As per usual I'm late to the party but wow what a listening experience! This album is just perfect I love all of them so much. I enjoyed all the songs but I have to say that those sung by Van Gough have something special in them. Not only are they the most Network-y, but they hit me on a deep emotional level, I don't really know how to explain this. It's not even something personal nor is it connected with the lyrics, it's more of a feeling of staring at the whole world from atop a mountain and being at peace with it. My personal favorite on the entire album is Digital Black (followed closely by JFPP). I think I found something interesting searching for lyrics on Genius, I don't think that has been brought up yet. On That's How They Get You, apart from the title, what Snoo (?) is saying could be "Verrückter Dummkopf", which in German means "a very stupid and crazy person". I think it makes a lot of sense, the lyric being in German (The Network is obviously a German band) and the theme of Snoo's songs being conspiracists and people who are easily fooled. The pronunciation is bad though, it sounds like how an American would say it. Strange 🤔 @Hermione I read you were wondering about how many times Fink says "amyl" and "nitrate" in Popper Punk. I like to do these sorts of things so here you go: "Amyl": 52 times; "Nitrate": 46 times; "Wohohoho" 😂: 18 times. (All including back vocals too). Also I totally think the little strumming at the beginning of Hey Elon is a reference to Good Riddance and I love it. Or I just like to think so because it's just perfect ♥️8 points

Was just watching the 1994 WTP performance on the Jon Stewart Show, and at the end, when Jon said "Happy St. Patrick's Day", of course my mind went here.6 points

Ignore what's in the spoiler. It's not worth your time. Not a single member of Green Day can pull of a fedora. Not a one... other than Jason Freese. I think the only exceptions are AI Tre and maybe even Trilogy Mike. AI Tre could pull off anything. Trilogy Mike only gets a pass because he looked so stupid, but it was kinda cute at the same time. And it was cute how hard he tried to make it work. This is a prime example. He looks ridiculous, but adorable.5 points

In case anyone is interested, I reviewed NFM for a local publication Illinois Entertainer, which our boys graced the cover of last year Link to the digital mag (review is on page 24) https://view.joomag.com/illinois-entertainer-january-2021/0033518001609450844?short&4 points

It looks like he's doing a promo shoot for his new country album about trucks, booze, guns, and trying to get his woman back.4 points

I suggest we wait until Green Day gets a less ugly logo or go back to the old one or just remain the network community4 points

Very nice jab at The Network there. I like it! But you were the one who said the earth was flat.3 points

Hey, I'm just giving the people what they want! Which is more of this (I'm sorry I keep finding these amazing gifs and I have to share :P)3 points

I suggest we remain the network community until Green Day release an album that’s as good as The Network’s3 points

It's a bit disturbing that the amyls and nitrates don't match up2 points

I never imagined humping someone could be so pure. That’s something I never thought I’d have to say. Mike can’t wear a fedora; that’s a known fact. But you know what he can wear? You’re welcome.2 points

His face in this last gif is all like "yOU kNOw wHaT i mEaN" That's about right2 points

It’s not, it’s the real one. He only used replicas in the nineties according to Hans and has long since retired them all.2 points

When you go past a Van Gogh exhibit sign and think, Mike's having his own exhibit? (I was listening to Amnesia Vagabond at that moment.)1 point

Omg, you are spot on. My problem is, with Mike looking like that, I just might have to buy it 😂😂1 point

so, 2020 is over (hallelujah), will we become the green day community again or is the network taking over 2021 too? 😄1 point

Though the foreground is very very nice, I love David in the background. It's like he's toasting the happy couple 😂1 point

I love this picture for an obvious reason but also because it looks like a perfect meme material.1 point

One more thing we agree on I hate them too, but I always thought I was the only one since most people worship them like you're not a fan if you don't have one. So glad GD is not in that kind of consumerism. And even though they did have their figures, they were different and made them as band merch, not to be part of some trend.1 point

While we're at non-macho things that are actually very attractive...1 point

Can't think of a more appropriate performance to celebrate the end of this year. Happy New Years GDC!1 point

It is so sweet! I love how affectionate they are with each other without making it look like a joke or no-homoing it.1 point
-
Absolutely! That ott macho always makes me think “over-compensating” 😁 and yes, I love the way they are not afraid to show affection, the Ride doc where Tre says at the end, if you find yourself still together in your band 39 years later, it’s a very good thing if you love those guys gets me every time ❤️1 point
-
I love the way Billie shows affection towards the boys and I don't just mean potentially spicy moments where he's necking with Kevin. I mean just the way he'll hug Mike and Tre or just interact with them. These gifs comes to mind: It's so fucking sweet! And I love that he's not afraid to show that affection without going nO hOmO!!!! A dude who is secure enough with himself and his sexuality to show affection like that is wildly attractive imo.1 point
-
It's a paradox of how masculinity is seen in our society. On one hand, men showing affection to each other in a playful, flirty way is assumed to be non-sexual because of heteronormativity, but at the same time, some men are afraid of platonic affection, out of fear of looking gay.1 point
-
I still have my suspicions about those two but let's end it there. I'll just say the only reason I was looking forward to HM was the Billie/Kevin shenanigans that were bound to happen.1 point
-
Before we get a row for speculating, I agree that Billie/Green Day/Kevin love to mess with people, particularly if they think there are bigots about, and we all love seeing it too! I don't mind wondering privately.1 point
-
Yeah, when Billie's all stage/interview ready, I'd say he looks mid 30s. Slacking around at home, early 40s. Nowhere near almost 50.1 point

I was Christmas shopping on Amazon and it recommended this to me so I bought the CD on a whim. It arrived, looking forward to unwrapping it on Christmas Day. Shame about the vinyl for all you guys though.1 point
