That’s our boy. Thanks for finding that

Yeah, Zac Carper is Alice Baxley's brother that Billie helped. "The last time Carper left rehab, he was determined to use again. He was depressed, and all of his close friends but Schwartzel had abandoned him. The only others who hung around were still using themselves. Fortunately, he got a call from Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong, who had gone through addiction problems of his own. He talked to him for an hour on the phone, advising Carper that it was worth it to try to stay clean. “I probably wouldn’t be sober today if Billie Joe didn’t call,” he says. “He really helped me when no one else was there.” "

What is your favorite GD era aesthetically? (This includes album covers, press material, posters, tours, outfits, etc)

Definitely American Idiot. For me, that's the only one where they really got all the branding aligned. Merch, posters, concerts, pretty much all their media has cohesion in the branding. It helped that it was basically 3 colors, red, white, black. The promo they had from partnerships matched in style. Since then, I'd Saviors is the only other one that has been close to being consistent. - Today

Alice Baxley’s brother is a band member. I think he’s the one that did the mix. IIRC, I think FIDLAR were also connected to SWMRS and the Armstrongs through the insular California punk community. They may have collaborated at one time or shared a producer but certainly were friends too until the whole Lydia thing when I think they had a falling out (This was after SWMRS were found to be pointing the finger at other bands acting all pure and noble just before they were accused themselves). Anyway, I also want to say there was another personal connection in the band between a member of FIDLAR overcoming addiction and Billie Joe being a great source of help and support.

The big hairdo is the best for me haha -
I like the feedback and the rawness, less polished in a good way. Need to listen not just out of my phone though and come back. I wonder what there connection to FIDLAR is? I suspect a photographer/videographer, I thought I saw something on insta like that.
-
I took it as about his attitude toward his self-destructive tendencies. Like the impulse is still there but he’s learned to, well, let it go. Kinda tied in to that line in Look Ma, No Brains! “it’s too late now for my suicide”.

The best!!😂

awww look at lennyyyyyyy good boy ❤️ -
This looks really good! Great job!
-
I actually like this better than the original . The effects are cool, they do make me dizzy tho haha. If you stare at those hands long enough it just looks like there is something stuck between the fingers lmao
-
I love that! I actually sew custom patches. I trace the design and sew it by hand (I don't have a sewing machine.) I have sewn Green Day, Alkaline Trio, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Star Wars, and I am working on a Slipknot one right now. I always work through the pain of sewing a thick patch onto a clothing item, haha. You did a great job!
-
I did, but still the needle would slip and get me when I pushed. It was hard but I did it. Here it is! https://www.instagram.com/p/DKm9LwPRIJN/?igsh=bXdlN2ZrMzZhY3A0

Patches are a pain to sew on but don’t forget you can make it a little easier on your hands and use a thimble, old fashioned but really helps when they are thick.

I'm not much of a sewing expert but it was hard as they are quite thick, so if you have the option of a needle that goes through thicker fabric easier it would be a good idea but I agree with @Mollyluna a thicker needle would be worse
-
Absolutely agree.
-
I always sew patches on. I fear ironing them wouldn’t be safe enough for them not to fall off…😅 @pacejunkie punk I use a regular sewing needle, and yes it IS hard work to get it through the patch but I think a thicker needle would be even worse. And I use regular thread, used double.
-
Those are sewn on? They look great you can’t even see the stitches. It’s funny you and @jengd are talking about this I had the exact same thought this week. I have three GD patches, a show patch and two from the Nimrod and the Trilogy box sets. I want to sew them on my old GD/Oakland Coffee sweatshirt I was wondering if that would look good. I think I’m gonna try it now. Did you use a regular size sewing needle or a larger one? Is it hard the get the needle through, the patches are kind of thick? I was wondering if I should use embroidery thread.
-
This is the superior version imo. I'd love Zac to work his magic on a new Green Day EP or the next album, that could be really cool.

When I'm listening to this and hear the part "Some days I'm reaching for a blade, I gotta let it go, Sometimes I'm reaching for a knife, I gotta let it go, So no hard feelings..." I always think of an interview Billie did like 15 years ago where he was talking about seeing people who've talked shit about him not being punk and selling out etc and said "They're lucky I don't have a fucking knife in my boot" lol. Healthier attitude now
-
I sewed my London one on a hoodie along with two small Kerplunk and Warning patches I had. It just looks like I'm wearing an England football hoodie/patch to 99.9% of people lol but I like it anyway. Personally I don't trust iron on Edit: https://imgur.com/a/TJr8VA9
-
A question more than a thought. Has anyone put the patches from last year’s shows on anything? How were they? I think I might sew them on my sweatshirt rather than iron in the hope I can save them once sweatshirt dies.
