The best part of Brutal Love is the drop into the coda. The first section is decent but nothing special, then that falling melody comes in and it's just the best release of tension in any Green Day song other than Restless Heart Syndrome.
Green Day is very good at building tension in their songs. BOBD, Before the Lobotomy, Letterbomb, Brutal Love, Panic Song, Restless Heart Syndrome, among many others have great energy build ups. Brutal Love definitely ranks high among that group
First one from the honorary degree on Mtv, second from this
I remember you asked me about this video and I couldn't remember it, but now I did haha This video
No worries, just always trying to make sure not everything gets posted in this thread
I miss that as well! Just viewing wise it means that twice as many people can be on the barrier and loads more people get a good view for some of the show. I don't care about pyro and other stuff at all but I hope they bring that back in future. Surely it can't cost that much
I think it has an excellent build up. The vocals are an obvious plus. But I think it also is a step outside their comfort zone just a bit, which I like. While the melody was borrowed in part, i think the lyrics are excellent, some of the most honest-feeling writing we get in the trilogy. The emotion he puts in to it live supports that.
I guess this is the best place to post this. I talked to Lady Cobra on the phone yesterday. My question I asked was how much she wrote of Nightlife and how much Billie wrote. She said it was mostly her, which was to be expected, but it's a cool thing to actually know. I mean, for all we knew before, Billie could've written most of her parts.
