Definitely the bass, Mike has said in interviews that he has a bass he uses for recordings called "the weapon". I think he said it in an interview with bass player magazine during the trilogy era. I think the trilogy actually has some of his best bass tones so I was excited to see his post 🙂14 points

I think it's more likely that they refer to the bass itself as "The weapon", but it could well be the name of a song too10 points

Not to mention Billie’s clip of him at the console literally producing. He pretty much confirmed it for us.9 points

If Billie wants to write political songs, I believe that is perfectly fine. No songwriter should limit themselves just because some fans have a weird idea about the political not being personal or satisfying to write about. If he doesn't want to write overtly political songs, that is also fine.9 points

I doubt Tre is that kind of parent. He probably encourages Mickey to touch everything8 points

Rob Cavallo is the guy in the photo 100% That doesnt mean he’s definitely producing it but I’d hedge my bets that he is. That’s his job. You don’t fly out to London to come and hang out, with the band who’s records you’ve produced most of.7 points

Finally my teeny bopper side and my punk rock sides will meet! I'm not sure why these teasers aren't getting me excited. This sounds great. Sounds like classic Green Day, but I guess I won't be thrilled until we get a full new single. Honestly, for the other teasers I didn't even realize new music was playing in the background. It was sounded like other GD songs!6 points

There's a Bill Schneider comment under the last Mike Dirnt's post. The Weapon, possible new song titile? Also Mike used the hashtag #Weapon 🤔6 points

Wow, Mike. That's in pretty poor taste. Both of them acted like assholes and there are no sides to take. This shouldn't even be as talked about as it is. There are more important things at hand.6 points

I think she means no political songs. At least not overtly political. I think at this point Green Day is making the best music they can for two groups...themselves and their fans. There really is no pleasing critics or casual listeners no matter what they do, so screw it. I don't think they care about having hits or awards anymore, and they shouldn't. And by hits I mean on alternative radio and streaming because that's the best they can hope for in that area. So I hope they're having a blast and just putting out what they want to put out and with no trying to be something they're not, and with no certain message or agenda. Edit: And without it being retro power pop.6 points

After Hella Mega $59 for a full show sounds like a bargain5 points

Rob managed to get them to record Dookie so I think he’s pretty skilled 😂😂5 points

Someone on reddit said its a full show from 8-10pm5 points

The best green day songs from the last decade have been when BJA writes personal songs about experiences and people in my opinion. I don't mind him making political songs if he actually has something to say and it isn't just superficial jargan that sounds good lyrically but dissolves as soon as you look at it with a critical eye. I'd rather have him have an album on writing about being a aging rock star personally5 points

Green Day will be headlining the 2022 F1 U.S. Grand Prix at Circuit of The Americas on October 21! Get your #USGP tickets TheCircuit.com/F14 points

Wow I'm actually going do this because it turns out I was planning to be in Austin anyway that weekend to visit my daughter (who is also my two time Green Day concert going buddy!). It's destiny. I hope it's easy to buy tickets.4 points

I honestly don’t care what it’s gonna be, I’m just really happy and grateful that they choose to participate4 points

Rob’s got his hands full with Tre at the controls already. Now there’s another, miniature one to rein in 😂4 points

I wonder how many times Tré had to tell him don’t touch the controls 😆4 points

it would be really nice if they are capable of coming back (again) with a big boom, maybe not like AI in 2004, but more like a still present and rocking GD in 2022 (or 2023, depending on when 1972 will be released)4 points
-
If Quatro is to be taken as representative of what their creative process was like for the trilogy, they haven't tried anything else other than patting each other on the back... that doesn't tend to be the way ideas get improved. It could be that they've reflected on it (and it could be that they didn't).4 points

I think people should calm down with the whole "This is gonna sound like Dookie/American Idiot/Nimrod/Insomniac" etc. Every time a new single comes along, there are always people saying "This sounds like 90's Green Day" and then the rest of the album comes out and everyone's like "We couldn't have been more wrong". We've literally only heard seconds of the new album and we've not even heard any vocals yet. Yes I know. It looks like Cavallo is back producing. That doesn't mean it's gonna be an Idiotesque album.4 points

Apparently yesterday Tré met a fan outside RAK Studios and gifted him with drumsticks I wonder if they talked about 1972. Who knows ... https://www.instagram.com/p/CbqG0Q9AWxR3 points

It's nice to see everyone has the same opinion on Poprocks and Coke. I've always really liked that song. Very much shows that sweet and sensitive side of Billie's songwriting. As for the Grammies, that's so sad! I can't imagine what Foo Fighters are going through right now. That would have been a strange set of acts for them to play alongside anyway, even though they would have put on a terrific performance. BTS definitely doesn't belong there. They are way out of their league. I'm sure the only reason they were nominated is to get the Grammies more views because their fanbase will obsessively stream it.3 points

The war is a part of personal experience for millions of people and the other issues you’ve mentioned are as well, but none of those things make me excited as good bits of entertainment (especially coming from people who aren't affected by any of it. I'm saying that in a gatekeepy way, I just think experience makes for better songs).2 points

Are they recording in abby road? What if this their last album and they are trying to a Beatles esq send off? Speculation2 points
-
It says they will have that info at a later date. I assume they will perform, I hope so, although it could be just an appearance and appeal to please donate. Also hope it’s not just a clip of a previous performance.2 points

The Trilogy was great, just criminally underrated especially since Billie associated it with bad times, i.e, the iHeart incident and rehab2 points
