  1. I'll say one thing for the vibe of this project so far at least it feels more like them than FOAM ever did

  2. Green Day hanging out with Rob Cavallo! This was at Billie's 50th birthday party, so probably just friends. But wouldn't it be amazing if he's producing 1972.. https://www.instagram.com/tv/CaTJXJ9gGSf/?utm_medium=copy_link

  3. This your first time listening to this band bro? šŸ˜†

  4. Y’know now that I think about it, the last record Cavallo had a heavy hand in was American Idiot. He was the named producer on Ā”Uno! Ā”Dos! Ā”TrĆ©! but from what I understand his involvement was pretty light and more analogous to his role in the Warning sessions. I’d love to see him return, I think the timing is right.

  5. Billie always manages to take a simple musical idea and give it an interesting spin. His songs are rarely cookie cutter in structure I have faith in his abilities.

  6. They did interviews for FOAM, but the band looked kind of dead inside, which was a bummer.

  7. Yes, they write music for me. That's how I take it. And for hundreds of thousands of other fans as well. Let our opinions be mixed. Literally, under any criticism you can write 'hey they're having fun, they're not playing for you' and blah

  8. I think it's relevant to put this here. Lee Bothwick who worked at Jingletown Studios and who some of you will remember from seeing them in the background at Green Day/The Longshot shows and who has been with the band officially since 2011 is leaving the fold. The post has some photos of Jingletown Studios whilst it was still owned by Green Day (wasn't sure whether to post in here or random news) Mods - if you think this post isn't OK apologies and please feel free to remove it

  9. All I know is Billie better get his Fiji Waters and Diet Cokes by 2:00pm or there'll be hell to pay

  11. Tag them on social media, but don't spam them, and hope for the best they see it. Also "tracking people down" is creepy so hard no there.

  12. I hope it's way before so we can see lots of interviews and promo.

  13. More interesting to you? Well bad news they don't write music for you lol they're just having fun

  14. While I'm all about the Trilogy, and love thinking about which albums the next one will harken back too, I think we are wrong. As always, lol. Every album sounds different than previous ones and we really don't have much to analyze. These instrumentals tell us nothing. They could be intros, solos, outros and in no way convey the actual song. From what we hear though, I hope Billie does more of a raw, screamie vocal style. I know that's been on our wishlist for a while, but it would fit with these riffs. Happy guitars and F-ed up lyrics. That's why we came. The rest of the music could be circus clowns blowing old rusted tubas and it wouldn't matter. Also, the title isn't a year.........

  15. Looks like they got special sparkly guitars made with the "72" plate on the back. Last time they did something similar they had RevRad edition guitars made as Christmas gifts for the band and crew after that tour. I wonder if this years gifts were 72 edition guitars. If that's so then we're definitely talking a major size project and not just six songs. Why get guitars made for an EP?

  20. Sounds so simple 😓 4/4, just descending melody, just bends A#-G-D, intervals: minor third and fourth... and here we go again, total cliché There's no simpler stuff in rock, it's so overused. Why they don't even try to embellish the sequence a little bit. They could use some shoegaze chords just once, would be more interesting to me. A teaser is supposed to tease, but actually, it doesn't. Fine example: Cherub Rock by Smashing Pumpkins, sounds simple, powerful, and mysterious at the same time. Green Day could do it with punk.

  22. I hope that whenever the thing is released they then follow up the European tour with a proper US arena tour for the new material.

  23. I’ll stand by that he was going through a bit of a mid life crisis, I don’t think he was really having a great time during this period but it really seems like the pandemic reset everything g

  24. Here's a cool summary about the latest 1972's news https://greenday.fm/news/fourth-1972-teaser-video-released/

  25. I kinda like them not having lyrics, makes it more of a real tease and ambiguous

  26. I hope the teases have lyrics/vocals at some point. There haven’t been any yet?

  27. Maybe I’m going mad (I think it’s pretty clear that Green Day are not the kind of band to do elaborate teasers), BUT why couldn’t they be hinting at a July release date with 1972 (besides the year reference)? True, it seems rather unlikely to set a release date this early and there’s a million other reasons as to why it wouldn’t make much sense. That said, given 1) how drawn out many release schedules these days are and 2) that a July release date would steer clear of (most of) the Hella Mega tour dates, I feel like it’s at least a possibility. But then if I’m quite honest, I don’t really know what to believe anymore, so an announcement of any kind would be cool at this point.

  31. Had a dream that Billie was walking around some type of reception, randomly taking pictures. A guy asked to see a pic and Billie showed him a picture of a squirrel, to which the guy said, "That looks like a suburban Jesus" to which Billie smiled and replied, "That's kind of one of my themes."

  32. Mostly because of covid I think. There will be more opportunity for doing promo now. I heard part of one song clip/snippet but I think I won't listen to any more. I don't want to "spoil" the songs by already partly knowing them before I hear them in full. Very excited about all this new stuff though!

  33. The couple who met in a bank got married and they posted about it occasionally posted on here years ago. They even showed pictures of the wedding The guy who comes in early when singing American Idiot use to be a mod on here but sadly isn’t as active anymore. Still see him post on social media though, his name is Tony and he’s an absolute sweetheart

  36. I kinda agree that the teaser sounds as if a neural network spat out a Green Day song, so it doesn’t get me particularly excited. Doesn’t mean that it can’t be a great song though. I’m really glad new music is coming!

  37. Let's hold out hope there will be at least one wacky sonic experimentation. Most of the album will probably be fast songs about being sad and the world being bad, but one song with shoegaze passages put through a buzz saw cannon and layered with a trippy Billie Joe croon. Yeah! oh!

  38. Looks like all of his posts on Instagram since he started post to again (except the ones about his car) are pictures from years and years ago.

  39. These little snippets ARE the singles. We've now heard the entire album, and I love it! It's short. So short that I can listen to it multiple times while checking the mailbox. Perfect for today's fast-paced world that has no time for Billie's lyrical mumbo jumbo.

  41. This sounds just like the trilogy and it’s being teased in the same way as the trilogy was exactly 10 years ago. It’s groundhog day.

  44. maybe we should read the 1972 as a cryptic hint and read it in letters (1972 = AIGB) AIGB does this make sense somehow? AmericanIdiot(G?)(B?) šŸ˜…
