  1. What??? WICA is simply one of the best songs Billie has ever written, with some of the best lyrics. It is absolutely NOT generic. He wrote the song for Adrienne, during a time they had broken up. He is telling her to go try something new, but she may find out that there was nothing between them to begin with. In a relationship, no matter what you choose to do, there will always be consequences and you need to live with those. "So go do what you like, but try and do it wise. You may find out that your self doubt means nothing was ever there. You can't go forcing something if it's just not right" One of the best series of lines Billie has ever written. So true and so helpful in life. Honestly, it helped me dump a boyfriend of 2 years. I knew it wasn't right between us but was too scared to dump him. This song helped me to change that. It also has one of the best bass lines ever, IMO better than Longview. However, I do agree with you on 21CB. It is brilliant.

  2. Ah Kerplunk... my personal favorite GD album. I think the narrative on this album is so perfect, every song has a clear feeling to it. It has a youthful naivety to it, which I can relate to it. Also, the My Generation cover is cool. My fav song on it is Words I Might Have Ate. Is it only me that think it sounds a bit like The Beatles? Or at least reminds you of that kind of style? I think 2000 Light Years Away and Words I Might Have Ate sum up the album really well, both great songs. Another really good song is Christie Road, soooo fun to sing along to. Who Wrote Holden Caulfield is a really perfect song, top 5 ever GD song IMO.

  3. I have never analysed the lyrics to WICA properly and I didn't know this story. I like that song, but I've never given it much thought. The lyrics are very well written. I wouldn't say it's not meaningful - it's a good song about a relationship - there are literally millions of meaningless and way worse love songs.

  5. I remember Oh Love and Stray Heart. Next time I shall write the titles down as soon as I hear them. Sometimes they take songs of AI, and mostly it´s just the instrumental parts put together. It´s only a filler for the background, I just recognize the songs because they are from GD. Otherwise I wouldn´t even recognize the music at all...

  9. I know, I was there to hear that in person too. I'm not saying there's any plausible reason to think they won't tour again — my feelings of acceptance toward the idea is what frightened me more than anything, I guess. I was upset for a few minutes that the Nifi Fest was canceled, but I got over it almost immediately. It was strange. I know, I'm one step away from catching #moditus now...

  10. LOL Okay, I have a really interesting one. In When I Come Around, my mom (been a Green Day fan since like '93) has always sang "so don't knock down my door" as "sell donuts at my door". I get into arguments with her everyday about it, and she vehemently believes that is the actual lyric. She actually believes BJA says "sell donuts at my door". There's no convincing her. At this point I just think she's trolling me. Also one that makes me laugh everytime, in Horseshoes and Handgrenades I always hear "Homophobia only really counts" instead of "Almost only really counts" Oh, and just a general thing, please don't tell me I'm the only one that has to listen to most GD songs from 1995 and earlier really closely tp hear the lyrics properly? Its mostly a 1039 smoothed out Slappy Hours and Insomniac thing, but still. It troubles me. Up until I read your comment, I always thought it was "I can't see a thing on the radio". Which thinking now, is really stupid haha.

  11. But remember, they were going to play Nifi. It is not their fault the festival was cancelled. Let's be positive, there will be a tour again!!!! Since Billie hasn't posted anything recently, I think he is putting the finishing touches on a new album with tour to follow. I think I used up my positive vibes for the week.
