  2. They sound a lot like Operation Ivy, and that's a good thing in my book.

  3. BJ has to re-use as many words as he can - gives him a higher chance of remembering the lyrics live.

  4. I've never waited for Green Day before, but I've waited for actors and other musicians at the stage door plenty of times. It's perfectly possible to see them, since they have to get into and out of the venue somehow. Unless they have a private coach/car area where they can go straight from the door to the vehicle with no public access. I don't know the specific venue, but most aren't like that. There are 3 key things to remember: Be patient - bands like to take their time coming out at the end. They also like to arrive early. If you want to catch them, you're gonna have to wait for a while, be it before or after the show. Be respectful - whether it's Billie Joe or some random roadie, it's really important. This is their work day, and any time you're there will be a busy time. They're much more likely to take some time out and engage with you if you treat them respectfully as humans rather than yell at them. That random crew member might just be the guy who tells the band that there's a really nice fan waiting outside to speak to them. If the band are tired and on their way home, they're much more likely to stop and engage with you if they can see that a conversation will be easy. Don't get in the way - often venues only have one main stage door, and there'll be gear and not-the-band people rushing around. Getting in people's way will piss them off and is a surefire way to get thrown out before you have a chance to meet the band. There seem to be plenty of people on here who've met the band and can probably offer far more specific and useful advice, so I'm sure, if you do go, that you'll be going prepared!

  7. I'm the exact opposite, I find it so much easier to like Green Day music than with other bands. I feel like I'll always like Green Day's new material, even if there are periods where I don't listen to them that much. A new Green Day song is still excites me even if it's not perfect, and that's probably partly to do with the nostalgia, as well as the really deep meaning this band has for me. Don't get me wrong, if they release an awful song I'm not blind to it. I just still enjoy listening, although not as much as if they released an awesome one of course

  8. RevRad's lyrics aren't impressive, but I don't think we can judge the album by these two songs. I first need to hear Somewhere Now, Say Goodbye, Troubled Times, Still Breathing and Too Dumb To Die and all those other tracks.

  10. He'd better pick me (or he's doomed to being the one who fucks up!) I like them. Definitely a better choice than a boring pop-punk band.

  11. I like their music. It's not exactly early GD style punk, but they have some very catchy songs.

  14. Hey! We have a thread specifically for the Paris show here if you want to talk to other people who know more about that particular show. There's also a thread for the Europe tour here. But I don't think your post is out of place in this thread, don't worry! What sort of message do you want to give (if you don't mind me asking)? I know quite a few people bring signs and hold them up, and it seems like Billie often reads them. Would that be suitable for your message?

  17. You can see why they've gone to Scheps; that blast of volume really is something. But I think they could have achieved a similar effect without taking away from the overall depth and power of the songs, and that someone else would have been a better choice to achieve that. It doesn't matter so much when you listen to Bang Bang alone, or next to revrad, but I really did notice it next to a powerfully mixed/mastered song. Doesn't kill the song for me, but frustrates me that it could've been even better.

  18. I'd switch with you if I could! With Green Day, I tend to think way too much. I listen and analyze different aspects of the song and I tend to evaluate everything. When I listen to other bands, I let the music do its magic. I'm like a crazy scientist vivisecting every note Green Day play. It might be taking away from my experience. I hope so.

  20. I like RevRad a lot, but seriously, so many of the lyrics are rehashes of lines from other songs.

  21. Probably next week. Given that the tour starts Tuesday the 20th, they'll want to give us something to bridge next week.

  24. Same. Since the news about the album coming out, I've been going around the house like "omg mum I've been a fan for 10 years can you believe that, I need new Green Day shirts, the album's out so soon, look at them on this cover how handsome right, tourtourtour..." My family still seem quite used to it though, I guess they haven't forgotten from a few years ago

  28. I don't think it's anything to do with terrorism, or even craziness. I think it's to do with boredom, disillusionment and restlessness that eventually leads to the narrator having some kind of 'fuck this shit' breakdown. For me, it's always come off as more metaphorical than Bang Bang. I have days when I 'want to lead a long trail of destruction, and mow down any bullshit that confronts' me, but that's a million miles away from the disturbing wish for fame for mass murder that's contained in Bang Bang.
