Green Day mentioned Kylie, our pop princess should take a leaf out of Green Day’s book http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/entertainment/sydney-confidential/kylie-our-pop-princess-should-take-a-leaf-out-of-green-days-book/story-fni0cvc9-12268392410526 points

The original part of Brutal Love is the best bit. That ending melody is one of the best things they've ever done.5 points

Last Night On Earth is the best vocal effort we've heard from Billie, by far. The runs so beautifully intertwine with the falsetto. The way he climbs in to those big notes. Fantastic. As for the lyrics, they are pretty good, especially by love song standards.4 points

So here's an unpopular opinion: I like the countdown at the end of Nuclear Family.3 points

If Brutal Love was an original melody it would rank fairly high up there, say top 30 (yeah that's high) but outside of that nothing gets up there from the trilogy. And Stay The Night has grown on me. As has DRB, which is just a good time. Quite frankly it is the best instrumental work of the trilogy.2 points

Back to the Edgar Alan Poe conversation, he's taught in most American high schools and is an American literary icon. He's hardly an unknown scholar in the U.S.2 points

Okay, so I'm reading a rolling stone article about ranked Nirvana songs and this little fact caught my eye: According to James Washburn, the Green Day pal known as Brain Stew, Courtney Love sent all of Cobain's Fang records to frontman Billie Joe Armstrong. O.O Here's the whole article: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/pictures/no-apologies-all-102-nirvana-songs-ranked-20140227/35-the-money-will-roll-right-in-03592651 point

Adding on to the Rolling Stone interview, it's such a deep, serious interview and then out of nowhere ends with "i love rootbeer."1 point

I sometimes skip it too. It's good enough but like you say it's nothing special, whereas Hitchin A Ride is extremely fabulous so sometimes I don't have the patience to wait for it. It is literally my favourite thing they've ever done in a song, gives me chills. The first time he goes "how low..." is the best moment ever! Who the hell doesn't like that?!1 point
-
Yeah, I think this sometimes, too.... But remember, Billie Joe said in RS last year that he didn't consider it as a failure. Even if yes, I think they were a bit deceived though.. But when I see all thes real fans during the 99revolutions tour, with banners and signs of ''we're proud of you'', and that's what matters Ramdom thought, speaking of which, I freaking love this interview.1 point

I feel its very unpopular but I actually like Stray Heart. Sure you could argue its too similar to mother mary, but when I hear Stray Heart in isolation I hear this: Great bassline, pleasant crooning vocals, a swing-melody that has a great hook, and lyrics that look far better than much on the trilogy. Granted it is horrible live.1 point

Going back to our opener thing, imagine if they decided to blow everyone's minds by opening the album with "Take Back".1 point

...............fair enough. Why don't you like it?1 point

I only just now realized that the gibberish Billie is screeching at the end of "Horseshoes and Hand Grenades" is actually "G-L-O-R-I-A!" and oh my god that makes the song so much better.1 point

Just cause they didnt do it for a few shows doesnt mean they dropped it They done KFAD/Shout during the Soundwaves shows so far...1 point

There's something quite special about Billie's palm muting. He locks in so tightly with Mike and Tre, and his dynamics are so consistent, that it's actually incredibly difficult to replicate. It's a very underrated skill, because in theory it's so simple.1 point

As much as I love AI as an album, they're already borderline flogging a dead horse. A movie would just be ridiculous.1 point

Me too. I'd responded to someone else about how I usually like Billie Joe clean shaven, but this look just does something to me. Not really a beard person, but there's a world of difference between this (no, no, no, no, NO) and this (HOT!).1 point

Ignore me. When I posted yesterday, it had been a very long, bad day. But thanks for the kind words. And yeah, I'm the one who posted the pix of Billie Joe from the iHeart show. You know, those pix. Yes, that was my Tumblr, but I deleted it a couple months ago. (I have no idea why those posts are on there now; I certainly didn't post them. I'm not on Tumblr at all anymore.) One fandom got into some trouble regarding copyrighted photos. A couple fansites were "caught" for copyright infringement and had to pay hefty fines to a professional photographer b/c they used his pictures on their sites. One of these fansites removed their photo gallery entirely. I decided it was best to delete my Tumblr. One of the reasons I like the picture threads on GDC is b/c they're protected - you have to be a member to see them so there's (a little) more security. And now, a pic of the birthday boy:1 point

It only really struck me yesterday how incredible the lyrics of Jesus Of Suburbia are. Obviously loads of people love the "home is where the heart is" line, but every single verse speaks to me on some level. For a song with so many lines to be so consistently great lyrically is just mindblowing. There's just so much that seems to get overlooked due to its length. Plus the craftsmanship in putting so many "soundbite" type lines together and making it not seem over the top is admirable.1 point
