Guys, I give you a quick hello, I haven't got much time lately but I'm so happy to read this thread as usual . And fortunately Billie hasn't gone slimmer or less chiny on this leg of the tour, why on earth would he : As for the nose hair , as far as I'm concerned, he can let the gray take over.5 points

The one & only time hubby saw GD with me he talked for months afterwards about what an amazing frontman BJ is. We would be at bbqs at friends houses & he would bring up the topic of how great the concert was & how involved BJ got the crowd etc. Apart from BJ you get the entertainment value from all the other members on stage - I think thats what makes a GD concert unique.4 points

I bet Billie is partly loving the adoring crowds and partly can't wait to get home to Oakland where people hardly give him a second look on the street.4 points

I'm always so amazed by his voice in the second chorus of Whatsername, where you can hear the emotion as it comes through.4 points

Maybe the fans in South America are super crazy because GD haven't been there for 7 years and are making the most of them being there? And I love the new Instagram pictures Billie posted- especially the 5th one3 points

Yeah, in other pictures from the hotel there he looks like he’s loving it but then other times it’s just a little too crazy. I don’t remember the other legs of the tour being anything like this. It’s like Beatlemania, there are crowds at every hotel and at the airports. No wonder they always remember South America fondly, we only see a fraction of the craziness that they see and it is definitely different from Europe and the US where they meet small groups of polite fans here and there. I can’t believe the screams 😱3 points

Old photo, but I so wish that he had open all his shirt. ADHD people get bored fast. But I think he said it more like a joke this time, like a reason to make us «go away» so he could turn off his phone.3 points

I agree. They're so much more appreciative because they don't get the regular tour stops like the rest of the world. The rest of us (N America, Europe, Australia) take it for granted that they'll be somewhere near us. For Asia and S America it's possibly a once in a lifetime thing. I think the band know and appreciate that, but it's got to be exhausting at times.2 points

I went to a shop with mum and while we were standing there debating over a potential Christmas present (closely watched by one of the shop assistants), When It's Time started playing on the radio, of all songs... definitely a surprise. I got really excited about it for a moment and kept nudging poor mum and telling her to listen and that I never heard this song on the radio2 points

Me to my teenage daughter: “I’m really excited about the new Green Day song that’s coming out next week” TD: “Is their next record going to be their mid-life crisis record?” Me: “No they already went through a mid-life crisis in 2012” TD: “It’s really sad that you’re into a band that’s already past it’s mid-life crisis” 😂2 points

As to the Red Lights Flash discussion, just thought I'd throw it in that the phrase actually first appeared in their version of That's Alright Mama, the 21CB bonus track. I think that's honestly one of the best Trilogy songs.2 points

Tbh people only started worrying about every move Billie made and every sad thing he wrote after rehab . Like he always wrote about deep dark stuff but people just accepted that as part of expressing himself, never really saw a lot of worrying going on until we were given actual real life reason to. Not saying no one was concerned by any of his lyrics but it was kind of a different perspective before then, it's really only once you can see the parallels to real life events that it becomes more scary with hindsight.2 points

Yeah, maybe. Or could he just be putting on a different voice? He's pretty good at doing voices, as proven by yesterday's instagram live.1 point

Holy shit, I did not know that was Billie talking in EJN. I've just gone back to listen to it and it really doesn't sound like him, but it also does kinda sound like him at the same time.1 point
-
I thought for ages after I first heard it that it wasn't Billie but realised eventually it was him I did the same thing when EJN came out and I heard the 'and you will see..' part. It throws you off because it's not his singing voice but it's him.1 point

I do have a very annoying brother (and he is still very annoying at 38 years old), but he doesn't do voices like Billie did. Billie would have been an annoying brother, but I would rather have Billie as my brother than my real older brother. Can I adopt Billie?1 point

I definitely think he’d be difficult to work for. I adore him and therefore would probably never want to work for him directly, haha. In my experience, the more confident, driven, and unapologetic the artist, the harder they are to work for (even if they’re not an asshole). I think he’d be difficult to live with too but in a different way. And there’s more reward to the latter as you said 😜😉.1 point

Another one: earlier this morning, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation was broadcasting Insiders, which is a sort of news panel show. They had a little video clip beforehand about a racist incident against an Iranian-born politician, and for some reason they decided to play American Idiot in the background during the clip. EDIT: Here's the clip, with AI in all its uncensored glory.1 point

The bit at about :48. The smirk and the eyebrow twitch.... I am a ghost right now because I died. I came back but then I saw this and died again.1 point

Yeah, I'm glad I became a super fan post rehab. Those songs, among others, are great but the sheer quantity of songs he wrote about dying, his addictions being out of control, depression, etc. would've had me worrying he was gonna turn up dead any day back then. I guess this is more of a popular opinion but I'm glad we're past that era (hopefully for good). I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion or not, but all this talk of OW reminds me that I really wish that song was left off Rev Rad. I have the CD in my car and I tend to skip it when it comes up, so I realized pretty quick that the ending of Forever Now is the same as the beginning of Somewhere Now. Not to mention I love album closers that reference songs earlier in the album. The album just feels done when that song ends and OW feels out of place.1 point

Just popping in to say Billie is perfect and the new hair is everything.1 point

I can understand if you don't like it, that is just personal preference. But I don't understand how you think it is dumb? Can you explain?1 point

Billie is always so cute during KFAD. The adorable little smile after the kiss tho.1 point

I've just put a load of pictures in the BJA picture thread, but I think this picture deserves to be in the fangirls thread1 point

YES YES YES Totally, I know he's really always smiled a lot, but it feels just now as if he can't get the smile off his face, I love it. Did I already say here or just think it, it feels like all is right in Billie's world these days (family, band, etc), and he's looks great on it1 point

There is nothing more beautiful than Billie smiling. He smiled a lot this year. He is happy on stage. And he said so many times that RevRad was the best tour ever. It's the first time of his entire life that he both created an album (a very good one), promoted it and toured while being sober. We can be proud of him. Billie is in the right place in his life right now.1 point

I actually think it's a very interesting line in the context of the trilogy-era and the sad time that followed it. I always think of it as a kind of theme because they repeatedly use it on the trilogy (Oh Love, Stop When the Red Lights Flash and Dirty Rotten Batards). So retrospectively, for me it could mean that Billie probably knew he was pushing himself too far, he knew that things started to get out of control, he "saw the red lights flash", but he kept himself pushing. Many trilogy songs are very personal and deal with Billie's problems at that time, but I think they are also full of metaphors and not meant to be taken literally (Nightlife is another good example for the extensive use of metaphors). So I don't know, maybe I'm completely wrong, but I always found the thought interesting, and while I agree that some trilogy lyrics are cringeworthy for various reasons, I don't think they - and especially the red lights-line - are dumb.1 point

No, sometimes its bottle rockets. I thought that article was going to give advice about where to pee when in a stadium and about to go on stage @TimmyChunks - love your alternative lyrics for OW1 point

I love this! He looks sooooo good in these videos! Personally, I like his haircut the most here (at Rio de Janeiro) of all the dates of this leg of the tour so far...1 point

I just got caught up with all of the South America tour stuff and HOLY SHIT Billie looks amazing with short hair. Don't get me wrong, his long hair looks good too, but I'm digging what he is doing with it right now1 point

I wouldn't call it their "best" song but it is very underrated. Very Foxboro Hot Tub like1 point
-
Half the songs are about drinking. You can decide which ones. 😁1 point
-
I don't agree with any of that Although I like the first 2 - Stay the Night is one of the best from the trilogy .1 point
-
I’ve never seen this picture they look really young. Look at Billie’s natural curls!1 point

Drama Queen is great and one of the best songs on the trilogy. Nuclear Family isn't great and is super overrated. Stay The Night is overrated too.1 point
