she had everyone on their feet. We danced with our new pals and their friends - another couple on the next aisle. It was so fun and easy and should happen more often but rarely does. Just as I was thinking we should swap numbers and stay in touch Macy beckoned for him to join her on stage… they hugged. 🤔 She handed him a guitar and he proceeded to bang out a beautiful acoustic of something vaguely familiar… https://www.instagram.com/p/CfPXs83oKJ7/6 points

My thoughts from last night in Huddersfield: Amyl and the Sniffers weren’t for us at all to be honest (sorry). We thought they were loud for a support act and we couldn’t really understand the lyrics. After about 10 minutes we went downstairs to get food. Weezer were much better than what we expected, although I only knew just over half the songs they played. I really enjoyed FOB although the others preferred Weezer. Patrick’s vocals are incredible but I don’t see why that house was moved onto the stage for two songs. And then GD came on and we were blown away by them. I was sceptical about as many covers but it all flowed nicely as one coherent setlist. Billie paused the band twice, once during Longview (he messed up the lyrics when they restarted) and before Rock and Roll All Night (he did a mini-cover of Ziggy Stardust while he was waiting to restart). I’ve never been to a concert that has been paused more than once, but it was nice to see that Billie was watching out for the fans. During one song (I can’t remember which), he snarled about the abortion ruling in America (“B*stards”, “pr*cks” and “f*ck America” were the profanities he used). I thought they could have done better with the camera shots for the big screens. There were times that the picture on the screens didn’t seem in time with the music, the screen near us went blank down the middle once or twice, and during Minority the camera remained on Billie instead of panning to the band member he was introducing. The stage was slightly to our right, we could see the front and far side of the stage but not the back where the drummers were because the stage covering was blocking our view. However, we could clearly see the bands coming and going from the stage for the best part of 20 seconds as they walked around the stand behind the stage and up the stairs and onto the stage. Weezer even sat in the stand behind the stage after their set to have something to eat. Overall, it was definitely worth waiting all this time for. I would go to see FOB and Weezer again. Hopefully it won’t be another 5 years before I see GD again.5 points

I was thinking that too. He has plenty of room there for a nice big tat of Lenny’s face 😄4 points

London. Don't think I've posted any of this guys photos yet. His name is Burak Cingi and I found them here https://www.instagram.com/p/CfPnXLTD6ia/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= These aren't great photos but looks like Billie had on a Hawaii style shirt tonight in Huddersfield https://www.instagram.com/p/CfP7WajIGyj/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= Not really finding any decent photos from the Huddersfield show. Just a lot of people drinking beer4 points

Don't think Green Day’s Post is here yet Some were repeats from Billie and Jason's posts so not duplicating Green Day also posted this https://www.instagram.com/reel/CfPPkqUqc-R/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= From Tre's Instagram story4 points

Yeah the film crew were there for Green Day. The show was AMAZING and Billie took my UK 🇬🇧 flag on stage during minority, wore it around his neck while he played the harmonica, hung it on a mic stand next to Kevin, and than used it again during King for a Day before throwing it back to me ❤️ It was extra special because we wrote our names, Green Day Inc and the name of our friends all over it, so it was kinda like they were at the show with us, including a friend who passed away a few years ago. If anyone has photos/videos of those moments, please send them my way. Thanks!4 points

I've never been a huge Bowie person, but there's nothing like an inspired cover by Green Day to get me into an artist. It's clear in every line that those songs mean so much to Billie. Keep the deep stuff coming, man!3 points

And shows that he still has room to work with on his left arm.3 points

I love these classic rock covers, but if they can rehearse All The Young Dudes, they can rehearse an extra Green Day deep track and play it too.2 points

John Kiffmeyer and his sister are selling their parents’ house in Richmond, CA. The house is said to be where Green Day first played together and where Tre auditioned. I never heard about this house. https://www.sacbee.com/news/business/real-estate-news/article262642667.html2 points

Interestingly, Jenna Fischer was at this show. She said on her podcast that Billie and her husband Lee were working on another project together. Could this be it? Is he directing a GD doc?2 points

Very cool! At one point a guy came to film a panning shot of the queue with everyone "going crazy" and he said it would be for a "Green Day film" and mentioned something about interviewing people. Wasn't sure if that actually means a film or not but sounds interesting. Btw I can't believe I was ever at all less excited for the Hella Mega Tour than other GD shows. 10/10 fucking amazing. Weezer and Fallout Boy were a ton of fun. And "greatest hits" setlist doesn't matter at all when they're putting on such an incredible show and knocking every song out the park one after the other, and keeping all the people who were mostly there for FOB or just to see three big bands just as into it making for a great atmosphere in the crowd. It works perfectly. And they threw in some extra surprises I hadn't seen before as well (Kiss cover, total out of the blue surprise "All the Young Dudes" cover right at the end after Good Riddance, and a cool drum solo thing from Tre). And King for a Day/Shout as the cherry on top 🥰2 points

I don’t blame him. Just tonight I advised my kids who will both be looking for jobs in the next 1-3 years to move to Canada and I’ll follow them. They’re researching residency permits. I’m fucking serious. We’re done.1 point

Billie Joe Armstrong Tells Crowd He’s ‘Renouncing’ US Citizenship "Fuck America," Armstrong said his during band’s Hella Mega tour headlining set in London. "I'm fucking renouncing my citizenship. I'm fucking coming here." "There's just too much fucking stupid in the world to go back to that miserable fucking excuse for a country," the rocker continued. "Oh, I'm not kidding. You're going to get a lot of me [in the U.K] in the coming days." https://ultimateclassicrock.com/billie-joe-armstrong-green-day-citizenship/1 point

This is such a great story, and what it treat it must have been for Billie and Adie to be able to have a normal chat with people in a club without being recognized. Just a normal interaction that you have out, I bet that doesn’t happen often with strangers. I think they enjoyed it so much they played along — Are you here on holiday? “…Kinda…” 😄 If their cover hadn’t been blown by being invited on stage they probably would never have told them.1 point

Didn't Tré joined the band on John's back? Why and how he would audition in John's house?1 point

Well that's a whole lot of baseless claims right there. Unless you know him personally, you have no business making those. We don't know his life and it isn't any of our business to make assumptions. I'm just going to leave it at that and move on from this. Time to throw away my box cutter then I guess.1 point

His carefully crafted image is such a farce. I hope there’s more videos and fun stuff like this in the future. Wrong idea? He is kind of unhappy and restless. Maybe not in this instance but he does cheat on his wife. It’s not really something anyone talks about. If anyone comes forward they get in trouble. Got married too young probably without a prenuptial agreement. Hopefully one day he’ll realize the kids are grown and the price of alimony is worth the price of freedom and he does not need to keep up appearances (the carefully crafted image).1 point

He said it on stage during HAR (there’s a video in the show thread). It’s consistent with what he told Kerrang that he might be moving there for at least part time.1 point

Everything seems to point to a GD movie rather than a HM one.1 point

I have no idea who those people are, but it seems they are having a fun night. Who wouldn't want to rub up against Billie if they met him? Must be some people he knows and they're going out for a party or something. I think it seems harmless and was probably just taken down under the assumption people would get the wrong idea.1 point

For all of their studio albums with the exception of FOAMF, they would play at least a few songs from their latest album during the following tour. The only reason FOAMF didn't was because Hella Mega was a greatest hits tour and the album singles didn't do well enough to justify them being on a greatest hits tour During RevRad tour, there were 6 songs from the album that were played regular, and 3 other songs that were played a couple of times During 99 Revolutions tour, each of the trilogy albums had at least 2-4 tracks that were played regularly and many other trilogy songs got played either during that tour, during the time of the album releases or before the trilogy was even announced So there's not really any reason to assume that 1972 isn't going to get the same treatment as RevRad or the trilogy. Some songs getting played regularly during the following tour but then mostly getting ignored after that1 point

Yeah it’s been rumoured alright .. I thought it was over the weekend though. If so, what time and is it likely to be televised ? https://www.somersetlive.co.uk/whats-on/whats-on-news/glastonbury-secret-set-green-day-7174678.amp1 point

I'd be fine with dropping JOS and replacing it with Forever Now (or Homecoming, or any other of their long songs). Never been a fan of the drawn out moment. HAR and KFAD can never leave! No matter how many times I see them, they're my favorite moments. Agree with Jen, drop the covers. Plenty of great GD songs they could play instead of Knowledge and R&RAN. And of course, drop KYE.1 point

Bring back Forever Now, that was beyond epic live. Even JOS paled in comparison1 point

Replace Good Riddance with Brutal Love like they did on the trilogy tour! (At least that was the case for Chicago)1 point

I just wish I went to more shows on this tour. Have only been to one this round but I just can’t get over how fun it was!1 point

Ever since the show I saw I’ve been super happy they still got it and also obsessed with whatever routine Billie has to keep in shape… I need to do whatever he does.1 point
