  1. That's what makes AI so special, even its weakest songs serve a purpose for the narrative. Not only does AI have fantastic individual songs it has a strong and coherent theme/story which makes it an even more fantastic album.

  2. I know She's a Rebel is probably the most-hated song on American Idiot, but I like it and it fits the story. If you think about it, it's the only happy moment throughout the whole story. Jesus/St. Jimmy is happy for a brief time, while he and Whatshername first get together. In the the next song, he feels like dying, she is sick of crying - things start going bad. So I think, while it's not the greatest song in world, it serves the story well, and gives the characters at least a bit of hope in the midst of pain and heartbreak. On an interesting note, the song is also sort of about the statue of liberty.

  5. I agree. Its simpleness has a purpose (unlike a lot of the more basic trilogy songs) and helps convey how the character is feeling.

  6. Yup, but they're a new member and they need to be given props for trying to share something with us, even if it's "wrong" in some way. So, welcome.

  7. Well I think part of the whole image revamp for AI was Billie coming off as larger than life. It worked to perfection. I first heard of them b/c of AI. Billie with his odd nasal snarl and his all black with eyeliner get up immediately caught my eye. That image lasted through 21cb but now that he's out of rehab I'd say he has reverted back to the Warning days. That parallel between now and the Warning era truly does exist IMO. Not only with Billie's persona/image but also where they are musically and where they are in the eyes of the mainstream.

  8. Rolling Stone, March 13th 2014. Are these graphics your own work? Love them, though the Billie of Arabia (?) one should probably go to http://www.greendaycommunity.org/topic/69200-green-day-reinvented/ Nice to see such a talented person around.

  13. In terms of pure earworminess it has to be either Castaway or Basket Case.

  14. Listen to it more. Trust me you need this. I'd say unequivocally GD's BEST melody is Castaway. No doubt in my mind.

  16. Unfortunately Insomniac is -i think- the most underrated Green Day album. Even though its pretty genius and quite frankly one of my favorites. I don't know why people don't like it, or maybe they don't know about it. The only song everyone knows off of Insomniac is Brain Stew, and there are a lot of better songs than that in the album. People suck. Nimrod is actually one of the best albums It sort of has a bit of everything. Depressing shit, awesome stuff, and a song about drag queens. What more can we ask for XD
