Omg same! That's exactly what I thought of when I saw that picture!3 points

For an album, yes, especially if it was seen as a comeback, first one in years, etc. For singles on the rock charts, no (unless they're teaming up with a current artist), whereas GD still charts #1 on those. And the Stones don't have their new songs played on contemporary or alternative radio, whereas GD does.2 points

Oh wow! My "Jump Salty" LP has a little more black mixed in with the orange on the splatter. I'm loving my subscription. The t shirts are amazing quality and I love the funky Cometbus art style on 'em.2 points

sooo on the other hand, the new Van Weezer lp sounds lit cant wait to hear some of the new songs live2 points

I love how he sings so much with his eyes open, it feels like we see more of him, though it’s also good when he closes his eyes. Some singers seem to close their eyes all the time. You can see he is clearly watching the audience at times. The TOTP show was so good, he was like a little kid over the fireworks he could see in the distance 😍😍😍2 points

These pics are so freaking good, I couldn't believe they actually exist at first! They're from Longshot Philadelphia show in 2018 btw.2 points

For a second, I thought that was from the same show that gave us this. That would have been too perfect.2 points

Agreed. When I think of legacy acts, I think of bands who tour solely on their names, like Fleetwood Mac, Guns & Roses, etc, without putting out any new material. Or like the Rolling Stones, who put out new material, but it doesn't chart well. People are at their concerts solely because of their past work. Plenty of casual GD fans might only go to their shows for this reason, but plenty of people were singing Bang Bang and Still Breathing right along with all of the hits during the RevRad tour. And RevRad charted #1, FOAM #4, with the singles doing well on the rock charts, so people are still interested in their current work.2 points

Came across the RevRad instrumentals (with a few FOAM ones) in case anyone else is interested. Wish there were more isolated vocals out there.1 point

I also thought it was from that show, but I remembered wrong. It's from TOTP 2005. Billie looks virtually the same in both shows and he's dressed the same too, so it's easy to confuse them. I've made gifs from this show. I made one of his screams and one of when he gets crazy eyes during JoS.1 point

When you're on other pop-punk related sites and realize that nobody knows what you're talking about because you (and the GDA community as a whole) are crazy deep into Green Day Lore like no others. There's some really strange Pop Punk groups of facebook guys. S*** gets weird. Pop Punk Kids just has people posting "is this pop punk" or "is that pop punk" and a bunch of selfies, drama and the like. The group itself isn't pop punk I guess, but it's fun.1 point

You're right. Just the style of the booklet. But Are they talking about the shooter?1 point

I didn’t notice it said "comic". It's in the CD booklet, a little "Can you see Kyle"!1 point

Spank Billie Now & Next. Ah, yes. Just what I’ve always wanted to do.1 point

Was looking through my GD photos and found the last selfie we got from Billie. That was in December of 2020 - 5 months ago next week.1 point

I said "in the legacy act zone" haha, but yeah I agree with everything you said about them as well, my point was just that they don't really need an album out to tour/headline.1 point

Okay, ass territory is out of my jurisdiction, but I can definitely do eyes. Holyyyyy Jesus I have never seen this and my fucking god! 😵 Look at that green color! He NEEDS to bring the eyeliner back!1 point

When you smile because you find out from a neighborhood facebook page that the name of the cow you walk past regularly is Kevin. Also had a guy tell me "cool shirt" (Rudy's Can't Fail Cafe) and wondered if he knew what it pertained to or if he only knew the Clash reference.1 point

Was googling the lyrics to Hold On. And here I thought it was Look for Love that started Billie's career.1 point
-
first band that comes to my mind is system of a down nothing new since 2005 (!) but still headlining the shit out of all major festivals1 point
-
I said that but I don't mean it in a negative way or that they're just a legacy act. I mean they're well established enough as a legendary band and as a quality live act that they can still play large shows and headline etc even if they don't have a successful album (or any album at all) out at the time.1 point
-
It really makes me happy that GD are still headliners at all the festivals they play. I've read some people saying that they're now considered a "legacy act", but in my opinion, that is absolutely not true. They are still an insanely popular, hard working, and creative band that people love to see live. Maybe the last record wasn't as well received as others, but I know there will be one again that is universally loved. That's just what Green Day does. They make music outstanding music that they are genuinely passionate about, regardless of popularity, and play some of the best live shows in the world. I just really hope they'll make the right decision about these upcoming dates to keep themselves and their fans as safe and comfortable as possible. 2022 sounds like a great time to get back into things. Can't wait to see footage from Rock Am Ring next year!1 point

german Rock am Ring and Rock im Park festival just announced the first part of their 2022 line-up, as expected, GD will be one of the headliners1 point

Hm I most definitely don't consider Brutal Love, 8th Avenue Serenade, Amanda, Dirty Rotten Bastards and The Forgotten as the boring aftermath.1 point

This is what we’re doing? The Trilogy can be hyper discussed on several levels but this is fun and seems simple enough. Just a personal opinion (although I do love them all for various reasons). Uno > Dos > RevRad > FOAM > Tre (FOAM and RevRad can be switched in order of mood. Sometimes it’s FOAM > RevRad). Yes, Dos has Nightlife but it also has See You Tonight, Stop When the Red Lights Flash, Wild One and Fuck Time so as a Longshot and FBHT fan I’m seeing the greatness of Dos and Uno with a couple of songs I skip on both those records but the whole make up for some of the lesser fav parts. More is more and I love the Trilogy. The way the records are organized is great. However, I feel Tre is the boring aftermath of greatness. Ironically Tre Cool is the exact opposite of boring back to boring life aftermath. I barely ever listen to Tre (the record not the drummer give me all the Tre Cool all the time). Exception: Dirty Rotten Bastards1 point

It just lists the tours that have been previously pushed til 2022 and at the end says that green day and guns n roses have both had their Minnesota shows moved til 2022. Can't imagine they move one show til next year and not the rest unless they plan to do "special " shows like Fenway and Wrigley which wouldn't be much of a tour. But yeah if a show at the end of August isn't happening it stands to reason the tour isn't either this Summer . *edit* Target Field representatives confirmed the Guns N' Roses and Green Day concerts will roll over to 2022. Expect the same for Def Leppard at U.S. Bank Stadium. Even fall arena gigs by Harry Styles and the Eagles seem iffy.”.1 point
-
In a Gn'R Facebook group someone posted a pic of a newspaper clipping with a Target Field (Minnesota) representative confirming that the Gn'R show and Hella Mega (August 23) are both being pushed til 2022. The US tour as it stands isn't happening. Why would they push some shows til next Summer but play others this year? Makes no sense. https://m.startribune.com/minnesota-concert-scene-is-still-rocky-as-another-quiet-summer-approaches/600050773/1 point

Article on Bieber moving his US shows to 2022 but it says that many venues are booked already for next year . Now I'd think Green Day doing stadiums wouldn't run into this problem in the States if they decided to push til next year. Call me a liberal, tell me I'm " living in fear" etc but I can't believe a band as socially conscious as Green Day would push ahead this year with Hella Mega. https://www.syracuse.com/entertainment/2021/04/justin-bieber-delays-tour-including-buffalo-concert-for-2022-report.html1 point

It would actually be great advertising for the tour, kind of like how the Whiskey A GoGo show was a kick off teaser mini show. They could do a prerecorded event like that and air it along with promo and ticket info for the tour in 20221 point

Same! I would happily pay for a cool livestream event. It doesn't even have to be a traditional show. Lots of bands have found ways to make these livestream things interactive or just offer more than what you would typically get from a live DVD: q+as, exclusive footage, in depth interviews, or just intricate sets to match with the songs - similar to what Biffy Clyro did. There are lots of things Green Day could do make a worthwhile livestream event. I would be interested to see what they'd do and I would totally pay for it.1 point

QOTSA I believe are only playing Reading this summer, unless I've missed any other announcements.1 point

I've been thinking about this whole situation a lot today, and I'm probably going to get some flack for what I'm about to write, but whatever. I think them coming out and saying they're going ahead with the US stadium shows this year is honestly super irresponsible. Yes, we eventually have to move forward, but I don't think the world (except Aus and NZ lol) are ready for THIS much of a jump. How are they expecting to do shows with 40k (or more) in attendance? There's no fucking way. Every other artist I know has either cancelled or moved their dates to next year. Why should they be the exception? I can appreciate the optimism but like, damn. Even if they CAN go ahead, these will not be sold out shows. There will be thousands of people requesting refunds because they will not be comfortable attending (myself included). Are they really going to play a bunch of maybe half full stadiums? How are they going to make any money off that? I just don't get it. I think they'd be more successful waiting until next year if they're so desperate to make Hella Mega happen. If they move it to next year, I will hang on to my ticket, but if they somehow move ahead with it this year, I will be requesting/demanding a refund. And I think there will be tens of thousands of others like me. TL;DR: this is a dumb decision and they should be postponing to next year if they want to make this the least bit successful.1 point
