I hope this means we’re moments away from a big blowout of 1972 news!!!5 points

Wow, poor Billie. He must really be hurting. That car means so much to him. It's way more than just a car. The Network guitars I don't know if he's as attached to, but they're still a part of his musical history so I'm sure he's feeling that loss too. He's just such a sweet person! It's awful to do something like that to him, and yet he isn't mad at the one who stole it, he just wants it to come back to him. That thief is lucky they stole from probably the nicest person possible. Most others with that kind of valuable might have their heads for that.5 points

Sugar Youth, Take The Money and Crawl, Graffitia and Meet Me on The Roof are pretty good. I like it. No trap beats Happy birthday to the 100% uncut rock album.5 points

I haven't seen Billie's last live video but I hope he gets his car back. ...also he looks so damn adorable in the screencaps 🥰5 points

That's it. They're difficult to explain, but they are digital files that are sold in place of the actual object and the purchaser owns it. Personally, it feels like a scam to me, it also takes an enormous amount of electricity to maintain individual NFTs on servers.4 points

One hope I hang on is the fact that NFTs get a lot of blowback for being bad for the environment. I can't see owners of a socially and environmentally conscious organic coffee company promoting NFTs. The two just don't go together. It would come off as hugely hypocritical. That said, I understand musicians have to diversify these days and that means there's going to be an equal emphasis on merch, other products and music (that last bit being by far the least profitable) but I still want to see more of a separation of Green Day as a band versus Green Day the founders of Oakland Coffee. It makes the music seem like a side gig. I had hoped we were getting a single this friday in which case I had hoped for more of an announcement of new music by now beyond a coffee ad. If there's no single, then we could be further away than we think. They could announce something that is months away if Billie's birthday plays no part in this.3 points

Why do I have a feeling these amazing plans include seeling coffee, NFTs and special edition coffee NFTs for non-coffee drinkers.3 points

I'm not Billie. I'm the Reverend Strychnine Twitch. I just shared my expectation. Excited for the new music...3 points

Seven, and again he’s mentioned multiple numbers of songs in many interviews in 2020. We have no idea where the six he recorded for 1972 came from, they could have been written more recently3 points

I just found the vinyl for BBC Sessions at my local bookstore yesterday! I already have the CD, but this was an opportunity I couldn't pass up. And the best part is there was no shipping cost!3 points

Yeah but rich or poor, losing something of sentimental value is a huge loss3 points

When Billie says this it sounds like Mike is saying "coffee coffee coffee new album" But that could just be my imagination...2 points

It’s not as dumb as it appears, it’s meant as a joke. Instead of I was a teenage alien, werewolf, etc. the typical things that follow that line, he’s just saying he was an ordinary teenager and nothing special. Could he have developed that idea better in the rest of the song? Absolutely. But it starts with a decent idea. That’s the problem I have with most of FOAM. Much of it starts with a good idea and then craps out before reaching the finish line.2 points

That was like a year ago or more so we don’t if they’re the same six songs. There were a string interviews in 2020 where he said he wrote six then three more then some other number, he’s always writing stuff, writing doesn’t get much notice. A lot of that was said prior to the Network album and the three singles dropped since and could have been for that. What he told the fan was that they recorded six songs. Recording is a significant step from writing and that’s why that’s the true origin of the EP speculation.2 points

Yeah the song is good. Teenage Teenagers. Wooden floor made of wood. I was young when I was born.2 points

am I the only one who loves I Was A Teenage Teenager? lol I sure hope they play some of these songs live one day. Sugar Youth cant go to waste like that, MMOTR would be lots of fun live too.2 points

Listening to this album front to back for the first time since probably 2020- and it’s a really decent album! I don’t regret the fact that they released this album at all! It’s a straight up rock and roll album with some cool weird production bits included. Im honestly glad they went this direction instead of releasing another RevRad (still a fan of that album though)2 points

Just an out of the box thought but I wonder if his lawyers told him to take the post down because by promising to pay their bail he was entering into some kind of verbal contract with criminals that could unintentionally be conspiracy (like if insurance fraud was alleged or something). So to avoid getting bound to a verbal agreement he had to take it down.2 points

I really hope it’s not the reason. I get that people don’t want to be mean, but all those memes feel quite inappropriate. He’s obviously quite upset, it’s clearly not a good time for those2 points

I think we need one place to put all this stuff so I’m making a thread for it as it develops. I wonder if it was Otis Costa Mesa that was broken into the report says a commercial facility in Costa Mesa and they stole not only the car, but two guitars and an amp https://people.com/music/green-day-billie-joe-armstrong-turns-1962-chevy-nova-guitars-stolen/?amp=true Billie’s original post: https://www.instagram.com/p/CZm3X4zv5je/?utm_medium=copy_link Here’s his video https://www.instagram.com/tv/CZrGpklIlKL/?utm_medium=copy_link Article from the OC Register: https://www.ocregister.com/2022/02/06/green-days-billie-joe-armstrong-says-classic-chevy-stolen-in-costa-mesa/?utm_email=45BA04B534B255E234D14526D4&g2i_eui=7ENBBYfW0fOrdvveScq5aBkGODvN71Y7&g2i_source=newsletter&lctg=45BA04B534B255E234D14526D4&active=no&utm_source=listrak&utm_medium=email&utm_term=Story+Button&utm_campaign=scng-ocr-breaking-news&utm_content=alert1 point

Nope, it hasn't. Trilogy marked officially the end of an era when it comes to Green Day forever staying and acting younger what they actually were. They became a lot more careful and responsible towards to what they said on interviews and what they did on stage. No more drunk concerts and no more ambitious albums (just compare AI/21st/Trilogy to RR/FOAMF). Billie also started to do a lot more songs about past rather than writing about present or the future. There was a clear growing up stage that The Boys had between Trilogy to Revolution Radio. I didn't like it, but I tried to accept that The Boys are not young anymore. Then of course FOAMF happened. Green Day suddenly once again decided to be young and irresponsible by drinking on stage, releasing an album that doesn't gather the masses, having questionable interviews and overall having this weird feeling that wasn't seen during Revolution Radio Era. Even though I enjoyed FOAMF and its era, looking back, it was really weird. Why on earth did they suddenly decide to do Prince-impressions and do an album that wasn't mostly played during live shows and was clearly fuck you to the fans that loved Revolution Radio? As I said, I enjoyed FOAMF, but I can also clearly see why people dislike it. It was like living Trilogy all over again, but atleast during Trilogy they played all but few songs from those albums. They clearly loved the tracks they did on those albums. That's why I also don't understand why Billie feels like he did shitty songs that people didn't like. Sales don't tell everything and he should know that. I'm so mad that they never played Stab You In The Heart. Anyways, yeah. It's never been the same since.1 point

Dude, your act is getting tiring. I agree that fans getting outraged about Green Day not releasing Dookie 2.0 all the time is not helpful, but the extreme opposite is honestly just as toxic. In this case, you're the one literally bitching about the sound they themselves have chosen to pursue. Very hypocritical imo.1 point
