  2. There's a pretty good thread about lyrics here. As for your question, I actually answered this one myself a while back: Gloria "making her bed in salad days" refers to her not wanting to grow up, and mourning the fact that she's older now, hence "ashes to ashes of our youth." That's what I get from it, anyway.

  4. Yeah, he did for that one song. Will never forgive him for that, I was really excited for AI :/

  5. I can hear the "to" but then he ends it with an O sound. I can only conclude that it is neither tonight nor a hey-oh, but some sick combination of the two.

  6. I actually don't think it was as bad as everyone else does. I think it lacked the edginess it claimed it had. I thought there were some really interesting things about it. I'm not much of a musical man myself though

  7. The vocal style is completely different. They don't have to change the entire thing for it to be rearranged.

  10. stage acting is a lot different from screen acting. everything is over the top and exaggerated and loud and dramatic. so yeah ""punk spirit"" is going to look ""forced"" just like everything else.

  11. If they anounced that David Fincher or Mark Romaneck was directing I'd probably fangirl all over the place.

  12. Last Night on Earth is hands down the best vocal they've ever done. The runs/falsettos are perfect plus Billie proved he could do it live. The lyrics aren't bad as love songs go. Especially when compared to When It's Time. Also, Tony Vincent's tone in the beginning of LNOE is fucking fantastic, they did well with that song in the musical. Even though I will agree that the "punk spirit" certainly seemed forced from a lot of the characters. Also, an AI movie is almost doomed to be awful, but I do believe it is POSSIBLE to have it work if they step away from the faux-punk attitude that exists in the musical and in the JOS music video. They would to need to make it really dark and cast it perfectly for it to work for me. Edit: basically what DookieLukie said above with regard to most singers.

  13. That may be who's to blame, but that's kind of irrelevant when the result is the same.

  14. Inferior when it comes to that style, yes. She could be the absolute best in the world at what she does, but is she a better singer of punk songs than Billie? Lol no.

  19. FALSE! He says "My beating heart belongs to you." In all seriousness, while the lyrics are undeniably simple to the point of charming naivete, the melody and the overall sweet slow-dance atmosphere save it.

  20. I love Last Night On Earth. It's a fairly standard love song but I really don't think the lyrics are cheesy. They're just open, honest and simple. There's a difference.

  30. Huh? Apart from the fact they only kept one Breakdown song in there and kept playing Dookie in full?

  32. Are we all going to ignore the fact that Lady Nightlife seems to dislike the studio recording of When I Come Around?? But seriously fuck off When I Come Around is the best song on Dookie and it is one of the top 5 melodies they've written. The riff is also their best. And the lyrics are quite good for the most part.
