Weird, must be blocked in some countries due to song copyrights issues. It’s the FOAM production brake down from Butch Walker at the LUNA festival. Will try to download and re-upload that bit somewhere, it’s really a unique and super valuable insight over a Green Day song production process.5 points

I love most cartoon styles, but the anime style she does is the cutest. Her speed and attention to detail in the images and expressions are impressive5 points

With the recent news of many legendary artists selling their catalogs (composition rights) to the labels, this got me wondering. Green Day just got out from under a contract where they didn’t own their masters so I don’t see them doing that just yet. Taylor Swift on the other hand did the opposite. She re-recorded her old songs so that she now owns the new masters as well as the composition rights. Green Day owns the composition rights to everything through FOAM but Warner still owns the recording rights. Going forward it’s likely Green Day own both for new stuff but still not for the old stuff which let’s face it, is the stuff with the most value for licensing. So are Green Day re-recording select songs from Kerplunk and others possibly not for any kind of re-issue, but for future licensing if needed? Like, you may hear a newly recorded version of 2000LYA in a movie that they licensed with complete permission and get 100% of the licensing fee.4 points

Awwww we’re back at the stage where one producer is blamed for everything, from mixing to the band’s artistic choices, fun times 🥰 Just leaving this here as a reminder of what the production process for FOAM looked like (starts at 04:09:50), and of the fact that if you don’t like this record or the mixing you can only blame the band and their choices 🙃:4 points

I've never been the biggest FOAM fan, but it grew on me more and Graffitia has even become one of my all time favorites. I love the production of that song, especially when you listen with headphones. In my dreams, that's the direction they're heading with their new record. So if Butch producing the new album means we'll get more Graffitia-styled songs, then I'm all in.3 points

I really love 21 Guns too. It's not their best song of course, and certainly not Billie's best ballad, but it's still special to me. It made me sad when they stopped playing it live for a long time.3 points

Oh I totally agree that pop has always been a part of their sound. That’s why Dookie and AI were massive pop/rock crossover hits (which is a laudable achievement in my book, nothing to sneeze at). But yes, for me it’s not the what of the production but the how. I just don’t think a lot of the heavier production elements on FOAM added much to the songs and were more distracting than anything else. Honestly I’d be cool with them adding Billie’s ass going across a washboard into a song if they did it really well and did something interesting with it. I’d still argue for Stop Drop and Roll being the better record song for song but I think FOAMs best songs are still better than SDRs worst songs if that makes any sense. There’s value in FOAM but it’s so inconsistent and short that it leaves a lot to be desired. But I’ll totally concede at the end of the day it just comes down to personal taste.3 points

80-90% of the record is produced really well. I don't mind if there are some new elements thrown in, just don't overgloss it to hell, which for 90% of it, they didn't. People don't seem to realize a big part of Green Day's sound has always been pop. But I guess most fans don't really like the elements of pop they used for this record or at least they don't like Green Day using them. I get how the record sounds more generic at first but the songs are still really good for the most part. I would argue that most of the songs are better than anything from the foxboro record. Maybe it's not as lo-fi or whatever, but I think for the most part they finally kinda harnessed that same energy from the tubbies in a newer more exciting way that they didn't really do as well on Dos. But again I get why people aren't too happy about it. It's not really what they do best.3 points

I am so excited for this new album I don’t care I am ready let’s go! Also I love how Tré follows and shares the small independent artist Comeasur731 and then Billie shared Tré’s post and then zoomed in like the pic on his original post the art is based on that was really funny! I hope y’all are following the artist now. They are awesome and it would be great to see the account grow and get more of their great art out there and shared. There really needs to be more of that. Green Day and the fandom can be very powerful. I think Comeasur731 deserves support and love! Their work has a special vibe and is super cute. God bless Tré Cool once again for sharing and then Billie Joe too ❤️ This has been a really great day for posts and reposts ❤️ I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS NEW RECORD!3 points

I think Butch is a very good musician and his signature sound matches his own songs perfectly. I just don't like how the signature Green Day sound gets lost when they work with him. It doesn't sound very alive and just dead and overproduced. I also think that FOAM would have been a way better album if they kept it simple.3 points

I totally laughed A LOT for this ahahahah really he's so silly, by the way Comeasur is AMAZING, she also did us for Green Day Italia the cover of the Italian version of Size the Green Day by Niki Lee, that's amazing! https://www.amazon.it/Seize-Green-Day-Edizione-Italiana/dp/1727235517 if you wanna have a look at the cover @Give_Me_Novacaine902 points

I noticed Billie follows an artist that draws fursona fanart of him so it seems Billie’s choice of fanart is an aquired taste. I like this cute anime style though, because I think it captures the band well. Billie totally looks like this character she draws him as2 points

We don’t know for sure if Butch Walker is the producer this time. He could’ve just simply liked and commented on the post like all their friends and us fans! For all we know, maybe they got some British producer this time, since they recorded at RAK in London2 points

Never has an album closer thrashed so hard on a Green Day record - nay - ANY record, ever. DAY-AMN. My socks were literally blown off and the song isn't even real. Yet.2 points

He produced FOAM along with Chris Dugan and the band. He's also produced albums for FOB, Weezer and PATD.1 point

I don't think anyone should blame the producer for foam being a shit album. The guys didn't really care about it and it was painfully obvious.1 point

Oh thank god. I thought y'all would leave all the hard fake setlist work to @That Dude. He can't be here coming up with three act rock operas all day.1 point

I thought I read somewhere Billie saying he never really liked it. The re-recorded musical version gave him a new appreciation for the song but I think he liked the cast version better than his own. He maybe just brought it back on the recent tour because it is one of the hits people want to hear. Personally I love it, especially when it’s done live with the full band. He added a portion of it to the acoustic encore at the end of the RevRad tour and let the audience sing most of it.1 point

They absolutely do! Jacket-wise, you can't beat the leather, though. A black leather jacket will forever and always be the classic. Btw here's another great photo with that shirt:1 point

Duke Snyder, hairdresser, I think in the run up FOAM, poss for the Oh Yeah video, around that time.1 point
