Billie also said 99 Revolutions is the best song he's ever written. I don't trust his opinion lol Also, I've seen the musical twice and I find it weird how everyone sings in a whiny manner. Were they instructed to do that as part of the characters? The only person who sang in their normal voice was Billie's nephew in the current tour (who btw looks like Warning Billie with blonde hair).3 points

The musical version of Letterbomb is an absolute abomination. I love female vocals generally a lot more than male, but Letterbomb is absolutely shit in that respect. Maybe if someone like Pink or Brody Dalle did it it'd work, but the people that do it in the musical are totally inappropriate.2 points

The screaming that Jason does on Let Yourself Go is just grating (especially live). It's just...screaming. Anyone can scream that awfully. Also, I absolutely love the riff on Shoplifter. You can really tell on Too Much Too Soon and Shoplifter what Billie's voice really sounded like during the AI era, the effects are far more subtle than they were on the rest of the album. I'm hoping State Of Shock is something similar to the C&V sound and not the trilogy.1 point

Phew... Just caught up on 15 pages and I'm too lazy to type my responses now, so I'll just express my opinions on your unpopular opinions with emoticons! Fixed it for ya. (I seriously love those two songs!)1 point

Billie Joe is a better singer then Mike, period. Mike has great upper range as he as shown on his backing vocals but simply "ooo-ing" is different from pronunciating words in that high a register. Also, he doesn't seem to be able to carry notes that are in middle ranges.1 point

It was?! Just when I thought he couldn't get any more awesome.1 point

I think that's exactly the point though. It's calling people out for doing all these things, but phrased to ridicule them. I've always taken it as "I'm an imbecile because I believe in Jesus," ie "Jesus made me that way." I think that's why Mike sings the line, because he's so anti-religion, with EJN being his idea, etc.1 point

I agree, it's so emotionally understated yet epic. As much as I like not suffering through Jaded on the 99 Revs Tour, the segue between AWTW and St. Jimmy is just so good. That moment between the songs, where you know what's coming next, and you have an "Oh, SHIT" realization that you need to hold the fuck on tight, because shit's about to go down? I get it when I listen to the songs in my bedroom; I can only imagine how it would be on the floor (since I wasn't at my 21CB Tour show when they did)!1 point

Are We the Waiting not being on the set list is quite possibly the worst set list decision they make consistently. The song is tailor-made for live shows. With its call and response + arena ballad sound. And the first two verses of lyrics are so incredible.1 point

It's damn close between JOS and Homecoming. I couldn't possibly choose between them. The thing is, Homecoming feels long, sprawling and diverse, whereas JOS is just so well arranged it takes what should get boring after three minutes and stretches it out into a 9 minute epic that doesn't feel too long at all. I'd argue that Homecoming has the more epic feel, whereas JOS kind of feels a lot more natural. Homecoming seems to be a lot darker, like the evil twin of JOS, so to speak. The backing vocals in JOS are among the best I've ever heard, but Homecoming has leads from Mike and Tre. So it's neck and neck for me.1 point

To me, JOS will always prevail over Homecoming because of the lyrics. The themes are universal. Homecoming is excellent but nothing can quite compare to JOS1 point

I kind of count Shenanigans as a real album even though it technically may not be. International obviously doesn't count though. I've got an opinion that may be unpopular: BIAB is hands down the best live recording of Green Day ever, there's moments on that album that are so raw and powerful yet others are so beautiful it gives me chills. And I think it's got the best recording of Good Riddance ever1 point

I was never in that. Not really, those are just facts. Well, maybe not the asshole part, that's my opinion, but lions do behave like that in the wild. Male who come into a new pride will kill the cubs of the lions who are already there to remove the competitors' genes from the population. They also may kill other predators in the area like leopards or hyenas and then just leave them. That may be a territorial reason or to reduce competition for prey, but still, not many other large predators will do that. Lions are different in that way (and it is almost always the males). Well, I never liked lions very much. They're not very catlike in my opinion and I don't think they're that pretty, but that's just me. I totally agree with you about Billie Joe is just Billie Joe thing, though! It absolutely makes sense! I always find myself thinking about that - how there's no one and nothing else like him and when I try to compare, it's just not possible, because he's Billie. btw, laly1 point
