I have only barely been keeping up with this thread but I knew enough to know ye were discussing the back of someones head a few days ago. Billie is either reading here himself or someone is informing him of what is being said here. That recent story is no coincidence.

Kind of odd choices to pick as the worst songs. Cause I think they're all considered to be some of the better trilogy tracks. The demo of 99 Revolutions is far superior to the version on Tré. Stay the Night and Let Yourself Go are easily considered to be in the top 10 trilogy songs. Let Yourself Go especially, has an energy that isn't seen throughout the rest of the trilogy. If your only issue is the repetitive choruses, there's a bunch of other older GD songs that you should have the same issue with like Why Do You Want Him, 86, Haushinka, Are We The Waiting, Platypus. Repetition isn't necessarily a bad thing

This seems very unlike anything I’d expect from current Green Day, that said, it’s hard to make any guesses from a few seconds of music.

Basically, the audio-visual evidence that Rob Cavallo is somehow involved in this project is slowly but surely piling up!

Definitely, although as others have pointed out, I'm interested to see what the vocals will sound like. Also, I could be wrong, but going by the teasers I still think this project will cover several different styles of "classic Green Day". I think there'll be some stuff more reminiscent of 90s Green Day, some stuff that sounds like AI or 21CB and some stuff more similar to the trilogy. It really could be an attempt to look back at the band's long career, the good, the bad and the ugly. Just speculation though.

They should record in Europe more often, the timezone makes the stalking much easier 🙃

There's two things to the last teasers: 1) Billie is either a massive troll, or lending some credence to the Rob Cavallo theory. 2) The video is from RAK studio 3 NOT Abbey Road, whatever that could mean (or not mean). Love the song though, even gives me slight Nimrod (or pre AI Green Day) vibes. So pumped!! Also who's voice is that in the background? Could it be Cavallo's?

The Trilogy was the most exciting process creatively for the band and from a fan perspective imo. It felt like it had all the right elements (unfortunately something somewhere went wrong but that’s a whole other story). This is starting to really feel like that. The great parts of the Trilogy and the creative process and teases. Love the sound clips and video and trolling and the BTS deleted posts and reposts etc. and the music sounding amazing! Can’t wait for some vocals and lyrics. I am very optimistic and excited right now.

Yeah just getting that super fast, heavy distortion, power chord vibe of their hardest 90’s stuff. Could be my favorite album on the way. Add Rob Cavallo and this album can’t come soon enough 💚

I've learnt not to believe anything anymore

Ik people were saying before that they were getting kinda irritated by how few and far between the updates have been but I'm liking this teasing/promotional period far more than what we got for FOAMF. For FOAMF they only started teasing quite close to the release of the first single if I remember correctly and all of the teases we got had me worried about the album. The tour with Weezer/FOB, the trash album cover, the singles, the weird descriptions for the singles. It felt strange and the singles to this day still stand out as being the weakest parts of the album for the most part. We've only gotten some teasers so far and the band are still recording but so far, I'm already more excited for this release

So you are saying the album is dropping on Christmas Day???

Don’t get your hopes up. There won’t be an announcement of anything beyond these types of teasers as long as they are literally still recording it. They would have no idea about release dates right now To me too but I’m happy if as it appears it’s not just an EP. Glad to be wrong on that one

The story with Rob's head and video which he took down very quickly seems like a definite nod to GDC rather than just to his general IG followers. But who knows.

The back of my head is the new Green Day album cover! Way more obscure than Weezer's Hurley, way more hip. Haha My face is going to be on the back....this is what my entire life starting in 19-19-1985 has been leading up to.

Its sound freakin great, but am not surprised; GD always puts out a bamboo banger following those network guys' albums.

Billie has been in here for years, how so many of you have never realised is crazy. The clip sounds more powerpop, the guitar tones aren’t as full as they usually are. The sound he wanted to go for with the trilogy but didn’t really achieve. However it ends up sounding, he’s got the most loyal fans on the planet here ready to drink it in and enjoy it. The back of the head photo is definitely a nod to this forum and this topic. And it’s definitely Cavallo.

I accept the tradeoff though. If it’s an experience like the Trilogy where you were let in on the whole process over months versus FOAM where we got literally nothing until they announced a single and album release date I’ll take this.

I think people were getting irritated, including me, because we thought it was an ep and it was going to be released “soon”. People were probably thinking my god how long are they going to drag this promotion out just for six songs? Now we know we are getting more than that. You’re right about the promotion. Everything leading up to foam was so boring and this is a lot more exciting.

I was never really excited for foam but this 1972 business has me feeling like a kid waiting for Christmas morning to get here.

OK full disclosure this account was me, found myself making this tune and it kind of reminded me of the teasers so wanted to see how you guys would react haha. Billie has upstaged me with something so much better though Oh my god that new *real* teaser sounds insane. The production is giving me real American Idiot vibes, guitar tone especially. Super hyped

Could it be that it's because some of them have already been uploaded to apps like Instagram? I'm not that knowledgeable about that kind of thing but I know the quality does goes down on Instagram. I'm just speculating here but I think today must be a difficult day for Billie. He felt deeply Amy Winehouse's death, he wrote "rock and roll tragedy, next one could be me" so I think Billie must be facing his own mortality today since one of the biggest drummers in the world right now died and he was born on the same day as him! Especially when Green Day is working on a project called 1972...
