  1. The difference being 99 Revolutions wasn't massively offensive.

  4. I'm totally the opposite, the lyrics are always the most important thing for me and are what attracted me to Green Day. Shows how many different things about their music there are to love!

  5. Do you really think it's strange that a songwriter would think/say that about one of the newest songs he's written? It's natural to feel that way about the stuff you've just worked on and are currently proud of and excited about. And pretty much all bands do it too, "I feel like our new album is our best work" etc. It's not lying.

  9. I still don't think Billie sounds close to British

  10. It's an opinion that holds a bit more weight when it comes from someone who wrote Dookie, American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown, though. So I'd say it's a lie

  11. Ooooh that was fun, I might have to share that again.

  12. I just had the weirdest idea. For a second I seriously considered that Green Day should do African tribal music for their next album. Dear Lord. (facepalm) Too much Lion King will do this to a person, I guess.

  13. I'm musically ignorant, so please don't ruin it for me like you did with the American Idiot riff that's basically just copied and pasted on repeat.

  14. "Give me a fucking break. One cake left. One cake fucking left. You're not gonna eat one fucking cake? Look at that fucking table right there - one cake. Let me fucking tell you something, let me tell you something, I've been around since fucking 198-fucking-8. And you can't eat that one fucking cake? You've gotta be fucking kidding me! You're fucking kidding me. What the fuck!" (Sorry, can't resist)

  15. Can we do this skit? Hey, at least the guy who sent this is considerate enough just to ask for a dollar or three. EDIT: Either he's kind enough not to ask for much, or he doesn't have a clue how much a dollar is worth.

  16. Strangeland makes plenty if sense to me. The opening is the narrator analyzing the world around them, and how it captivates them. Now that they are grown up, they are seeing the world for the first time, and it's so much different than it was when they were a kid. Hence the name "Strangeland"

  18. Northern accents are less comprehensible to people from southern England since we're so used to hearing English spoken properly

  19. I've always liked how the cover of American Idiot says "Green Day presents American Idiot." It sounds so cool and makes it seem so much more epic.

  20. Probably because it's so amusing and awesome! Many things to love about it but my favourite thing is how scared Tre looks (power walking and only just resisting the urge to run and duck), while Billie is fearless, and Mike doesn't actually appear to do anything dangerous

  21. Got the weirdest fucking email today. First they requested Green Day play a concert in their country (that's normal). But then they suggest the band do a skit on stage where during American Idiot they get someone to go up on stage from the crowd and act like they're shooting all 3 members, then have police come out from back stage. "Leave the crowd and everyone silent for a few minutes, then Billie gets up saying "waaakkkeeee upp like in the chorus of Waiting", and the band starts playing again". After this person finishes this really terrible idea for a concert, they give me two bank account numbers asking for me or "anyone else in Green Day" to donate money to them, $1 to $3, just to help. They also kindly offered to use a wire transfer through Western Union if that was easier for us. It's been a long time that I genuinely thought "what the fuck did I just read" after going through email.

  22. I had one last night that started off with me stealing candy from a party. Turns out it was some kind of afterparty/birthday party for Billie Joe, who was going around asking people if they wanted cake. When he found me, he insisted I go have some cake - a weird apple chocolate cake that took up an entire table. He forcibly gave me cake, sans plate, and then stated to throw pieces at people behind him climbing a rockwall, yelling about/asking why people wren't eating the fucking cake. Dude was all about the cake. Also, I lost the candy (which made me way sadder than it had any right to).

  24. here's an email i would like to share, and when i read it i just think "what the fuck". People are so retarded it makes me cringe. Here's today's This email is regarding to the "IMPORTANT" part on the Contact us on GDA. Here's that part I wrote on that page to avoid people writing to Green Day through us. "*IMPORTANT*: We at GDA have NO contact with any members from Green Day, their management, record label or family members. We are just some really dedicated fans who happen to be geeks. As much as we wish we could pass your love letters over to them, we can't. So don't waste your (and our) time writing something to them. This form is to contact the webmasters for anything pertaining to GDA, we cannot help you any further than that. Try Google for anything else. Thanks!" Here is what this person wrote to us about: "1: Why would you call us geeks when we are not the ones who created this website, and is probably a 50 year old man who has nothing else to do accept he's a loser and made a website where he can be incharge of? 2: Quote on quote you said " As much as we wish we could pass your love letters over to them, we can't. So don't waste your (and our) time writing something to them." Right well I don't wast my time I'm writing poems and going too school too be a A+ student and I adore Green Day that's mostly my range of peacefull music I listen too... And I just wanta go up too Billie Joe and ask him if he likes my poems. And who and what inspired his songs and too be a rock star. So if you don't know who we are and what we do every day you can shut up." I get so many of these, most are much better than this (as in more stupid), I'll share somtime.

  28. HOW?! It's like a ridiculous overbearing phaser effect, like the drums at the start of Feeling This but shit.

  29. Why did I never think of this as a possibility? It would make the album seriously perfect. Actually, I wouldn't even mind keeping both of them. Too Much Too Soon just really needed to make it on there... it's just so good. The musical version is great, too.

  30. I think Billie sometimes says things to please fans and he has bunch of ideas and doesn't really know so he says something but will get another idea and do that instead

  31. AFAIK wasn't Billie actually freaking out inside when he walks down that crossroads? And yeah, now that you mention it, Billie and Tre almost get hit by vehicles going in their direction while Mike just pushes a ped Xing button. ...That's it. A couple of stuff that's been running in my head. (1) Green Day fans never seem to take anything Billie says seriously. But then again Billie must be one of the worst liars out there. He denies any involvement with The Network - nobody believes him. He says Cigarettes and Valentines was stolen - quite a number of fans don't believe him. (The naughty part of me wants to add here that statement about how 99 Revolutions was the best thing he'd ever written.) (2) I now officially love WMUWSE. That song just acquired another layer of meaning for me when my grandma passed away 31 August. That might be because they play GtP half a step down live. AFAIK the studio version is in standard tuning. That, and the fact that Billie on the earlier records seem to have this habit of making himself sound whiny/nasal. (Speaking of which, I've always found Billie's voice slightly deeper on 1,000 Hours than either in Slappy or 39/Smooth, where he goes on whiny mode more often.)

  32. We have discussed this before but because accents are like the best thing ever and different accents really fascinate me, I'll restate my opinion He doesn't even sound that much British in fact. He just pronounces certain words lazily which is also common in Cockney. He for example often drops H's. On the other hand, it is kinda useless to try to analyse his accent since it is sometimes pretty incomprehensible anyway. ( Northern accents, in fact, are not at all incomprehensible ) But I have never even thought that he sounds particularly British. His singing accent is strongly rhotic, for instance. But maybe it is more about the feeling It is interesting though how his accent changes when he speaks normally.

  33. Is it just me or is Billie slightly out of tune on the studio version of Going To Pasalacqua? Might be why I love the AAF version so much more.

  34. There's something super off putting about those last tweets. If you don't know someone enough to know their names or you refer to them as 'green day bassist's daughter' or 'green day bassist' then you've got no business putting up photos of them.
