  5. Or at least make it that you're paying for a fanclub/a Green Day thing. Forcing an unwanted random product that has nothing whatsoever to do with Green Day/music on people if they want to get to Green Day pictures/videos is the weird part lol. BUT having said that it might be that they post stuff on social media or you get it for the free subscription anyway, in which case there's no problem. Again even if it's locked behind a paid coffee subscription that's their right...but that just doesn't seem like the best marketing choice/the best way to endear themselves to GD fans. Potentially alienating fans of their huge astronomically successful band for the sake of their very small and modestly successful coffee company would be an odd choice. But this is an "if" - imo if it is behind a paywall it most likely won't be tons of content and there will be content available free as well.

  7. So I’m reading Trouble Boys, the biography of The Replacements and I learn that the band had a name for their Ford Econoline van that they used for their first national tour and it was Otis. Knowing how much Billie loves these guys I wonder if that’s where he got the idea from to name his studio that. (The ‘Mats got the name Otis from the drunk on The Andy Griffith Show) The trashed Otis van also appears on the back of their album Let It Be so it had to be pretty legendary and known to fans.

  8. I was watching the Cain's Ballroom performances with my bf and he seemed to enjoy them....though he kept singing "Threat Level Midnight" during every song. So I guess he really likes that song, though I had to tell him that's a different band 😜

  10. Right? It would make way more sense to have this be through a Green Day oriented thing. Idiot Nation would offer exclusive pictures and videos sometimes. If they did something like that again then I would understand. The decision to tether it to coffee is just bizarre and obviously excludes a lot of fans. I would pay for Green Day only content (at a more reasonable price), but I don't want coffee stuff.

  11. I get what you're saying, but this is exactly the kind of thing that should be free for fans. I understand paying for music, concert tickets, merch, etc. That makes sense. Something that's essentially the same as what they were doing during RevRad with their livestreams to foster that deep connection they have with fans should not be stuck behind a coffee paywall. The kind of content it is conveys the intention of wanting to connect with fans and that should be free. That's just my opinion, though.

  12. I'm not like, upset or offended, I just think it's a weird marketing tactic to associate Green Day with fancy coffee THIS strongly lol. Next they'll all wear Oakland Coffee t shirts on stage. I know it's their brand and it's better than if it was a big corporation but it's just strange to use signing up for a niche product that not many people care about to be the thing that gets you cool stuff from a band that way more people care about. Getting some kind of Oakland Coffee offer or whatever as an extra bonus when signing up for a Green Day thing would seem more logical. It's no issue because we'll probably set to see stuff anyway (and it's only some photos/videos) but I find it funny

  13. That first one is such a cool pic. I really like these as well. Just Billie being Billie
    4 points
  14. I get that but then just charge me a fair nominal price for tour content and I’ll pay it. Create your own fan website for perks like the old fan clubs for a fee, fine. Bad enough to be cut off from contact as a fan, but to be gouged too or alienated for not buying their coffee is just added injury. What did we do to deserve this? It’s never been so challenging to be a fan, it’s like they’re purposely making it harder. Just to weed out a few trolls?

  18. I am super excited about the show on Saturday. I wonder what the setlist is going to be like. I wonder what the vibe is going to be like. So anxious about shows like these right now and it’s such a big show. But I’m still excited. Mostly about the set list. I bet it’s going to be a big let down with no Trilogy and no big surprises especially since it’s a big stadium tour but I’m still so excited. Please everyone stay safe and be kind and take care. So excited about what the set list is going to look like and can’t believe it’s all going down in about 48 hours.

  20. I like Weezer and FOB as well as the Interrupters but I’m feeling alright without my Hella Mega tickets for now. Come this weekend and I see the setlist is something great I might pull the trigger on a ticket (assuming it lines up with a day off) but I won’t be bummed if I miss this tour. I can’t wait to see the band live again but I can’t justify the ticket price for a greatest hits compilation right now. I know that’s what a bulk of the big shows are that they do but Bang Bang and stuff wouldn’t be bad. I even like the silliness of the “hey ohs” and KFAD. The silliness adds to the performance to me, it’s why a Green Day concert is entertaining cause Billie engages so much. I hope they do solo tour again soon.

  24. I just get the feeling Billie is not a big fan of his fans right now. Not everyone but just the fan culture, social media, cancel culture, etc. I think they are consciously making decisions that limit fan discourse and negative commentary.

  26. Hopefully it's really just a tie-in and the paid subscription isn't actually what gets you the content, or it's only a small amount of it behind the paywall. If that's all it is I have no problem with it (other than finding it weird lol), so I'll reserve judgement. Is Idiot Nation gone? I forget. I disliked it but I would buy a year's subscription when there was a tour just to get the ticket presales. I better not ever have to sign up for coffee for that lmao

  30. Same feelings. Alienated. I really do like the idea of their product. I really like that there’s a Billie, Mike and Tre element to the brand. However, it is too pricey to attach it to exclusive fan content. I love coffee but I work hard and I am broke. Luxury is out of reach. Heck, concert tickets are out of reach right now. It seems really opposite of what the band supposedly stands for. In a bubble for too long. Maybe they need people who don’t kiss their butts or try to use them or live in the same bubble. Maybe they’ve alienated themselves and forgot what it’s like not to be them as they are at this moment. Decades of decadence whether they realize it or not. Or maybe they don’t care or just don’t get it. However, super happy that if they attach a partnership so glad it’s with themselves and for a quality product with the environment in mind etc and it’s smart that it’s a product people want and would result in repeat customers and even a want/need for a subscription. But as far as attaching it to Green Day content a fan would love… Someone who has living in a bubble for too long made a whacky decision with this. Unless it’s part of the free subscription or like $1.99 or something like that. Not a lot official social media posts already felt like distancing (that’s fine if social media can be great but also terrible) and now on top of feeling so distant without social media spending $ that’s probably not in many of our means for this subscription for content feels alienating.

  31. I don't care about the number of songs they play, as long as I'm being entertained it makes no difference to me. And I'd still want KFAD even with a 90 minute show . So I hope for as long a show as possible. But it's been obvious it would be shorter with three bands headlining so I accept it.

  32. This seems dumb , I don't drink coffee and if I did I wouldn't be buying imported expensive stuff. Like, I guess it's better than some big corporate sponsor but I dunno why they'd want to associate the band with coffee to this extent? Associating the band with an expensive luxury product/subscription for well off middle class types that it's likely the majority of their fans aren't rich enough for, it's just weird and doesn't seem like great marketing. Just makes them seem middle aged and out of touch. If they want to boost their coffee sales a coffee promotion with a Green Day element seems like it would make more sense no? Green Day makes coffee cooler but coffee doesn't make Green Day cooler lol. It seems like it's the wrong way round, as if coffee is the main thing and Green Day is the side thing. Hopefully the free subscription gets us something or they'll post stuff on social media as well? That would be cool, otherwise can't see anything exciting about this.

  33. Nope, not just you. But with all the problems in the world, I can’t get worked up over this. I guess they figure if they’re gonna become corporate sellouts to a sponsor, better it be their own company, one who’s values are their own, and invest back in their own business at the same time. Also, it is a solution to the social media love/hate relationship by moving content to a site they control and eliminating haters and trolls that can comment elsewhere. I can see it being to their benefit. My biggest problem is the one you mentioned — I’m a tea drinker. I buy an occasional box of pods from Oakland Coffee for guests and to have the rare cup because it happens to be really good coffee. But I don’t buy enough to be a subscriber. So for what is basically their fan club now, doing everything Idiot Nation did, it is not enough to be a Green Day fan. To get access to every perk and feel really special, you have to be a coffee drinking Green Day fan. Seems unfair and arbitrary for a fan club. So I’ll just have to sign up for free and take whatever free stuff they offer to the lower classes like me.

  38. Not as a role model, that show was a one night only. I don't think I'll live anything as epic as that ever again (GD related). However, I'm pretty sure they'll play at least 15 out of the 27 songs off that setlist during Hella Mega. But my whole point was that a 90 minutes GD show can be just as epic (if not more) as a 130 minutes one if they just stick to the music (no 9 minutes Hitchin a Ride, no KFAD/Shout, less "Hey Ohs"...).
