Next time remember to talk to me when you see me IRL. I don't bite. Same as above, my friend, same as above. Also, I still didn't find the thing you asked for in digital, sorry that I got sidetracked. Here is Billboard, May 2nd 20153 points

ALBUM OPINIONS Warning and Insomniac are easily the best. No question. 21CB, Dos and Tre are their three worst albums by far, although there are a few good songs on each. The rest are all very good, although not perfect. I have no idea as to the popularity of these opinions, but it's how I feel.3 points

I couldn't even process they were playing it when it happened. I literally slapped Brandon, screamed "RECORD IT!!!" and then thought "OMG I NEED TO SHOW MIKE MY SIGN!" Then when the song was over, I was like "oh, I don't even remember it happening." Billie's live solo was SO good in it, but I didn't realize it until after I watched the recording later on.2 points

Demolicious is a different story. I forgot to mention that, sorry The raw sound, the jamming vibe, its so great to listen to that once in a while. The hey-oh during the Rusty James intro gives me goosebumps! The bass intro of Baby eyes, they should have put it into the album. The acoustic Stay the night makes me cry!!!! xD2 points

Parts of the trilogy really aren't bad though. They were just recorded wrong, sadly. I listen to Demolicious a lot, actually. Stay the Night, Rusty James, Stray Heart, Missing You, Nuclear Family and Sex, Drugs & Violence, even 99 Revolutions, really are enjoyable. I wish a few others would've gotten the Demolicious treatment instead of Oh Love, Let Yourself Go, Angel Blue, Little Boy Named Train, Baby Eyes, Makeout Party, Ashley and Fell For You (that seems to be the only one that works better with the trilogy production, probably because it's so poppy!). I would've liked to hear Amanda, Lazy Bones, X-Kid, Kill the DJ, maybe even Fuck Time... recording it really killed Fuck Time.2 points

Yeah, I agree with that. But there was never really any reason they couldn't have put out something that sounded like Demolicious but more polished production-wise. They straddled the line between raw and polished for years (Dookie and American Idiot, for example, were perfectly balanced but still energetic and "punky") and I'm still at a loss as to what went wrong this time around.2 points

Why does everyone like 21CB so much? The concept aspects of it are incredibly forced, it's about 5 songs too long, and it's overproduced, just in a different way than the trilogy was.2 points

It's not exactly a news, but this parody of Basket Case is brand new and excellent2 points

State of Shock is just all-around terrible, partially because it's not finished, and partially because it's just a run-of-the-mill tune with uninspired, bland lyrics. I appreciate your optimism, but it was a hurried list. There are plenty of others I want but won't get either — Jinx/Haushinka, FOD, 86, She's a Rebel, Hitchin' a Ride... actually pretty much anything off of Nimrod/Warning... I'm not a huge fan of Brain Stew/Jaded, but Are We The Waiting/St. Jimmy was AMAZING live, even though the crowd sucked and didn't sing back.1 point

I would absolutely kill to see this live. Unfortunately I think the only time I will is when I see American Idiot.1 point

Stop being so perceptive! But yeah, I agree. I feel like 21CB was some weird attempt to be this sprawling epic, but it's very, very hard to write an album like that. I thought the character references just seemed contrived (Christian and Gloria, really?), unlike in AI, where it all seems natural. AI is a really cohesive piece of work, whereas 21CB doesn't really gel. I'd love Green Day's next album to just be a minimally-produced, 12 track punk record, but I realize that's what people have wanted for the last 11 years, so I'm not gonna hold my breath. At the end of the day, I love 'em, and I'll love whatever they put out, even if it's objectively not that great. I feel like we agree on a lot of stuff X-Kid is probably my favorite song from the Trilogy, I would've loved to hear that on Demolicious. And yeah, some of the songs on there aren't my favorites, but it's still a lot better as a whole than the Trilogy was. Ugh, State of Shock still makes me angry. Such a lazy song.1 point

I feel you. The hype, waiting for the ten second long videos, drawing out clues, talking all day long about the new album conspiracies, the songs, the sound, I miss that around here so much!1 point

This is basically my issue. American Idiot was just a stroke of dumb luck, in my opinion, and then they tried to replicate it. You just can't do what American Idiot did twice, ESPECIALLY if you're trying to do it intentionally. It just doesn't work that way. You can't plan something that epic just for the sake of being epic. Although Nimrod, the trilogy and 21CB suggest they're finding it difficult to trim the fat, both Stop, Drop and Roll and American Idiot were focused and consistent, which shows it is possible for them to still put out a short, punchy, solid record. I don't think it's coincidental that my favorite albums for them are the shorter ones. They're easy to get through quickly and appreciate as an entire package, because they aren't trying too hard. They're just great on their own. Y'know, all the years I've complained about how bloated 21CB is and I've never once thought to actually try narrowing it down to a shorter list. Silly me. I really like your list, but I'd probably add Horseshoes and Handgrenades in there somewhere. Objectively, I acknowledge it's not good, but I still can't help but find it catchy. Nope, I've got it too, I'm afraid.1 point

I actually wanna hear your picks for a 12-song 21CB. Here's mine: 1. 21st Century Breakdown 2. Viva La Gloria! 3. Before the Lobotomy 4. Last Night on Earth 5. East Jesus Nowhere 6. Peacemaker 7. Murder City 8. Viva La Gloria? 9. Restless Heart Syndrome 10. The Static Age 11. 21 Guns 12. American Eulogy That right there is a strong fucking album. I guess I just don't think "getting it out of your system" is a good excuse to write an album.1 point

I mean, I think their biggest problem these days seems to be quality control. As I said, 21CB should've been shorter, and the Trilogy was just a fucking monument to an inability to self-edit.1 point

I mostly agree, but there's this carefree, spontaneous vibe you get from Demolicious that is completely absent on every single Trilogy song. There are none of those little imperfections that make music sound natural, it's completely sanitized.1 point

Thank you for saying what I clearly lack the vocabulary to illustrate. For me, Demolicious is the best thing they put out since AI.1 point

No one will ever convince me the Trilogy wasn't over-produced. Sure there might not have been much done compared to the likes of American Idiot, but for the intended style it's unquestionably overproduced. The point being the production is too noticeable - it serves as a distraction rather than enhancing the songs. Songs in that sound of style shouldn't sound so damn clean and polished, because it just sounds artificial and takes away all impact. Demolicious is proof of that.1 point

I would say it is differently produced. Billie's vocals are some of his best ever. There are some absolutely amazing lyrics on the album. There are so many different aspects to this album. YOu have the angry, get up in your face songs, such as Christians Inferno and Horsehoes and Handgrenades. Then you have a true ballad (done well) Last Night on Earth. Then they conquer Christian hypocrisy with East Jesus Nowhere and have a true anthem in 21 Guns. To sum, the album is a roller coaster that takes us through all sorts of musical styles while still maintaining the flow of a concept album. It shows just how diverse they can be.1 point

I would guess that picture of them covered in mud was taken after Woodstock? If you look closely at that pic Tre is wearing 3 plastic barettes in his hair like little girls wear. LOL1 point

I think Jinx/Haushinka officially are my favorite transition songs. Both are solid songs, and the transition is just so punchy. Flawless, really. They're two gems on Nimrod amongst the experimental chaos. I even like them more than Give Me Novacaine/She's a Rebel or Holiday/BOBD now, which are both off my favorite album.1 point
