I just listened to 21CB in full for the first time in ages...fucking hell it's utterly glorious. I knew that already but it just properly reminded me. Work of genius.
Today I listened to everything from Insomniac to American Idiot and I realised how different from previous albums Warning actually is - I'm not talking about sound now. Both Insomniac and Nimrod are full of anger. It's either self-loathing, raging about somebody else or songs about drugs/booze. At least in comparison, Warning is so upbeat and positive. It's more about doing things your own way withought caring about others and the whole message of that record is optimistic instead of "i hate everything and my life sucks" and maybe this different attitude is what makes it more mature.
I am sipping a steaming hot cup of Oakland Coffee as I type this. It is robust without a hint of bitterness. I will use sugar in coffee, but will not use it if the coffee is really good. I did not need any sugar for this coffee. It is really, really good. Oakland Coffee gets an A+. The compostable bag gets an F. It split in transit. I had to fish my coffee beans out of the bottom of a cardboard box.
I heard it for the first time in months (could it be a year?) today and I'm fully in love with this band again However, AI was the album I enjoyed the least today.
The local radio hosts where I live are dicks sometimes. They're always like "Okay, next song is Mr Chainsaw by Alkaline Trio. Nevermind, scratch that, here's the 3rd One Direction song in a row even though this is an alternative/punk station"
Jimmy died dude. "Jimmy died today, he blew his brains out into the bay"
He doesnt fall in love with whatsername again. He commited suicide, hes no longer able to feel anything. whatsername is just a song about him not remembering her name. Im not really sure about it though.
