I had the opportunity to talk face to face with as bassist last night (Seven days of the festival) to "Sziget" in Budapest. Green Day has sold over 65 million albums worldwide (including 22 in the U.S.). The group received three Grammys over the years: 1994 Best Alternative Album for Dookie 2005 Best Rock Album for American Idiot 2006 Record of the Year for Boulevard of Broken Dreams Rico (CZB): What is the dumbest thing you've done in school thing? Then, ramp up the end of the show with the biggest and hardest hitters, and they leave the stage after a blistering performance of Brutal love with confetti and lights and balloons and fire. They leave the stage. The fire begins again on the stage, and the guys come back, ripping through stay the night and extending it into a 10 minute jam session where bilie introduces the band. Towards the end, Billie is screaming and screaming and crying and screaming some more. As mike and tre finish the song, they exit the stage and billie continues screaming his lungs out as a stage hand gives him an acoustic guitar. He plays Good Riddance with tears streaming down his face, and thanks the audience for being on this journey with him. He says God love you all, smashes his guitar and waves good bye, throwing the guitar into the fire behind him. EPIC.
