  4. It's a metaphor for the cyclical nature of human history and the universe at large. GDC is a microcosm of existence.

  7. Yeah, I was just being contrary more than anything. I do favor multiple interpretations of one work being valid, though.

  8. Death of the author is retarded, though. I'm just living in blissful ignorance until someone finally asks him about it.

  11. Novacaine is a portmanteau, a metaphor for a high. "Nova" - a star showing a sudden large increase in brightness and then slowly returning to its original state over a few months.

  16. Aside from California and maybe New York the UK is definitely the luckiest place to be a Green Day fan, for the size of the country the amount of shows they do here is crazy. They must just be able to sell lots of tickets here. Come and see them next time!

  17. No, Amurica is the shit. #freedom (ha) Bonus information: I have a weird affection for the city of Cleveland, since it's the largest city near my hometown/where I live now, just about an hour away. So, they announced a Cleveland show for the last tour, and I rejoiced... and then it got canceled. They hate me. I almost made it to an Ohio show for the AI tour, but then my parents backed out at the last minute, and 14-year-old me didn't have a way to get tickets or get there. Next tour (which I assume will be 2015 at the earliest) I've already decided I'm using all my vacation time that year to follow them across the country.

  18. Um, I live in the U.S., and I'm nearly 5 years older than you, and I just saw them live for the first time this past year... just because we live somewhere doesn't mean we're automatically capable of seeing them, nor does it mean we aren't able to complain about that. The U.S. is a big place, and there are plenty of areas in it that they don't hit. They haven't been to Ohio in 10 years and it's one of the most populated states. I can imagine there are plenty of other areas that haven't ever seen them...

  19. Soundcheck's 10 Favorite Musical Moments From Letterman's 'Late Show' Green Day, "Basket Case" (June 29, 1994) Long long ago (the mid '90s, let's say) I grew up in a "Dave" household, where I was allowed to stay up late with my parents so we could watch Letterman's absurdist and acidic antics before bed. And sometimes there was a musical guest so enticing to my sullen, early teen self that I'd stay up a little later: There was Weezer doing "Say It Ain't So," Bjork doing "Hyperballad," and R.E.M. doing "What's The Frequency Kenneth?" with Dan Rather?!? And then there was Green Day's snotty rendition of "Basket Case," the trio's pop punk anthem about boredom and anxiety. At that age, you spend so much time marking the line in the sand between stuff your parents liked and stuff you like. So here were "my bands," playing on big time TV, and I probably saw them for the first time sitting on the couch next to my folks. 22. Repetitive/annoying/eh? lyrics aside, I like the song (if only for the music) and agree that it's one of the more decent songs in Dos. Not the best, yes, but the melody is quite catchy. OUUUTOFSIGHTOUTOFMIIIIND I'MNOTTHEHURTINGKIIIIND
