Yeah I see wht you’re saying. but maybe that’s more on us who are desperate for a teaser or some news, but for them it might be the normal pacs of things. All I’m saying is that we for sure know something is coming very soon. So why turn negative when news dont come our way when we think its supposed to come (birthday theory, 1972 coincidential dates). Lets just wait for it. A week ago people were saying the band is breaking up for god sakes! Don’t get me wrong, I am also super excited and checking every day for clues and news, but we don’t have to turn negative and think “ah they just don’t give a fuck” just because we really don’t know what their plan is. That should be the fun part!11 points

Blimey, we don’t know much about what’s coming other than the #1972 but that might just be pointing out they are all 50 this year. We have a non-corroborated report (not doubting, just pointing out) that they recorded 6 songs but c’mon folks, life is going on, we are getting through a horrible time and shit happens to everyone. I think people need to chill and wait and see what this hugely creative band come up with next. Maybe even be glad we can be pretty sure there is a next. Sounds like there’s a little self pity going on here lately!9 points

I'm not sure where the first ones came from. Something I saved at some point a while ago. Could be from a live or an interview. I wonder if anyone else remembers. The others are from one of the side project shows at the Golden Bull Here's a few more, first three from NME (FOAM era) From MMOTR video8 points

Sure, but there’s also no denying that they (or whoever is doing promotion) are clearly abysmal at the hype game. I mean, here I was (and by the looks of things so were many others), all revved up and raring to go, but the excitement has slowly but surely fizzled out. They don’t have to release anything tomorrow, nor indeed do they owe us anything at all, I entirely agree, but you can choose to create excitement and try to maintain it, or you can slowly let it die out. Their current promotional strategy seems to be doing a lot more of the latter, imho.6 points

Also isn’t their first show in Moscow? With what could be about to happen in the Ukraine next week I wonder if it would still be considered safe or advisable to perform there5 points

I think we need to relax Billie and the band have said they want to do this for life and be on of the best bands ever. They are still young and I truly feel are capable and will have huge songs/EPS/Albums coming out during the years and might make rock mainstream. I am very hopeful4 points

They were playing Bang Bang pretty regularly during the 2019 promo shows I had really hoped it would stay in the Hella Mega set but no. It was such a set highlight.4 points

The Hella Mega tour was boring for a lot of reasons -- every show was exactly the same, only the greatest hits were played with nothing from their latest album... covid meant that the bands couldn't hang out and interact together and share that fun with us on social media... they couldn't go out in the cities they visited and interact with fans... Billie wasn't even on social media and other than occasional posts from Tre there was nothing like the backstage, livestream and tour content being shared on the RevRad tour (or the trilogy tour -- remember the Jeff Matika show?) except for highly produced and content controlled brief musical montages of mostly live material shown over non-live recorded audio via Oakland Coffee... the shows were so expensive and due to covid it was hard to attend more than one show so fans also had less opportunity to travel, interact and make memories... due to covid it was hard to bring fans onstage even though they tried just once per show Billie had to keep his distance, and of course... No KFAD! 😄 It may have earned them 67 million and I enjoyed seeing it once, but for so many reasons it was a lame ass tour for those following from home compared to their previous tours.4 points

Wow people are so impatient! GD doesnt owe us anything, not teasers, EP, LPs. This band and it’s other forms of it (longshot, BJA, Network) has given us so much in the past couple of years, I can’t even think of another band that has put out so many music recently besides Weezer I guess? They’re clearly having fun, something is obviously coming out soon, they are rehearsing for the show this weekend. Just chill out and enjoy the ride.4 points

germany / german shows wont take place most likely, our politicians are currently discussing what the next steps could be, and it looks like they plan to allow only 50% capacity (or max. 10.000) people for outdoor shows -.-3 points

He can’t be described as lucky considering what he has been and is still going through, but thankfully the quick reactions of those around him means he is still here to tell the tale.3 points

Honestly, it's all gravy to me after living through the great dry spell between AI and 21CB and almost losing them entirely after the trilogy. I mean, the amount of material they've put out within the last few years is astounding, I couldn't be happier as a Green Day fan these days.3 points

I love what Billie’s wearing 😱😍 The Kiss mask is back so I assume they’ll be doing the cover again3 points

Damn I wish we could see this show tonight. He’s on such a high after getting his car back it’s probably gonna be great 😄2 points

I was thinking disco (especially with that shirt). I expected him to go full on Travolta.2 points

Anything with the super bowl is going to be expensive. It’s the nature of the event. Tickets for the actual game are ridiculously priced, 30 second ad spots are $6.5 million and parking cost is going to be just as horrible.2 points

I agree there should be a stricter system and this seems to work as well as any even knowing no system is perfect. It tightens the inducted list up in most of the right ways. Happy to see even under tighter rules, Elvis Costello and Green Day still make it 😊 and buh-bye Foo Fighters 😜2 points

It will be difficult for them to tour with different rules regarding capacity from country to country. The first dates of the European tour is at the end of May. This will be intresting to follow.2 points
-
If we’re lucky, maybe they’ll make an announcement to the crowd at today’s Super Bowl show and maybe play a new song from 1972. Who knows? Just too bad it won’t be televised!2 points

What a incredible story. So many people to thank for Jake being alive and recovering so well. If any one thing had gone differently he might not be,2 points

I think something really exciting is gonna happen. But also let's face it, they're not reaching for the brass ring anymore because they don't need to. They've achieved everything they've ever set out to achieve. And the music business has changed to the point where music itself no longer has value. That one thing has had the most profound impact on nearly every band. For those young enough to navigate this change, the way to survive is near constant touring. For older bands, they just can no longer keep that kind of pace up. BUt they have a back catalog and can survive on licensing and merch (and the occasional mega tour). That is the reality we live in today. Now having said all that, I still think Green Day want to write, record and release new music as much as they can, even at their own expense, and they still will.2 points
-
Hopefully they band would know those select few would really get a kick out of the clues. Or maybe they don’t care anymore. They used to care. The Trilogy era and releases and playing new music to small crowds seems to be the last time Green Day was really invested into the projects and seemed really excited. The Longshot was pretty exciting too. I don’t know what has been going on with Green Day. I thought 1972 was the new exciting era and getting everyone hyped up and excited. It’s just a let down so far. Hella Mega for life. Only stuff that makes money and sells merch. Re-issues and dead end teases. I think it’s sad that a stolen car gets more hype than Green Day. It sucks that happened but it got more attention and tweets than the band or new music. It’s like a metaphor of holding on to old stuff and getting too comfortable. I miss the Trilogy era excitement. This lacklustre promotion of 1972 coupled with the pandemic and general shittiness and the disappointment of Hella Mega being a greatest hits tour was a letdown over the past couple of years. I also wish they hadn’t toured at all. It was like a contradiction of wanting to stay safe yet exposure to COVID. I’m usually a very positive and optimistic fan. This is pretty bad if even I am losing hope. I really hope I am so wrong. I could be so wrong. This has happened before and then something really exciting happens.2 points
-
I still think those are a coincidence. we already know the title, so why try and sprinkle in the teasers on days that coincide with that? The whole promotion process for past albums never included clever or subtle clues to the album. Also, I’m not sure who they would even be trying to be clever for. Green Day is not nearly as popular as they once were, we all know that, so these subtle clues would really only be picked up by a select few anyway. I don’t really see the purpose of that.2 points
-
I was so excited for this project. But now it's just boring and I don't give a shit. Everytime I had a notification from a BJ post on Instagram I was so quick to view it. And now I just know it doesn't have anything to do with 1972. Their ways of promoting #1972 is shit as fuck.2 points
-
The teasers are sporadic and too far and few in between. It’s not fun anymore. It’s feeling drawn out and sad for some people who really love this band. I’m almost starting to care less and less about the 1972 project and even the band in general. Feels like they’re becoming a legacy band playing greatest hits tours when they are still young and could be doing amazing exciting things. Feels like they’re playing it safe. They’re boring dads. I was in denial but now I’ll admit it. They’re boring and finally feeling comfortable. I thought maybe it was a phase but maybe not. I guess time will tell but it looks like it’s telling they don’t give a shit about new music or doing anything exciting anymore. I’m starting to feel like 1972 is not a big deal. There was more hype about the stolen car. The stolen car even brought back the elusive Billie Joe Armstrong tweet. Buy coffee and find a stolen car. Spend money and do our bidding. I know nobody has to but it seems that is all that’s wanted from fans these days. No fun anymore.2 points

I'm fairly certain that it is *just* an EP, but I have no idea why that is anything but massively exciting!2 points

Me too. I miss promo and media appearance period. There's always great photos that come from those and also the potential for interviews.2 points

Feel ya. The trilogy had so much fun, so much hype and just them being crazy, young and reckless. Revrad was solid but the foam album just killed Green Day for me along with the boring ass hella mega tour.1 point

Much more likely someone with a marketing degree did it than Green Day, but you never know!1 point

I was facetiming with my mom the other day and it took FOREVER for me to figure out how to end the call! They keep moving the button that makes people go away!1 point

GD could override if they really wanted to, but for a bigger release they likely defer dates and stuff1 point

Yet another one (the first one) I haven't seen there! Then again I really didn't pay attention to the Father of All era Now I have seen those before. Nice to see them again though.1 point

This is how I feel about the album! It's just a fun rock n roll album and they play around with some stuff they haven't done before. I like it! It's not trying to be this epic thing like American Idiot. And it sounds like they had fun with it.1 point

Listening to this album front to back for the first time since probably 2020- and it’s a really decent album! I don’t regret the fact that they released this album at all! It’s a straight up rock and roll album with some cool weird production bits included. Im honestly glad they went this direction instead of releasing another RevRad (still a fan of that album though)1 point
