  1. Just my thoughts love seeing people's opinions on this. Just I've been thinking about this since the announcement of the tour and album! For me I just like that it's just care free. Back to basics. Green Day from their start of their career said we make music for us and if people like it then that's great but if not who cares we like it. It's about finding some pleasure during this awful world we live in right now. For me being in the UK and just being on this planet in general. Im sick of Brexit talk, global warming talk, war, coronavirus etc. While I know its serious, we need to let go and enjoy what we have sometimes. Also, we are all in this together! Sorry for getting deep haha. I just feel this is an escape from everything. The songs are punchy and will be awesome live. Green Day are having a good time. Also there are still some deep issues they cover in the lyrics like in junkies on a high Billie sings rock n roll tragedy, I think the next one could be me. What a line that is. He mentions police brutality in graffitia. There is love songs, there is money, there is partying and some politics. There is a bit of everything and its not boring or expected. It's simple, 2-3 minute songs, rock n roll and a good feel album. I really like this album. Dont get me wrong it's not my fav. I would say 21cb in my opinion is green days best album musically and lyrically. Warning is the album I like the most. But I just think this era is about having fun and escaping from the world. Just my opinion haha. I said a hey ohhhhhhhhhh

  2. I'm so happy to don't give a fuck about other people opinions anymore. I like this album. That's what matter the most for me.

  3. I can take negative reviews of the album. I get it it's not for everyone. What I don't like are people who put down others for enjoying it. I hate it when someone is explaining what they get out of the record and it draws comments like are you serious? Why try to make someone feel bad for their music choices? They're getting something out of the music that you didn't and that's fine. For me the album is still a banger! I'm loving every minute of it.

  4. Nope. Still not buying into negative reviews. Still a strong 8/10 for me. Although I enjoy reading other people's opinions about the album so much!

  5. They nailed it out of the ballpark with Graffitia. Quite possibly the best closing track since Whatsername.

  6. Truthfully? It’s painful to see our favorite band ridiculed. Their cred is taking a hit and some of it was caused by unwise promo and unnecessary comments in interviews. They need to do better. As far as the music, they should keep putting out whatever they want and the critics can go to hell. Just don’t make these other mistakes again. And this is coming from someone who was happy when they switched to Crush. Not anymore. Oh and one more thing. They really need to pick their singles more carefully.

  7. Maybe we should give Ariana’s new album 0 ratings out of fucking spite. See how triggered they get then.

  10. Should have gone with MMOTR, Graffitia and Junkies for the more experimental single

  11. Am I the only one who can't listen to Junkies On A High? Because that "rock n roll tragedy" line makes me sad :/

  12. The fandom is worried about Billie partying too hard while he's at home watching soap operas...

  13. im not sure ill ever understand why anybody gives a shit what other people think of a record. if you like it - thats great. why are you concerned with reviews or what other people think? gd are massive millionaires and don't really need anymore money. some people not buying their albums based on reviews or not like them are not going to stop them from making music. they do it because they want to. so once again i pose the question - why do you give a shit what people think?

  18. THANK YOU. I will never understand people who willingly go to videos, sites, etc for something they have zero interest in just to shit all over it. Do you really have so little going on in your life that you leave dumb comments for things you don't like? What would I get out of going to a Taylor Swift video and saying "lawl she sux." Nothing. I wouldn't even waste my time because I don't listen to her music. I've never understood this mentality.

  19. Just breaks the integrity of the rating system. Also, I'm not into that form of music so right off the bat I'd give it a 1/10 only cause I don't think 0 should even be a score. It's 1-10. Either way, I'm not into this pop music thing but there are people who are into it and may rely on that score to determine whether or not it's worth giving it a try. My opinion isn't relevant to them our taste is entirely different. Mine is more sophisticated but all joking aside, I know we're a strong community here at GDC and may want to retaliate but I will say even Green Day themselves are laughing about this. They don't care and we shouldn't either. Actually, Ariana fans giving this a 0 validates it more for me. I mean you can but you should tape your butthole closed first although some cellmates like it gift wrapped

  20. My vinyl from the GD shop still hasn't arrived, dammit! I listened to the CD and on Spotify multiple times, now I need the vinyl experience. What I can definitely say is that this album is a headphone album. You're missing something if you don't listen to this shit with good headphones, there's so much going on in the background and I can't get over the fact how cool those stereo effects are.

  22. All of your moms are fangirls, meanwhile I mention to my mom that Billie's birthday is next Monday and of course she asks how old he'll be (she already knows he's in his 40s and I'm 28 btw) and so I say 48 and she says "Wow, you sure like 'em old, don't you." Of course I immediately follow up with "But he doesn't look it. That's the thing!" She knows I love him and just likes teasing me about it.

  24. This album is as polarized as I’ve ever seen. Some of the bad reviews are REALLY bad.. The Lemon actually gave the album 0/10 and someone actually called it the worst thing to happen since famine.. ouch!

  27. I am absolutely obsessed with “Meet Me On the Roof.” Super catchy lyrics, good chord progression, production is phenomenal with the claps, guitar tone, backing vocals. Ahhh 🥰

  28. RevRad was totally a concept album for me, with the two Nows holding it together. That's why Ordinary World shouldn't have been on the album, it kind of ruins the dramaturgy. And I totally agree with @HAPPY ROOTING UNICORN, I can see (or rather feel) a clear concept in FOAM too. And can I just say how much I love Graffitia? Serious 21CB vibe alert

  29. That's true, as a political song it might make it look like they're really doing American Idiot 2 (or 3, does Breakdown count?), I still think the singles are the weakest tracks on the album and I say that despite thinking it's their best work in a long time.

  30. Lol one of the negative user reviews says the album has ''boomer energy''. But the few that are there from Grande fans are interesting lol this one is my fav ''Thank u, next outsold this trash projet. Ariana's Karma never fail U clown better wash this **** mouth when u GO talk about pop princess'' I mean I understand that most of these are just pre teens or younger teens being protective of ''their'' favourite artist but ya the older you get this stuff just looks so bad.

  31. I can answer this by saying it’s like rooting for your favorite sports team. I like to see them have success and it feels good when what they do is received well by others and they are successful. Maybe it validates my opinion of them but also I think maybe it makes them happy. By contrast, if they’re getting hate or a release flops I feel bad for them. Artists still want what they make to be liked and appreciated no matter how much money they have. It’s not about money. I think a lot of them have a measure of self doubt and need the external validation to a point, even while they can insist on making the music they want to make and claim that doesn’t matter.

  35. Yeah I think now social media makes it easier for fandoms to start shit. And because of the internet they have a wider impact so I think that's why we're seeing it now. I really hate that toxic fandom way of thinking. People would get into fights at school arguing which one was better. People wouldn't be friends with each other if they like the "wrong" group. So I was always the odd one out because I liked both of them 🤷‍♀️

  38. Can you explain me by which standard you consider Junkies a commercial song? Not asking this as a provocation, I am just curious to know which commercial songs of today’s music market this reminds you of. I would also be curious to know how this is more a “background” record than anything this band released at least in the last 10 years. I don’t want to shut down your criticism, I just would like to understand where it comes from. It’s like the people calling these car commercial songs, I really struggle to understand which commercial they are referring to, and would like to find out. Out of fun I skimmed through the first bunch of videos showing up on YT looking for “car commercial 2019” and none has a rock song as a soundtrack, so I am a bit confused.

  39. I think we should leave Fantano alone. The poor guy is just doing his job. But, for his own wellbeing, I hope he never gives an Ariana Grande album a 0-score.

  41. What a bizarre album and an experience to match. I'm able to view this in both very positive and very negative lights , something I've never had with any album before. I was appalled by this album on my first spin Friday night, fell in love with it by the third spin! Effectively making this the faster "grower" album I've ever dealt with, very odd. I'm not sure why that happened yet, I'd say it took a minute for me to fully grasp what they were trying to do/going for, but the truth is; I still have no idea what that is. I hadn't listened to any of the songs they put out as singles, which was a wise decision since the album is pretty short and I would have been left with what? Around 19 minutes of new music, for a new album/new era; that would have been a bummer. To me ,the music is Foxoboro Hot Tubs without the mid-60's amps sound, for the most part. Dos had 3 or 4 songs with the same feel, which leads me to believe that the FHT are now fully integrated into the Green Day sound and it'll be silly if we ever see it as a separate entity again. I thought Armstrong had gotten over this sound when Revolution Radio came out devoid of it but clearly I was wrong. As I said, I can see this album in both a positive light and a negative one, I'm choosing to go with the positive since I'm totally enjoying it right now. All the vocal melodies on here are phenomenally catchy to me, the chorus to the title track simply won't get out of my head and I'm sure more will follow as I get the lyrics memorized. I'm sure someone else noticed but there's some wrong lyrics in the booklet that came with the CD. Teenage Teenager and Stab You are the only two songs I don't like, which is amazing when you got a 40 minutes album but affordable when it's only 26 minutes. Junkies is amazing, although I have a little problem with it's chorus being too reminiscent of The Lightening Seeds' You Showed Me, the "And when I tried" verse. They're one of these alt-rock British bands that come out with 2 or 3 amazing songs on an album and everybody thinks we're in for a treat of a career but they end up sucking directly after that, there's at least one British band of that description for every decade since the 80's haha So top-tier for me are the title track, Fire, Ready, Aim, Sugar Youth and Junkies. Mid-tier is Oh Yeah, Roof & Take The Money. Low-tier is Graffitia, Teenage Teenager and Stab You. But it's still early days so we'll see if that remains the case. I know I said that I wasn't gonna talk about the negative light but one thing I'll mention cause it keeps buzzing in my head: there's a lot of moments on this album that is eerily similar to the music they have playing whenever I go to Forever 21, shit that rich marketing people in their 40's think appeal to teenagers, and they could be right, but it's not a good sound for GD at all. inb4 "why do YOU go into Forever 21 you old fuck?", well I have a teenage sister, douche! I've been watching interviews here and there and it seems a sure thing they didn't release all the songs they recorded cause they wanna release them on their next record label ASAP, which is good. tldr: I'm very much enjoying the album with few reservations here and there.
