BEST b-sides era after nimrod

After spending a few days with the new tracks, I've gotta say my initial impression still holds up. Ballyhoo is easily the standout. It's the catchiest, feels the most polished, and just hits right. I've been listening to it nonstop. Belushi comes in second for me. It also feels complete and the energy is great. No wonder these two were the singles. The rest I have more mixed feelings about. Underdog is pretty good. Gives off some Trilogy or Longshot vibes, which I love. That one takes third place. I absolutely love the arrangement and overall feel of Stay Young, but that long, repetitive chorus really drags it down. If it had a stronger chorus, it might've tied for first, but as it stands, I'll place it fourth. Then there's Fuck Off. Fun, sure, but kind of forgettable. So yeah, that's at the bottom of my list. As for the acoustic versions... well, they sure are songs that exist.

In my opinion, their aesthetics really hit their stride starting with American Idiot. Everything before that (aside from maybe the Warning music video) just doesn't do it for me visually. That said, my favorite has to be 21st Century Breakdown. Though I'm not the biggest fan of Billie's huge hairdo during that time, everything else is top-notch when it comes to the aesthetics. The Trilogy is a close second.

I’ve been humming this one since deluxe came out. Fun, inconsequential, and with an edge. Lyrics seem to be aimed at some MAGA asshat. What’s not to love?

The cheapest were about $280 but they were pretty bad seats. The Offspring opened the pit and charged $50, but here's Green Day charging $5,162 for the same area 🙃

I feel like the two acoustic tracks probably are demos.

I saw people saying the cheapest was $700 but most were $1,000+ Way to screw the fans. It’s either fight over a handful of tickets at a secret show or pay these prices to see them at a small place. If you’re gonna charge that much at least do a residency at the Sphere

I really want to go to this. But I was expecting maybe $450-$800. The tickets were $1 to $5k😭😭😭 I hope there's a chance to get cheaper tickets

Maybe there are no live tracks on the deluxe edition because they saved them for the upcoming live album/dvd? I so much hope for something like Awesome as F**k for the Saviors era!

I’ve noticed this trend first with the Insomniac 25th where they give us enough bonus material for one side of a record but not two. Thankfully we didn’t have to suffer an etching for Saviors deluxe but a few live tracks would’ve been nice (even if I know that means OEB would likely be among them). There’s that live Bobby Sox that went on their YouTube channel that easily could’ve been put on here. Some demos would’ve been cool too. I’m still making up my mind about the “acoustic” tracks here. Since they’re labeled as acoustic versions it would’ve been nice for them to be unique takes and not stripped down mixes of the existing songs, but thinking of them as unique mixes does help me cope a bit. Overall I think it’s a step in the right direction but I’d still like to see a bit more refinement and bang for buck when it comes to these deluxe releases.

I haven't received my copies yet but so far I think they should've let this deluxe edition cook for a little longer. It's kind of disappointing. Most of the songs are mid and the two acoustic tracks are just okay. Would've loved to see some live tracks or demos to flesh it out more. The whole thing just feels rushed.

Stay young is very goood, I like the nostalgic flow. But unfortunately - too repetetive, something's lacking. Though it's the best off deluxes.

I‘ve just checked. Yes, but somehow only for the lyrics of the new songs. Interesting concept: print a text then make it unreadable…

I wish, but we had the Insomniac 25th (which, after the Nimrod, Dookie and AI deluxes, seems very dull reissue), so don't really think it would be release anything new. I don't like the thing this album seems too overlooked by the band, when it's my favorite. I mean, they only play Brain Stew (which, funny thing, I always skip it when listening to it) nowadays. Sometimes a surprise song here and there (for example, Warning Contradiction in the acoustic pub gig two years ago). Even when the Insomniac tour almost reached Spain, they cancelled the rest of the european tour including Spain, which it is a shame.
