Some of us think it’s an album, I’m thinking just a six song EP with none of the past singles. They’re moving on, and want something new to replace Pollyanna in this year’s set I think.

I think it’s the non-asshole version of boomer. I wouldn’t call a nice person a boomer even if they were one generationally because it became synonymous with older people being rude or entititled or otherwise unpleasant to deal with rather than an age signifier.

That plus the fact that UltraQ just released a six song EP and Billie has been saying since their album deal ended that now they can release singles or an EP whenever they want to but they haven’t done an EP yet.

That's what I meant basically when I said Hella Mega/FOAM era isn't doing it for him. There was very little variety. Same shirt, pants, and shoes (as far as I'm aware) every night of the concert tour with only three options for jacket color. He switched it up way more on previous tours. He had some nice outfits at promos, photoshoots, and awards stuff, but the actual tour wardrobe was quite limited.

So I spun Green Day on Spotfiy 24 hours a day on multiple devices just so my statsforspotify would reflect my love for the band. but that's not crazy enough. Now I've ranked all the side projects that are on spotify and I'm going to blast them 24 hours a day until they are all in nice, succinct order. The order that I love them. MUHUHUAHAHAHHAHA.

Tre added #1972 on his NY post. Plan is still in full swing I predict single announcement the 18th, then a week later we'll get the single and album announcement. Album (EP) released on BJA bday. What do you guys expect from this new album or EP? Just six songs? Six new songs plus the singles we've been receiving? They seem to be hinting back toward the old school slappy era, are they going to try to replicate that style?

Billie did decide to cancel his New Year’s Eve appearance even though he tested negative. Not sure if he’s also holding out on other things. That 1972 teaser looks like it could be clips from an upcoming music video too. Either that or maybe they filmed another Heart Like A Hand Grenade/¡Cuatro! making the album documentary for this

For all we know, it could be both the album title and title track. And I have a feeling that Tré’s caption on that Instagram studio photo, “Here’s lookin at you kid.” is hinting towards a lyric in the song!

Exactly. It’s the Gen X version of boomer. Gen X’ers are still cool, but in a slightly old fashioned kind of way.

I didn’t watch the entire show but a cover of Jolene isn’t exactly “new”. I think it was originally released in 1974? It doesn’t matter. It’s iconic. Dolly Parton is Miley’s godmother I think? Either way, people know that song and who Dolly Parton is. She’s iconic. I don’t think genre or age means much of anything with a New Years Eve variety show. Everyone seems to listen to everything. Or nothing at all. I saw an interview and I can’t remember where or what exactly but from what I recall Pete Davidson didn’t know who the Arctic Monkeys are. Not I know or care either it’s just an example of everything knowing nothing and everything and nothing at all. No need to continually call someone a “dad” like it makes them obsolete in a certain crowd when it doesn’t matter. Billie is iconic. I am really disappointed when people on this board and on social media keep referring to Billie as a “dad” like he might be embarrassing. He’s so much cooler than that. Technically yes he’s a dad. He had kids when he was a kid himself and now they’re grown. Hopefully he can spend more time on himself these days. He himself is not finished growing up and evolving. I can’t wait to see what he does next.

Me too. The Longshot is so good and the account was fun and small. Not small but funsized. So glad the Billie Joe account is back. The Longshot account is a nice complement to the larger account. I hope it comes back too with new Longshot songs.

Yeah, I think he looked spectacular during RevRad. I'll always think 21CB and AI (particularly 21CB) are superior to any other looks he's had, but RevRad was definitely one of the best eras for Billie's wardrobe. I mean, just look at this! It's quite varied. If there ever was a wardrobe that doesn't work for him it's Hella Mega/FOAM imo.
